Teena -hope you are starting to feel better. Thinking of you! Well, here we go again. Bracing for yet another winter storm. Predicted 6-12 inches plus ice. We lost power and one of our trees last time so I'm a little nervous with ANOTHER storm in less than a week. Good luck to all my Dis friends getting ready for the next storm to hit!

We got that storm today and it's supposed to continue the next two days. We got about 6 inches if snow today. It's the first time in all of my 56 years that I can remember it snowing without stopping all day long. This just doesn't happen in NC!!

Tomorrow more snow expected and then ice. I'm really looking forward to July at WDW!!!!

Stay safe Robyn. Hope you're feeling better Teena.

I did get to make snow cream today. :)

I hate to post one of those "what should I request" requests. But I've never stayed at the YC, so I'm a bit at sea. We have a SV CL room booked. I'm not that concerned about the view. As long as we don't get room 5238, which appears to include a service area. PK56 posted pics of that view and it's pretty bad. So I'm trying to figure out what to request other than "not 5238 or anything similar." I'm guessing from the map that the service area was the one between the convention center and the rest of the resort (so the north east wing?). If I asked for close to the buses and/or the quiet pool, would that work? I know it's a request and nothing more. But that's a pretty awful view (and when the description on Disney's site says nothing about service areas, misleading at best).

Good Morning - I have not posted on here yet, just gathered all the information I could and thank you! Leaving from Syracuse for the Beach Club - Club Level tomorrow for 10 nights! Can't wait...

Hey, Syracuse! Can you report back on whether you can do curbside check-in at the Syracuse airport now? They were under construction; not sure if they're done.

You can send me a PM if you can remember that I was the one who asked.

Safe travels - I'm hoping that Winter Storm Pax leaves us alone.

They were showing it snowing in NC and SC on the news tonight. I was thinking about you!

Wish I could be there in July but at the rate our school is going with snow days we might still be in school in July! You know I'll be thinking of you and wishing you the most magical trip!!!!!

I jokingly told Andrew tonight that he better hope he wasn't still in school making up snow days in July during our vacation!!!!

I'll miss you guys too. Teena and I will take lots of pictures and post them. (Or send them to Dee to post.) :)

Bracing here in Central a Jersey too. I don't remember winters as crazy as this one has been. Could not find rock salt today. Sent DD on a mission to get it. She managed to get 50 pounds. The dollar store by my work is expecting some and I have another 50 on reserve there.

I have never worked at home as much as I have this year.

Hoping everyone stays safe.

My son is working in Philly and he just sent me a text message saying they are expecting a foot of snow. He's not use to that!!

We are all looking forward to some SAB time! :)

We kinda did the same thing. We booked room only when the Disney Visa discount was released. We have 5 rooms and I take care of all the "stuff" so decided this year I wanted a package instead of tix thru UT. I called back a week later after the discount was released to the public, got thru changing the 3rd room and the CM said uh oh there aren't anymore packages available so had to leave the last 2 rooms room only. CM said to call back and worst case we can buy tix thru them but have to pay for them upfront to keep the room only discount. I called them every few days for 2 weeks and eventually I was able to get the last 2 changed to the package. I would keep calling, especially as it gets closer to the day packages have to be paid for. Although 45 days out doesn't help booking FP+ at 60. :confused3 Good luck!

I did the math and getting tix through Disney was cheaper after figuring redcard discount to buy disney GCs and the free day. So, I ended up reaching out to a travel agent I've heard is recommended and was able to transfer my reservation and Disney told her they can absolutely upgrade to a MYW package and I can keep my SV room rate. On top of that she will keep checking to see if a CL room opens up so I don't have to.

Normally, I would never think to use a TA unless there was a substantial savings (which is rare) and calling doesn't bother me but this time I was just getting frustrated and that's no good. So it really ended up working out (like I knew in the back of my mind it would).

So yay!!! :)

I had a meeting tonight pretty far from home and on the way home my DH and I talked the entire time about how excited we are for BC! I can't remember the last time we talked on the phone for over an hour, college maybe?!? We are going over our anniversary and I think the magic is already hitting us!

Stay safe, all you storm folks! Of course, I can go on and on about how we get worse in the run of a week up here, blah blah blah but it's all what you're used to and prepared for. If you have storms all the time, then you have four wheeled drive vehicles and tons of plows and sand and salt trucks in your town, and you are used to winter driving. If we had the high temperatures that you guys get during the school year, we would have to close schools, because our schools don't have AC! :lmao:

That sounds like a plan!!! Good for you. And I'm so excited that you and DH are both thrilled about your trip. :goodvibes

We are only five weeks away from our Beach Club stay. We have had a really cold winter, but, as Feckless pointed out, we are used to cold and snow and have the equipment. We just usually get a few days of brutally cold weather every winter, though, rather than weeks of it. :faint: And we are tired of it.

