I can't remember if I posted here before - but my family and I (DH, DS-7 (8 in July) and DD 5 (just turned 5 in April)) are arriving at the YC for 5 night on the 23rd! Then to the WL for 3 nights.

I think it's just about the time I can put in a room request :) I think we are in a garden view room? Any recommendations for room requests to make? I'd definitely like a daybed so we have a chance of the kids not sharing.

Any other requests we should make? Would like to get the best view possible :)

Thanks!

Is the beach haus the only place to rent towels at blizzard beach? Does anyone take resort towels instead?

We always grab pool towels at our resort to use at the Water Parks. We return them at the water park too as we are leaving. Once we forgot to do this and the nice CM at Blizzard gave us towels for free since he said we could bring them from our resort.

Enjoy your visit!

I'm sad to say I need to be taken off the Be Our Guest list. When the late summer room only discounts were released I was able to snag a standard view at the Poly for the same dates, and same price, as my Beach Club GV room. Even with the last bit of the construction going on I couldn't pass up a chance to be on the monorail since my kids are still so small (almost 3 and 10 months). I struggled a lot with the decision because I LOVE the Beach Club and Epcot resort area so much, but I know I'll be back when the kiddos are older.

Until then I'll follow a long with the fun thread, and live vicariously through all of you :)

Wishing you a wonderful vacation over at the Poly!!!

I'm glad to hear that you are still planning on sticking around and hanging out with us.

:goodvibes:

I saw that porthole window last weekend.. It reminded me of the porthole cabin on Disney Cruises. I think it is a corner room overlooking the yacht men's steakhouse area.

Well, last night, after a fantastic stay at BC CL last weekend and my concern over the Poly construction, I moved my July reservation the BC.

I am in construction and usually like to watch work going on, but when I saw a picture of Hawaii GV gardens condition.. I changed to LV for a big jump.. Now that the monorail will have a change in hours, I just can't justify this as much as I want to stay there.

We moved to BC CL P/L view.. 65 days!!!

:woohoo:

Glad to be :welcome" ing you back so soon. I'll add you to the list.

:)

First time staying at Yacht Club...any input with room requests would be great.

We have a gardenview. I keep hearing about the hikes down the long halls to get to the elevator, but then worry that if close to the elevator will be loud, especially in the morning and park close times. 2A, 3C.

:welcome:

Let us know when your trip is if you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list.

I haven't stayed at the YC side, but a couple of options for garden view rooms are back entrance (lakeside) courtyard view or wedding gazebo view. I think these rooms are all fairly conveniently located.

:cool1:

Aww - that's sweet. I was surprised how badly she wanted that Woody doll. Fortunately, I think everyone wins at hospital bingo.

Everything seems to go right back to Disney. If she likes Woody that much, do I need to look at a meet and greet? I'll have to see what's available at HS since we'll be just a boat-ride away.

I've never done it, but is that cute Meet and Greet area across from Toy Story Mania still open? The photo opportunities in the queue look pretty impressive, like Stinky Pete's Mint- in- Box pose.

The Toy Story characters were my oldest son's favorite when he was 2.

::yes::

On my first trip to WDW with DS many moons ago, Woody & Buzz were the first characters we saw. It was unplanned as we were walking in HS in the NYC street, turned the corner and there they were! As a bonus, they were accompanied by two Green Army men.

The Green Army Men are my favorites!!!

:thumbsup2

Checking in from the Beach Club! Been here since Sunday in a gorgeous new room on the 4th floor. Third floor construction is going on right beneath our rooms, but except for some compressor noise now and then, I haven't seen any evidence of it.

The new rooms are even more beautiful than I expected from seeing pictures, but I don't understand the utter lack of drawer space. I hope they're re-thinking that for the YC refurb.

Two bummers about this stay: Long black SNAKES in the bushes around the courtyard--lots of them! I'm sure it's no biggie to a native Floridian but this NJ girl is snake-phobic.

Second bummer--big private events for a fuel conglomerate taking up the beach between the pirate ship and the quiet pool laundry room. The whole walkway is cluttered with service vehicles and supplies and workers and all sorts of junk since yesterday morning, and guests can't access the beach. No movie at night, either. The view is ruined and last night's attendees were loud, rowdy, and not very nice. Tonight's our last night and I expect more of the same :confused3.
But it's still better than being at home!

Thanks so much for taking some time to let us know how your trip is going. Hope things have settled down with the big convention groups.

:)

Hi Everyone,

I just switched our resort reservation from WL to BC. I have never stayed at BC (or any of the Epcot resorts) before so I am really looking forward to it. It will just be myself and my 6 year old son. We 're taking a quick surprise mother/son trip August 24th-28th. I wish we could stay longer but we will be back to WDW in October for MNSSHP. I think my son will really love SAB especially in the August heat.

We're booked in a standard view which doesn't seem to be that great according to what I've read here thus far but we got a great deal at $200/night so we're sticking with it and hoping for a refurbished room.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

$200 per night sounds like a very "magical" deal!!! I think that chances for a refurbished room with be pretty good at the end of August. Hopefully they will be mostly finished the renovation at that time.

