A guest told me last time I worked that at Cape May dinners, they have ribs back two or three times a week. I'm going to try and find out if it is on fixed nights and if so, those are the nights we'll book. I was so upset when they took the ribs off the menu and so excited to hear they are back, even if only for a few nights a week!!!!

Ooh, that sounds really good. I am very interested to hear if anyone knows for sure about the ribs. Also, if I could also add, isn't there certain days that have certain hot foods at dinner? For instance, certain days of the week they have the snow crab legs and other days of the week they have other things. Does anyone know what days they serve what foods? I made an ADR for our upcoming May trip and am very excited about it, we are all huge fans of snow crab legs and hoping that they are served on the night that we are there. It's been a few years since we had dinner there, we eat breakfast with Minnie, Goofy, and Donald every trip.

Crab legs, mussels and clams (steamed) are every night. The seafood that rotates is fish sticks, fried shrimp and calamari I believe.

Are you feeling better today Teena? I certainly hope so!!!!

The cough and wheezing is still pretty bad. Going to lung specialist tomorrow at 1:45 pm. Hopefully they will come up with some answers. I don't think the meds I've been on are doing the trick.

Thank you, thank you, thank you :goodvibes....and I hope you feel better really soon. I am hoping to say hi to you when we are there in May, whenever I see you, you always seem so busy therefore I don't because I don't want to bother you :).

So happy it all worked out in the end. It would have been $10 cheaper pp thru UT for us so at 13 people a significant savings. I didn't want the hassel of linking everyones tix to MDE or telling them we have to buy them NOW so the package was so much easier this trip! My hubby and I spent our 15th anniversary at BCV and still talk about it a lot 3 years later. It was our first deluxe stay and it was everything we hoped it would be. You will love it and have a magical vacation. We will be there 6/1-6/8, you?

Thank you!! Saving a decent amount of money always feels good. :)

We will be there 6/7-6/14 so maybe we'll bump into each other!

Teena - hope the lung specialist gives you the meds that do the trick.
Rest! Rest! Rest!

Nettie - looks like NC got hit pretty hard. Hope you are staying safe and warm!

Hunkering down - we're due to get 8-12 inches after midnight. School already closed tomorrow. Don't know how we're going to make up all these days.
I'm starting to think there's a reason we are booked for August instead of our usual July trip!

Robyn there is actually a state law that says they need to finish school by June 30th. So be prepared for a short (if any Easter Break).

After staying off the boards for about two and half years - we couldn't go to wdw during that time and it was depressing to come here to read about everyone else getting to enjoy the magic - I am back. we are going in May !! We couldn't decide on dates at first so no rooms left at BC (for our desired room type that is ) but I will take my close 2nd choice YC! Just booked today - and immediately booked dining . We usually book over 6 months in advance so this is different for me :) .

Opinions wanted- I am traveling with my mom and ds 16. He can finally do the Keys to the Kingdom tour - wanted some opinions on whether or not we should do it. Thanks!

We will be there 5/28 - 6/2 First time not in the fall so any summer tips also appreciated.

Welcome back!

Is DS really into all things Disney? If so, they he most likely would enjoy the tour. I've taken my oldest DD, and she really enjoyed it. My middle DD just turned 16, and is bugging me to go now, lol. If you do decide to go, I'd pick the earliest tour possible, it will be cooler, and still leave you with time to enjoy more of the park later.

Our method for surviving the summer heat is to get an early start, then go back to the resort for a swim and relax a bit and then back out again for dinner. Trying to do the parks "commando style" when it's hot just. Ames for a miserable trip. Be sure to drink lots of water too.

I am sorry you are still so sick, I hope the specialist gives you some Pixie-dust strength meds to knock the heck outta that pneumonia

Honestly, not a problem!

:goodvibes

Just don't ask me to go back and figure out the changes.

I'll change you over to the YC :lmao:
:rotfl: Dee, I wouldn't even be able to figure out my changes. All I know is I paid off the trip, and I am SO ready for summer :goodvibes

I should -finally- add myself here. I've been lurking for a couple of months since I booked in a stay for 2-12 December :-D my first time at BCV. It's just me traveling, and as much as I would love a washer / dryer and spa in the room, I couldn't justify the extra cost of a 1 bedroom, so booked a studio.

Anyway, the reason I'm posting now is that I've read so many posts of people dealing with crazy winter weather and all pining for summer...well, on the opposite side of the world (Australia) we're having the opposite problem. Heatwave after heatwave. We had a week of almost 45 degrees Celsius everyday about a month ago, and have had very few days of it much lower than 35, and I live in one of the cooler parts of the country. We also just had another round of serious bushfires over this last weekend (only properties lost, thankfully). So yeah...for those looking forward to summer, hang in there because the next one is probably going to be a scorcher! :) if you want to see some more crazy weather (that's also Disney related) check out the Tokyo part of the boards. Someone has posted a stack of amazing photos of the resorts covered in snow.

