I have never been a resort/date changer before but I guess one should never say never. Changing our vacation for the 3rd time, hopefully this is the charm!
Dear Dee, sorry to make you hack away at the BOG list but due to pre-soccer camp soccer camp (yes, they schedule a soccer camp before the regular soccer camp at our lovely HS) we have changed our YC CL dates to 7/30-8/4 and then we move on to BWI for the next 5 nights. What cracked me up was the only two resorts to still have discounted rooms available in CL for our dates were the ones we wanted. :woohoo: Kismet? Fate? The hand of Mickey? pixiedust:
You decide...

Hi Everyone,

Checking in 07/01 Beach Club and that evening we have ADR at the Whispering Canyon. Any suggestions on best/quickest way to get there. After dinner we are thinking of going to MK for a ride or two.

We do have a car but after driving down from Massachusetts I am not sure anyone will ne thrilled on jumping back into the minivan. :confused3

All comments welcomed :thumbsup2

Alternate Options to Driving Yourself ...

1 -- Take a cab to WL. Then boat over to WL. Return to BC via bus.

2 -- Take the boat or walk to DHS. Grab a bus there to WL.

3 -- If you have park hoppers, walk thru Epcot exit the front of the park and take the bus to WL. If visiting MK, you would already be using a park day on your tickets so know that is not an issue, would just have to be hoppers.

Enjoy whichever way you get there.

We are here now. Did EPCOT yesterday and it was great. We got everything done we wanted and the weather was good though a little hot when the sun was direct. Today our day was a bust. There were dozens of people waiting for the AK bus that never came so we drove today getting there an hour late and it was hot, humid and super crowded...I thought it was a recommended day? Safari ride was great today but then we got stormed out and basically did not do anything but the Rain Forest Cafe and the safari...bummer. We are back now and waiting for the storm to clear so we can go swimming.

We are disappointed with CL so far. We really enjoyed WL CL a few years ago. I love BC but DH prefers WL. We were not thrilled to get a handicapped room (DH needs a shower massage) and there are several things broken in the bathroom. Other than that I love BC!

That is very disappointing about a bus never showing up. We almost always drive ourselves to AK because we don't like the wait, ride, stop at BB, finally get to AK. Maybe you can hit AK again this trip -- do the pool in the am and then head over late afternoon. We did that last year, arrived around 3 pm or so and still got a lot in that day.

As far as the room, please call housekeeping/maintenance right away to let them know what needs fixed. You shouldn't have to deal with anything broken. We've had to call before as well and I find it better than being upset something isn't right. Alternatively, have you asked about changing rooms? That would solve the broken items issue as well as not wanting the handicapped accessible room.

What has been the issue with CL? Not enough offerings, CMs not helpful, room location?

Thank you everyone for the DME info. I guess I'll just need to keep my fingers crossed that all three resorts will be on the same bus!

We also had major AK bus problems but we were at CSR. There were so many people waiting, that they finally turned a Blizzard beach bus ( there must have been 10 of this'd first thing in the morning) into a AK bus!!

Ok, so let me fill you in on this resort. (Port Orleans Riverside)

First of all the buses are fine so don't believe the drama queens who can't cope with a bus. Basically, the same triumphs and tragedies one experiences at ANY resort can be found at POR. We are at the east stop which is the last stop before the bus departs for it's off resort site destination. We've had no trouble getting a seat and we are the last stop! Contrast this with the All Star resorts and the saying "you get what you pay for" comes to mind. Those All Star resorts are a zoo when it comes to the buses, with long lines and all ready 'filled to capacity' buses pulling up to YOUR stop! Nuff said!

The food court is the same as any food court with all the triumphs and tragedies that you experience at any other resort. At dinner and breakfast it can be crowded, lunch time... not so much. We haven't eaten at Boatwright's or what ever it is called, but we did have appetizers for dinner at the bar next door where YeeHaa Bob performs.... and they were awesome. Bob was pretty tasty too, so if you get the chance to see him, definitely do it! I figure the appetizers come out of the same kitchen so we would be willing to try it if we needed a sit down restaurant.

The pool, I told you about. I forgot to mention the other ubiquitous group that populates the pool and that's the Teeny Boppers. These are the kids that will participate in ALL of the pool games that the recreation staff can come up with AND they know all the dances. If a Mom should jump up there to do one of the dances she invariably looks like she is being stung by invisible bees as she makes her moves. These teeny boppers don't care however because they are in it for the FABULOUS prizes that are given out during these pool games. After watching the T.B-ers dance their padooka's off I was looking for the toaster ovens and paninni presses that I was sure they were giving away. As luck would have it they didn't even have the gumption to give the kids a lousy pair of fuzzy dice. All they were getting were those "Silly Bands", which in grown up terms is a funny shaped rubber band. Dey wuz robbed I tells ya!