:cool2:

We are poly lovers and own there dvc. However, we used our points to go to Hawaii and are taking our kids to wade in sept. We can get a great deal at beach club on sept. We have only stayed there once, but were not impressed. Rooms were tired, no quick service, and felt like the walk to the room was sooooo far.
I want to love it. Tell me great things you love about it! Could I make a room request that would give us updated rooms, or at least less of a hike?

:welcome:

Beach Club resort (not villas), right?

In September, most of the room refurbishment should be done, so you will likely get one of the beautiful new rooms. For a better chance a renovated room, request an upper floor. Close to lobby elevator would be the request to indicate you want to be centrally located.

The location is our favorite thing about the resort. Stormalong Bay will be awesome in September if you enjoy pools.

Let us know if you book and I will add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

Hope people are enjoying Sunken Treasures!

If any Massachusetts area BC fans are around, check out the anew England DIS Meet screening of Inside Out in Fitchburg on June 20

Last posts before I go nighty-night. Since these boards sleep in until 5:30 am and I have to be at the school by 6 for the field trip, I want to wish everyone a great day and happy weekend!

:goodvibes:

Thank you! Do most of the refurb room sleep 5? We need one of them to have s pull down bed

We are not really sure how many of the refurbished rooms have daybeds (we never really knew how many of the rooms had daybeds prior to the renovation either).

If you are a party of 5, with everyone over the age of 3, you will be given priority for a room with a daybed. You must be given a room that has sleeping space for everyone. If there is not a room with a daybed available, you will get a room with a rollaway cot.

If you are a family of 4, or 5 with a child under age 3, you need to request a daybed. Please note that requests are not guaranteed and depend on the number and size of parties staying at the same time as you.

:thumbsup2

Hi there! :) super new to posting but have been reading this awesome forum for months now! Our trip to YC is next week and was just wondering if anyone has any tips for making the most of it with two little ones (3 year old twins)? :) We've stayed at CBR but the treks to the pool and bus stop were a bit too much for them and we are really excited to be able to walk into Epcot! My husband and I have been debating club level, if not for this trip then for our next one in August, and any thoughts on that would be appreciated as well!!! :) thanks so much for any advice!

:welcome: to this thread and posting on the DIS.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list we keep on Page 1.

My tip to you- Don't miss the kiddie pool that is below/behind the stairs that go up to the Jib Slide. This is a great area for toddlers and rarely crowded. There is a little slide, too. I didn't actually know about this area until after my 2nd trip to the resort!

:cool1:

Sitting at MCO with three hours to spare, so here's a quick review of my recent stay at BC CL from 5/2 - 5/8 (we stayed an extra night at WL).

*snip*

Thank you so much for your review and candid feedback!

:thumbsup2

The lounge has homemade potato chips and yummy dip in the afternoon along with cookies and gummy candy. Great for a quick drink and snack, but they are displayed in bulk on platters, jars and bowls. In my experience, there weren't any single serve packages that you could bring along to the parks. Hope that helps your shopping!

Can't remember if you have posted before, or recently, so :welcome:

Actually, this sign was at the main elevator, so they did still have to walk down the hall to access the rooms on the third floor. This picture was taken on Friday, but the sign was still there as of this morning.

At the airport now, so we are headed home. We had a great trip, and we booked a BB for POR in December, but we are already thinking about trying to change it to the BC. For now, I will definitely stay following this thread!

Glad that you will be sticking around to hang out with the cool kids.

Please let us know if (when) you change your booking to the Beach Club.

:goodvibes:

Happy Mother's Day BC/YC Moms!!

5 more days 'til we arrive!! Excited, but also at the point where I feel there's more than 5 days worth of stuff to cram in those days!!

Anyway, we are going to want to be at HS super early one day, for SWW, well before boats start running. (but when do they start running for those early HS days for further reference). I know we could walk, but we could get a little bit more sleep if we cabbed it.

So after that long explaination - how much (and how long) would a cab from BC to HS be? (It's not a crazy out of the way drive either, right?)

Thanks!

I wish I could give you answers! I have never been confident quoting definitively when the boats (or even buses) at the resorts start running.

A cab should not be too much money, or take very long, but I don't have exact figures.

:)

Spending my Mother's Day in a post vacation haze. We had the most perfect vacation at the YC and Disney world. I really never wanted to leave. I was happy to come back to leaves on the trees and green everywhere. But I certainly don't want to start back to real life tomorrow. Thanks to everyone on this board for all the great info. I hope to keep following - still not sure where we will stay our next trip!

:cool1:

Glad you be sticking with us here on the thread.

:goodvibes

We we there at the same time.
I agree about some of the CL staff.. That CJ needs a real attitude adjustment but everyone else was fine.
I also noticed that they never seem to say "enjoy the day" or anything when you walked by the CL desk.. Weird because YC, GL and WL always make a comment as you walk to the elevators.

With all that said, DD and I decided to move our July trip from Poly to BC CL.. She loved the food they offered and loved the new rooms.

Got it! I'll add you back onto the Be Our Guest list. I saw in a subsequent post that you booked Water View.