Back to the subject of BC, I'm sure I'll have some questions later on (probably just about the laundry situation and room locations). I'm trying not to get too far ahead of myself, the trip is still a long way away lol but I had thought it might be fun to bring some Aussie treats for the staff (Tim Tams? Caramello koalas?) would it be ok to do that?

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

Sorry to hear about the weather you are experiencing. At least the snow we have here is mostly a nuisance for just a day or two, but draught and fires are so much worse! Western US is experiencing that too!

I'll post the link on the first page to the laundry info. I believe there is a laundry room for BCV guests. Our DVC experts can probably provide you with more information if/when you need it.

Yes, you may bring treats for the staff. What a thoughtful idea! My understanding is that non-tipped employees may receive NON-CASH gifts valued at less than $75. I have been told that gift certificates are acceptable, too.

:thumbsup2

We added a day to our trip.:cool1:
But we have decided to switch resorts since there is no GV or SV available at the YC.

We are now staying at BWI SV 7/25-8/2.:goodvibes

I'm glad you were able to find the type of room you wanted. I'll update the list.

:goodvibes

Good Morning - I have not posted on here yet, just gathered all the information I could and thank you! Leaving from Syracuse for the Beach Club - Club Level tomorrow for 10 nights! Can't wait...

My question was how many CM are in the lounge - wanted to bring a few gifts for them for Valentine's Day..

thanks so much - if you have any questions while I am there, do not hesitate to ask.

:welcome:

Sorry you didn't get an answer before your trip. As you have now discovered, there are probably 5-6 CL staffers on duty at a time, not all work every day.

Hope you are having a great trip!

:goodvibes

Just back from another great stay at the YC.

Arrived at 1015 on the 5th and was in the room by 1025.

Had booked lagoon view and requested boardwal view close to elevators. Was in 3163 which was perfect!

Down a short quiet hall, corner room with balcony facing boardwalk dead center between marina and lighthouse. 2 double side windows overlooking gazebo too.

So glad you had a great stay!

Any chance you have a picture of your view for me to add to the view thread? If so, please post, or if you don't post photos you can email me at beachclubdee at yahoo.

:)

Hi, can someone let me know what the hours are for the boat transportation? My understanding is the bus runs 1 hour prior to park opening and 1 hour after park close, is the water transportation the same?

Also, Is there a minimum height requirement for the jib slide? I don't see one posted, but wanted to be sure. Thx!!

I have yet to see "official" hours for the boats (or buses for that matter)

I'll post the picture I have of the "slide rules" I don't think there is a height requirement. There is a suggestion that people using the slide should be able to swim, but the guards have allowed kids to use the slide while wearing floatation devices in the past.

:thumbsup2

* Please note that adults are not allowed to wait at the exit of the larger pool slide.

FAQ: Are children permitted to wear floatation devices on the Jib Slide?
A: Yes, subject to the life guard's discretion.

Laundry Information :laundy:

Self-service laundry rooms are located near the BC quiet pool (near room 1532) and near the YC quiet pool. Another small laundry room may be found on the first floor of the YC, near the side exit (wedding gazebo side).

The laundry room at the Beach Club by the quiet pool now has 3 brand new GE commercial washers and 1 triple loader plus 8 new dryers (October 2013).

Washers are front loaders. According to repairmen working on disabled washers, HE (High Efficiency) detergent should be used in the machines. Regular laundry detergent is available for purchase in the laundry room ($1) or at the Beach Club Marketplace ($2). Don't forget to pack a few dryer sheets.

Both washers and dryers cost $2.00. Washers run for about 30 minutes. The sign in the laundry room says the dryers run for 20. Users have reported the dryers run for up to 30 minutes on regular and permanent press cycles.

That would be my luck! DH is a CPA so we were never able to go away for Easter break. This year is the first time in 11 years that Easter falls AFTER April 15. So we booked a 5 night trip to Universal. Last time we were at Universal DD got a terrible stomach virus about one hour after we got there. It was only a night trip before Disney and she missed just about all of US/IOA.

This is supposed to be our "do over" trip!

Teena- good luck at your doctor's appointment today.

My boys, Mark and I are all hunkered down at home today. To all my friends in the storm zone, stay safe and warm. My thoughts go out to everyone in the southern part of the country experiencing uncommon and dangerous weather conditions. And sending thanks to everyone out there keeping the roads clear, the hospitals open and the power flowing!