A cab from this resort to any other resort is around the $20 or under mark. The laundry is also fine as there are many machines and most are in good working order. There is a small, in room, safe where Ninja Mom is hiding the good snacks from the rest of the boys. They think that bag of chocolate bars fell out of the bag and is rolling around the trunk of some cab. ::yes:: At night when I hear the snoring I make my move and get some... all undetected and undiscovered. The Mousekeeper is going to wonder why a guest felt compelled to store empty snickers bars wrappers in the "in room" safe. I guess they've finally seen it all....

And there's our fav  make your own Pasta bar in the food court too. Even when we aren't staying at POR we sometimes make a trip over for it!!

Yikes! Glad we didn't have any bus probs at AKL last August. 12 nights, busses were pretty good, thankfully.

We thought about asking to switch rooms but I knew GV was booked and we had so much stuff that we just wanted to chill after a long two days in the car and a kid that threw up half the trip. As far as the lounge goes, it is tough to find a table and not enough offerings.

If I remember correctly, info comes out in a series of announcements over the next several months, first the booths and then the menus.

Thanks! I signed up for the food blog so I hope to get the menu from it once it's available. I'm so excited to go. Are you going this fall to F&W?

Today is our no park day so just chillin' at the pool until lightening was spotted. Sidewalk refurb at the pool going on so it has made getting to the slide a little longer.

I love chillin at the pool days
:beach:
We are having a blast at YC. This morning we went to AK and it was HOT. We decided to ride Kali first and that made the heat bearable.

I noticed that YC, BC, S&D, and BW shared the AK bus today. YC and BC are the only resorts sharing the MK bus.

We are having a great trip. Our room is GV cl near the lounge. We have a day bed and a beautiful view. We were able to watch a vow renewal from our balcony yesterday.

It is raining now, but we plan to go to the MK in a little while.
Sounds like your having a great time:wizard:

We arrive the same day as you... only 20 more:banana:

:offtopic:
Last weekend I threw my sister a baby shower for her first princess set to arrive at the end of July. I gave her a bazillion Disney outfits and plush toys and the like. I had been buying everything on sale at the Disney Store.

My aunt who refuses to travel so has never experienced WDW looked at me like:scared1:
She later told my mom she thinks I have an obsession with Disney things... my mom told her " no , she has an obsession with going to Disney World":rolleyes1

It's getting close - 18 days for us!

Don't worry about your Disney obsession - we all have it and it's a GOOD thing!

I was so excited to get a granddaughter after two grandsons just so I could buy her princess dresses!!!

Now I'm worried - what do you mean not enough offerings?

Here's what we are used to in BC CL.

Breakfast - oatmeal, fresh fruit, mini muffins, croissants, bagels, pastries, cereal, hard boiled eggs, juice, coffee etc.

Evening appetizers - cheese and crackers, two cold appetizers, two hot appetizers, little rolls with small cups of peanut butter and jelly.

Has this changed?

We hardly ever make it desserts but I remember they usually had about three mini desserts and cookies.

Please don't tell me the home made chips and dip are gone - they are my favorite!

Yeah!!!! I'm glad to hear you say that about the Pasta Bar because DS (11) would eat pasta for every meal if he could!! That was a HUGE selling point for him when I said we were staying in a Royal River View room.

This seems right. The chips and dip are there. I did not try to dip maybe I should. The evening desserts were only mini cupcakes and cookies at least on our first night. I know I should aks but there were no juices boxes in the fridge. There just seemed like a lot less that WL CL. It is mainly the lack of space in the lounge. I ate standing up this morning.

Had a yummy chicken sandwich at Hurricane Hannahs but we were dive bombed several times by brazen birds trying to steal our french fries.

Please ask for whatever you need, especially the juice boxes. Even for some extras to put in your room fridge.

We were there last summer and there were times I also felt they ran out of things a little too early but overall there was enough and we did ask if there was a drink we needed but was not in the fridge in the lounge.

Space can be tight, but if your room is close enough, would you consider taking back to enjoy there? We were not exactly close but sometimes one of us would run down and get some things and bring back that way we were there early enough to get some items before they were out -- although not always possible depending on where we were coming from/going to -- and then we were not stressed about finding a seat.

Glad to hear your enjoyed your chicken sandwich from HH. We've also seen some of the nasty birds but didn't have so much an issue with them when we've been seated at the tables up under the "pavilion" at SAB, up the stairs to the back of HH.

Sorry to hear about your sick child -- I know that was not a good way to start the vacation! Here's hoping things are settling down and you can begin to enjoy all there is at BC and WDW.

You Found me  I am the bus "DRAMA QUEEN" princess: in our house. I wear my title well. You will see me with the grouchy face with 2 kids and 2 strollers, back back, disney bags, sitting/usually standing on the bus to MK & AK the week of Aug 23-30.

Ya know the Imagineers have thought of just about everything right why can't they come up with a way to pixiedust: poof us from one place to another.

Any one know of a suggestion box because wishes and bus in the same sentence and I freak. Don't say monorail either my luck and it would get stuck. :scared: lots of people and tight places oh no, No NOOO!