I booked the Keys to the Kingdom tour yesterday and am super excited, especially since I saved 20% with the Disney Visa discount. But we have to be at MK at 8:15am and the park opens at 9am that day. I am going to obsess about getting there on time. Does anyone have a suggestion for getting to MK early? Do they have a dependable early morning bus that people with early ADR's use?

The easiest way would be to take a taxi, probably around $17 plus tip.

Cabs drop you off at the TTC. Take a cab to the Contemporary instead and walk over. Have the cab drop you off at the guard's gate at the Contemporary and from there it is a five minute walk into the Magic Kingdom. However, the ADR for the early character meals will get you to the Magic Kingdom in time. Cab would definitely be faster and less stressful.

Have you checked out Undercover Tourist for tickets. I've done it a few times the last being September 2013 and I had no issues at all with the fastpass+ I was able to add the pass to MDE and make all the selections with no problems at all. If you join Mousesavers.com you can get add'l savings on the tickets.

Before I started getting APs we used UT! Great service, and was amazed how fast our orders arrived, even in Canada! Mail service from US to Canada can be awful! I think they shipped expedited?

Update: Still wheezing like crazy, cough is a tad better. Tomorrow I go back to clinic to pick up x-rays. I have appointment on Thursday with Lung Specialist.
Hope you're feeling better soon, for your trip  So glad we got 2 great dinners in with you during our visit :goodvibes.
We arrived home finally after a 3+ hr flight delay  weather here not much different from some of the yuck weather we had in Orlando!!

So when we last left off there was debate about restraining orders and whether Buzzy was going to be locked in the room to sleep it off while Nannette and I went out for breakfast the next morning. Although we tried to keep very quiet while we got ready, Buzzy did manage to wake up just before we snuck out the door. He did a quick comb over of his tentacles or what ever they are called, and flew screaming toward the car yelling "Shot Gun" for our breakfast trip over to Kouzzina.

Nanette and I were dreading breakfast as this was a table service restaurant and Buzzy is not known for his manners when visiting these types of establishments. He's the type of fly who has no boundaries and he thinks nothing of table hopping to chat and sample food from other guest's plates. We once saw a women swat so vigorously at him that most people thought she was having convulsions, but we knew it was just Buzzy paying her an unwanted visit. Knowing all of this ahead of time we planned on trying to divert Buzzy's attention, much like a toddler, and keep him occupied with the sugar packets. We also thought it prudent to request to be seated outside to keep down the potential number of Buzzy victims who were eating inside the restaurant.

Imagine our shock when it turned out that Buzzy was not the most misbehaving guest at breakfast! Unbeknownst to us he had invited a flock of foul mannered grackles to crash breakfast.

Upon seeing Buzzy arrive, the guests sitting next to us quickly left their table, abandoning the sad remains of their meal in a effort to avoid 'kisses from Buzzy'. Seeing this, Buzzy gave the all clear signal and in swooped a gaggle of grackles! They made a bee line for the butter and jelly and their table manners were just as bad as Buzzy's. Nannette and I enjoyed watching one grackle pig out on so much butter his beak was covered in it. Jelly was another bird favorite and tug of wars ensued over the jelly containers. Somewhere on the roof of one of the Boardwalk buildings there must be cases and cases of empty jelly containers from these bird burglaries.

Eventually the wait staff at the restaurant came out and cleared the table, but not before the wild life picked it clean. The staff carefully set the table for the next guests and went back inside, leaving the table unattended. Nannette and I enjoyed another show as the birds swooped back down to the table and started stealing, of all things, the DIET sweetener packets of Splenda. We quickly decided that these were the dumbest birds in all of Disney but Buzzy reasoned that with all that butter in their diets they had to make cutbacks somewhere....

After our delicious breakfast at Kouzinna we decided to walk it off with a trip around the International Showcase. Buzzy had eaten too much and he was whining loudly about Nan and I renting a stroller and pushing him around Epcot. We offered to rent him a locker instead with the promise that maybe we would let him out, maybe we would forget, especially if he didn't stop complaining.

As we passed Germany Buzzy said he was getting thirsty and he wanted to stop for a drink. We were hoping he meant a diet soda but he proceeded directly for the Jägermeister cart and helped himself, uninvited, to every bottle and tap, much to the consternation of the Fräulein working the cart. She took a swing at him with her "Pretzel of death" but sadly she missed and he lived to see another day.

We managed to get all the way to Future World when Nannette and I decided to play a trick on Buzzy. We lured him into "Club Cool" with the promise that he could drown his sorrows in the latest Apéritif from Italy. Having never partaken, he fell for it and I captured his Beverly face in this shot.