I hate to post one of those "what should I request" requests. But I've never stayed at the YC, so I'm a bit at sea. We have a SV CL room booked. I'm not that concerned about the view. As long as we don't get room 5238, which appears to include a service area. PK56 posted pics of that view and it's pretty bad. So I'm trying to figure out what to request other than "not 5238 or anything similar." I'm guessing from the map that the service area was the one between the convention center and the rest of the resort (so the north east wing?). If I asked for close to the buses and/or the quiet pool, would that work? I know it's a request and nothing more. But that's a pretty awful view (and when the description on Disney's site says nothing about service areas, misleading at best).

Do you have a preference on the floor- lower or upper? I think "Close to Lobby" or "Close to Lobby Elevator" would be decent requests. This request is most conveniently located to the lobby/bus stop/Stormalong Bay.

:thumbsup2

I jokingly told Andrew tonight that he better hope he wasn't still in school making up snow days in July during our vacation!!!!

I'll miss you guys too. Teena and I will take lots of pictures and post them. (Or send them to Dee to post.) :)

Be glad to!!!

:)

We are only five weeks away from our Beach Club stay. We have had a really cold winter, but, as Feckless pointed out, we are used to cold and snow and have the equipment. We just usually get a few days of brutally cold weather every winter, though, rather than weeks of it. :faint: And we are tired of it.

I booked the Keys to the Kingdom tour yesterday and am super excited, especially since I saved 20% with the Disney Visa discount. But we have to be at MK at 8:15am and the park opens at 9am that day. I am going to obsess about getting there on time. Does anyone have a suggestion for getting to MK early? Do they have a dependable early morning bus that people with early ADR's use?

Cabs drop you off at the TTC. Take a cab to the Contemporary instead and walk over. Have the cab drop you off at the guard's gate at the Contemporary and from there it is a five minute walk into the Magic Kingdom. However, the ADR for the early character meals will get you to the Magic Kingdom in time. Cab would definitely be faster and less stressful.

What Teena said! Cab to CR and walk to MK.

:thumbsup2

All checked out after a wonderful stay at the BC. We are just waiting for the bus back to the airport. I am so lucky to say we will be back soon with Jimmy and his family. We are hoping Madyson's April vacation is not cancelled. She lives in Newnan, Ga with her mom and they have missed school because of all the ice.

Glad you had a great trip, but I must say that your posts from SAB made me a tiny bit jealous

Just kidding! ;)

This my familiy's combined 24th visit in 15 years. We just can't get enough of Disney. We have a mixture of many off-site and several Disney resorts, BUT this is our first time at Beach Club and are so excited.

Our vacation will be 5/17 - 5/28. We are starting at Holiday Inn at Downtown Disney for first night, then off to Animal Kingdom for second night, next two nights will be Beach Club (whooo hooo) and then finally, off to a rental house for the next week.

I love reading through this thread. Gives us lots of ideas for while we're there. We are getting annual passes in May, we coming back in the Fall and then again, next Spring. First time for APs too. My cousin is is a new DVC member. Yipppeeeee for all all of us!! :beach: :cheer2:

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list. May 19-21 at BC?

Sounds like an exciting, active trip

:goodvibes

I'm happy to be adding you to the Be Our Guest list!

:yay:

We always travel in the summer. The advice that you got to go to the parks early and take a mid-day break is a good one. I also have some tips about packing (and repacking) wet ponchos at the park in the Other Useful Info Post (Post 14) on Page 1 of this thread.

We went when they had the fried shrimp, I enjoyed them!!

The Cape May Cafe is a bright, airy buffet restaurant. The decor is reflective of the beach theme. The outer rim is ringed with colorful canvas beach umbrellas.

Cape May Cafe New England Clam Bake Dinner: Unlike the usual buffet set-up, this restaurant features a central island where the selections are displayed. There are large steam trays that are continuously filled with snow crab legs, clams and mussels. These popular items are always available hot and freshly prepared.

Other offerings on the buffet:
Carved Roasted Pork Loin in addition to the carved Top Beef Sirloin / Citrus Couscous Salad / Chicken Arugula Pasta Salad / Tomato Cucumber Mozzarella Salad / Quinoa Shrimp Salad with Hearts of Palm / Green Mussels with Spicy Seaweed Salad / Sautéed Beef Tips with a Gourmet Brandy Cream Sauce / Tortellini with Lobster Sauce / Seafood Pot Pie / Hand-Battered Fried Tilapia or Cod (Sundays and Fridays) / Fried Calamari (Tuesdays and Thursdays) / Fried Shrimp (Mondays Wednesdays and Saturdays) and Kids Fish Nuggets.

The above list is from 2010, so I don't know if the rotations have changed. Sue, which day did you dine there?

Can anyone else who has been there recently confirm any of the rotation items?

I would love to find out when the ribs are served, too!

:thumbsup2
