Been lurking in this thread for a bit. We'll be at YC CL for the first time in August (8/22-8/26).
My question is about SAB. I know from seeing some pictures that swim vests are available. Where do you get them (at POFQ last year, we got them in the gift shop - is there a specific place by SAB)? And then the important question - can kids go down the slide in a vest? The answer at other resorts has been yes (it was definitely not an issue at POFQ), but I'm thinking that I read that it's not allowed at SAB. What's the official policy? DS5 is in the process of swim lessons, but if he's not swimming by August I want to be sure to prepare him if he's not going to be able to go on the slide.
I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.
I'm not sure where the life jackets are located but there is a gift shop, "Poolside gifts", so if you don't see the rack of vests, ask there. I remember hearing that if for some reason all vests are being used, you can go over to the YC marina and ask for one there.
I don't have any first-hand knowledge, but reports I have read indicate that kids are allowed to go down the slide in a vest.
Oh my stars!! I'm doing it again natebenma!! Doing the resort switch and I promise, last time!! After much thought and still no PIN, I'm going to switch back to POR, but I also switched dates, Dec. 16-23. It was cheaper for my DSis to fly out on a Monday vs. a Saturday, so I'm trying to keep her costs down. My DH will not be joining us, instead he will be hunting in Minnesota with the guys from work. Working on Disney crafts this summer with my kiddos that I found on Pinterest!! Ninjamom, I've been reading your TR closely!!
No problem! Once again, I will keep you on the list with an indication that you have defected to POR
There's still time between now and December, so maybe a discount will appear and you will find your way back, but in any case I know you will have a fabulous trip!!!
And you absolutely need to stick around, especially now that we have branched out from YC/BC to absolutely hilarious POR reports!
I have never been a resort/date changer before but I guess one should never say never. Changing our vacation for the 3rd time, hopefully this is the charm!
Dear Dee, sorry to make you hack away at the BOG list but due to pre-soccer camp soccer camp (yes, they schedule a soccer camp before the regular soccer camp at our lovely HS) we have changed our YC CL dates to 7/30-8/4 and then we move on to BWI for the next 5 nights. What cracked me up was the only two resorts to still have discounted rooms available in CL for our dates were the ones we wanted.

Kismet? Fate? The hand of Mickey?

You decide...
I will update the Be Our Guest list accordingly. Sounds like an awesome split!!!
Hi Everyone,
Checking in 07/01 Beach Club and that evening we have ADR at the Whispering Canyon. Any suggestions on best/quickest way to get there. After dinner we are thinking of going to MK for a ride or two.
We do have a car but after driving down from Massachusetts I am not sure anyone will ne thrilled on jumping back into the minivan.
All comments welcomed
Alternate Options to Driving Yourself ...
1 -- Take a cab to WL. Then boat over to WL. Return to BC via bus.
2 -- Take the boat or walk to DHS. Grab a bus there to WL.
3 -- If you have park hoppers, walk thru Epcot exit the front of the park and take the bus to WL. If visiting MK, you would already be using a park day on your tickets so know that is not an issue, would just have to be hoppers.
Enjoy whichever way you get there.
What time do you arrive at the Beach Club and when do you need to be at WCC?
If you have park hoppers and enough time, my suggestion is to walk through EP to the monorail, go to MK and take the boat over to the restaurant. That will keep you out of a motor vehicle and get you into EP, and the monorail (it is TOO a ride) and a pleasant boat trip to start your trip.
If you don't have the time, then I think a cab is the way to go.
Loving all the live reports!!! Thanks so much for taking the time to share your trips with us and help us mark time until our own visits.
Update from yesterday 6/10- yesterday was DHS day. Got there at 8:45, which was a little later than I wanted. Bag check lines were pretty long at this point. Got to Toy Story and got in FP line by 9:25 (the FP line was already long and regular line was 60min). Our return time was 2:15.
Headed over to ToT and did that with a wait of about 40 min. Went to RNR and the wait was already at 2 hours. Unfortunately we had our FP for ToT out there so we had to pass it by. Should have been to DHS earlier!
We did everything else we wanted and left after we ride toy story. To the hotel and the pool by 3:30. Hubby and I both concurred that this is our least favorite park. It seems layed out so haphazard and everyone is down by ToT and no one is at the other side of the park except when I big show lets out and then it crazy packed in that area. Loved star tours - it was closed the last time we were here.
Did a quick swim in the quiet pool to cool down. Had an enjoyable dinner at
Cape May. We went back to DHS for F! 3 of my family got to go on
RNR coaster via the single rider line be because the other was over an hour. The other 2 of us got in line for F! The wait was not pleasant as they had you jam together and even at 9pm it was hot and sweaty. The second show was not at capacity so we could have waited till later to get in line but we didn't want to chance it. After the show we finished out EMH with the ToT twice and left when it closed. No wait for the boat.
Today is our no park day so just chillin' at the pool until lightening was spotted. Sidewalk refurb at the pool going on so it has made getting to the slide a little longer.
We are having a blast at YC. This morning we went to AK and it was HOT. We decided to ride Kali first and that made the heat bearable.
I noticed that YC, BC, S&D, and BW shared the AK bus today. YC and BC are the only resorts sharing the MK bus.
We are having a great trip. Our room is GV cl near the lounge. We have a day bed and a beautiful view. We were able to watch a vow renewal from our balcony yesterday.
It is raining now, but we plan to go to the MK in a little while.
We are here now. Did EPCOT yesterday and it was great. We got everything done we wanted and the weather was good though a little hot when the sun was direct. Today our day was a bust. There were dozens of people waiting for the AK bus that never came so we drove today getting there an hour late and it was hot, humid and super crowded...I thought it was a recommended day? Safari ride was great today but then we got stormed out and basically did not do anything but the Rain Forest Cafe and the safari...bummer. We are back now and waiting for the storm to clear so we can go swimming.
We are disappointed with CL so far. We really enjoyed WL CL a few years ago. I love BC but DH prefers WL. We were not thrilled to get a handicapped room (DH needs a shower massage) and there are several things broken in the bathroom. Other than that I love BC!
Thanks, again, and hope that today is a magical one for all of you there now.

I know this is off topic but I also know you will understand my excitement! We've just finalized our stay off site for our US/IOA/SEAWORLD portion of our trip.

We're arriving the Friday before our BC stay and doing 1 day at each of the other parks. We got a great deal at the Best Western Plus which is a partner hotel, and we will get to have early entry to both of them for Harry Potter and Transformers. We also got a great deal on our SW tickets that basically gives us unlimited
free dining for the day.
Thank you for your attention. Now back to our regularly scheduled topics!
I totally understand your excitement! I'm sure I have already pointed you in the direction of my "Welcome Foolish Muggles" trip report in which Disney Diehards tackle the "Other Orlando"- SW/IoA/US. We will also be visiting the Dark Side for a few days before our return to Disney & the Beach Club this July.

Last weekend I threw my sister a baby shower for her first princess set to arrive at the end of July. I gave her a bazillion Disney outfits and plush toys and the like. I had been buying everything on sale at the
Disney Store.
My aunt who refuses to travel so has never experienced WDW looked at me like
She later told my mom she thinks I have an obsession with Disney things... my mom told her " no , she has an obsession with going to Disney World"
You should get the baby a couple of shares of Disney stock. The actual certificates are beautiful and that way the family can benefit from all of your trips and shopping.
Win-Win!