If you look closely (VERY closely) you can see his little labella twisted up in a sour knot. As Nelson from the Simpson's says:

We next made our way around the World Showcase and Buzzy insisted on stopping at the DVC kiosk and trying to hit them up for some freebies. As luck would have it they were having a member reception that night so Buzzy, knowing that there would be food and drink involved, tried to act like he was a member so he could pry the location and start time out of the CM. Nannette was frantically waving the CM off so that he wouldn't spill the beans to our party crashing fly. Eventually the CM caught on and told Buzzy that the DVC event was being held at Universal that night. None the wiser, Buzzy said that he would be there and suddenly Nannette and I got the happy feeling that we might be free of him later on in the evening.

By now Buzzy was starting to get tired so we tried to talk him into going back to "Club Cool" for more Beverly but he opted for a refreshing iced coffee. Unfortunately he became enamored with the honey bear and insisted on having half a bottle poured into his cup.

This proved to be quite the mistake as Buzzy, who was now amped up on buckets of caffeinated honey, INSISTED on visiting all of his friends at the Beach Club. Nannette and I looked at each other warily thinking that this was not the time to let Buzzy loose on the resort but we DID want to see Teena and we didn't know if we would get the chance again. Reluctantly we turned toward the Beach Club, hoping that Teena would bail two out of three of us out of jail if things turned ugly.....

Tune in later for the next installment Of Buzzy the Fly's trip with Nannette and Ninja Mom. Will this be the end of the road for dear old Buzzy or just the end of the road for this trip report?? Only time will tell....

Wish I could have been a fly on the wall for that trip :rotfl2:

Woohooo I LOVE when a Disney Vacation starts taking form!!! Just ordered the DVC special Premium Annual Passes for the upcoming November retirement trip... Funny how it took me years before I got my first annual pass... and my DH gets his first after only his first trip :confused3

Today I played with the spreadsheet figured out which tours we would do while at YC/cl and which ones we will do while at AKL/cl. Figured out some of the restaurants we will be eating at! Just need for March 31st to get here so I can see if we'll be staying 2 nights at BLT (7month window)... or if I need to come up with another plan. I decided arrival night would be at the Waldorf (special deal) since I am of the mind set that you can't arrive at a Disney hotel in the evening because to me it's a waste of a day.. must arrive first thing in the morning, and the plane doesn't land until 6ish pm :thumbsup2 Can't wait!!!

Doesn't matter how many trips I go on each one is soooo exciting to plan!
Ok all done.... just had to share with those I know will understand!! :)

~N

PS: Woohooo AGAIN!! The passes have been added to the MDE website and are just waiting to be activated once we pick them up at will call in November! Fast Pass+ can now be used!
Yay!! I vote for the Sunrise Safari at AKL.

All checked out after a wonderful stay at the BC. We are just waiting for the bus back to the airport. I am so lucky to say we will be back soon with Jimmy and his family. We are hoping Madyson's April vacation is not cancelled. She lives in Newnan, Ga with her mom and they have missed school because of all the ice.

Is it my imagination or did they move the smoking area that was in between the BC and BCV at the start of the back walkway to Epcot? If so we would like to give props to management! It has been a mystery to me why they would use what we have considered as a major thoroughfare as a smoking area. We noticed much less smoking in that area when we were there over Christmas and it looked like the ashtrays were gone.

I agree!! I hate holding my breath that long! :thumbsup2

Can't think of anything better for everyone to do on this snowy day than check to see your name on the Be Our Guest list.

Take a peek and let me know if anything needs to be updated

Post 15: Be Our Guest list

.

This my familiy's combined 24th visit in 15 years. We just can't get enough of Disney. We have a mixture of many off-site and several Disney resorts, BUT this is our first time at Beach Club and are so excited.

Our vacation will be 5/17 - 5/28. We are starting at Holiday Inn at Downtown Disney for first night, then off to Animal Kingdom for second night, next two nights will be Beach Club (whooo hooo) and then finally, off to a rental house for the next week.

I love reading through this thread. Gives us lots of ideas for while we're there. We are getting annual passes in May, we coming back in the Fall and then again, next Spring. First time for APs too. My cousin is is a new DVC member. Yipppeeeee for all all of us!! :beach: :cheer2:

Just back from another great stay at the YC.

Arrived at 1015 on the 5th and was in the room by 1025.

Had booked lagoon view and requested boardwal view close to elevators. Was in 3163 which was perfect!

Down a short quiet hall, corner room with balcony facing boardwalk dead center between marina and lighthouse. 2 double side windows overlooking gazebo too.

Glad you had a great time! Any pics of the room? I have a LG view booked for March but have never stayed at YC so don't know what to request.

So happy it all worked out in the end. It would have been $10 cheaper pp thru UT for us so at 13 people a significant savings. I didn't want the hassel of linking everyones tix to MDE or telling them we have to buy them NOW so the package was so much easier this trip!

My hubby and I spent our 15th anniversary at BCV and still talk about it a lot 3 years later. It was our first deluxe stay and it was everything we hoped it would be. You will love it and have a magical vacation. We will be there 6/1-6/8, you?