:thumbsup2

Hello there. This is my first post on the dis boards. I wanted to use it to say how fun this forum is! Also, myself, my wife and two children will be returning to the world in June. We are staying at the Beach club and I can't wait!

:welcome: to this thread and to posting on the DIS.

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

Hi, we're hoping to return to the BC next year. We had a standard room last time and it overlooked Epcot and next to the secret door and had room to fit a rollaway in.

Looking to book a garden view and wondering if the Epcot view is also classed in the garden view category. And on the UK site it has the standard room sleeping unto 5 with some having a daybed but the garden view rooms it has only 4 and no mention of a daybed. I'm wondering if some of the garden view rooms do come with daybeds or if they are smaller and will not take a rollaway. I'm sure in the U.S. Site they state garden view can sleep up to 5!?

Thanks for clarifying.

:welcome: back!

I'm not sure how many rooms at the Beach Club have daybeds, or where they are located. I do know that prior to the refurbishment, only one of the GV rooms on the 5th floor (club level) had a daybed.

:)

Question for all of you...I follow the October 2015 Discount Code Watch forum and several folks have received UOC (used to be called PINs) for %off or FD for October. The FD seems to be the same dates as the PROMO just released, but the dates of the %off (20% or 30%) includes the middle of October.

My question is, since no one really knows how these codes are distributed, I'm wondering that since I have been at WDW several times over the past couple of years, if I'm not within their criteria - maybe they are more interested in attracting less frequent visitors, or new visitors.... Has anyone received an UOC who HAS been there in the past year?

I'm really hoping for a discount...it would be a GREAT anniversary present!!
I'm not sure if this helps, but this is my experience. I book all of our trips in my name. Several years ago, I registered my husband on the Disney site and requested a video. Pretty soon after that, he received a PIN in the mail. He gets one every year now. They never come in my name, but like I said, I book our trips in my name. I don't know if it is just a coincidence, but this is our experience.

Hi Cari, Thanks....Yes, I have done all that, even have a Dis Visa, and order the CDs often....get all sorts of other Disney email...

But my question is, if you did get the latest one offering fall %off or FD, have you visited WDW within the last year....wondering if, because I have gone a few times lately, if I'm not in the group that gets the offers....just a curiosity.
We went twice last year and were booked for december when we got the latest pin. I really have no clue what the secret is.

Actually, the last one was in DH's name. Although I never signed him up for anything, and I think I've always been the lead person on the accounts.

Appreciate your thoughts....keeping my fingers and toes crossed that we get one. I just signed up my hubby for the DVD and all the mail...he'll be thrilled to start getting all that stuff....hee hee hee

I think PIN code is a lot like an upgrade, you always wish you can have one but it only happens when you least expect. Been going to the World since the late '70's, get the DVDs most every year even if we don't have a trip planned, signed up for everything, even have my Disney VISA, and I can honestly say I have never received an email from the mouse with a code that offers me a discount. Guess they know a sucker when they see one.

Thanks, Katesdad...I think you are right. I'm one of those suckers that they can see coming a mile away too!

This is one of the GREAT MYSTERIES OF THE UNIVERSE...On the October Discount forum, people are getting them left and right.....and most of them can't use them.... ARGH!!

I'll keep watching and waiting...not so patiently, but we're going no matter what, and have our Garden Room reserved, - it will be a GREAT trip, whether we get a discount or not!

:)

Happy Friday Stormalong peeps! Homework break :) My iPhone app tells me it is 90 days until Beach Club!!!!!!!!!! We will be at Anna Maria Island the week before (anxiously awaiting Teena's July visit for a review), but my heart belongs to WDW always. I am loving reading about everyone's trips and planning. DS14 had his last middle school concert last night (Dee I know you feel my pain), and we came home and watched...you guessed it WDW YouTube videos. I am also watching out for PIN codes, just because we have APs and we NEED to use them!! But we also have Universal APs....2015-2016 planning is going to be way fun :)

In 12 hours I should be checked in at the Beach Club!!!!!!:banana::cheer2::cheer2::cool1::cool1:

That's alll...

But if anyone has any questions I'll be happy to try and get them answered (though it's just me and the small guy for most of the trip and he takes A LOT of attention but I'll do my best).

Ok totally OT but can you please send us some positive vibes. My youngest has a very special day tomorrow and my mum ( his only grandparent) was all set to come with my sister but is now currently sitting in the local hospital as her doctor thinks she may have a dvt in her leg. They'll both be gutted if she can't make it :(. He's the youngest grandchild and mum has been to see them all make their 1st Communion so it's a really big deal for her especially. Thanks for listening to my panic.

Pixie dust!!! and HUGS! Is she driving or flying? I pray the doctor gives her the all clear to travel. In my opinion, not OT as the DIS has lots of powerful pixie dust! Keep us updated!

She only lives about 30 minutes from me and my sister lives 5 minutes from her so she will pick her up. Mum turned 80 this year and has recently given up driving as she has some memory/ processing problems now. I know if the worst happens we can visit her at the hospital hug I'm really hoping she won't be admitted so she can be here. Thanks for the well wishes and you're right everyone on this thread does feel like family!!
