We have never stayed deluxe or club level, but we have stayed at the Beach Club with our three children, 1 boy and two girls, many times when they were teens and there was plenty of room for all of us. But if my choice was between a standard view room at the Yacht Club, which is a lovely view of roofs and parking lot, plus it is farther away from Epcot, or a deluxe at BC, most of which are lagoon/pool views, I would go for the BC deluxe. We had a free upgrade to a BC deluxe room one time and it was really nice to have that extra space. I think the kids liked it more than we did. :goodvibes

All very good points! I guess it's kind if like upgrading to a water view with added bonus of more space.

Thanks natebenma for starting the BCV photo thread and Best Aunt for posting additional pics!

Silly (i.e., uninformed) question - is there any downside to staying in BCV if we are not DVC members? Do we lose out on any privileges or amenities?

It will only be our second trip to the World next year and am still trying to learn all the booking/lodging tips.

Thanks!

Hello everyone!

So according to the new discount, i can go from a YC standard view club level to a BC deluxe for $395 more. We are a family of 5, kids ages 22, 20 and 13.

Talk me into/out of the move, please and thank you. We travel May 17-23.

Thanks!

I haven't stayed in a Deluxe Room, but we do have lots of details about these rooms from other guests who have-

Check out the info on this thread:

Beach Club Deluxe, Suites, VP and Presidential Rooms

There are actually more benefits to staying at the BCV when you book a cash stay through Disney rather than a points stay through the DVC. We always booked a cash stay and we received the same daily housekeeping services, including having the dishes washed daily, that a regular BC resort guest receives. I think the only thing the DVC stay gets is a lower cost for the room.

Hi PolyAddict! I strongly recommend the move to BC deluxe! We've stayed in regular-sized BC rooms, a regular-sized YC room, BC deluxe room and the BC 2-bedroom suite. We love the extra space in the deluxe room. The only negative is the distance from the lounge, but we found the extra space in the room more than compensated for that. And it's even less of an issue for you, since your kids are teens and adults. (When we stayed in a deluxe room, our kids were not yet old enough to go up to the lounge on their own.)

Speaking of the lounge, I've missed recent discussion regarding the renovations. I understand it may happen in June and that the lounge will be located in the Presidential Suite during that time. We'll be in WDW for our youngest son's birthday/Marathon Weekend next year, and he'd like to return to BC. Any information to share regarding the post-renovation BC club lounge?

Thanks! I have a pro/con list going and it seems like the distance and possible noise from quiet pool/hot tub can be an issue. My pro/cons are about equal as it stands right now!

We've stayed around the quiet pool at BC several times during different seasons, and haven't had any difficulty with noise at all. When we overlooked the quiet pool at YC, there was just a little happy noise, but nothing that bothered us!

I leave Thursday for marathon weekend! We are staying just across the water at Boardwalk, but I'm sure I"ll be visiting Beach and Yacht Clubs at some point and will make sure to take pics & post them here. Hope everyone stays warm these next few days!

If you're staying at BCV on cash, you don't lose out on any privileges or amenities related to the room itself.

DVC members get discounts on some restaurants, tours, etc. We get a 10% discount on all merchandise purchased at locations at WDW that are owned & operated by Disney. We get a discount on the membership fee if we join Owners Locker (they store stuff in the Orlando area so people don't have to bring it back and forth). We get free DVD rentals at the community hall or in the hotel itself if there is no community hall.

We don't get free dining.

We probably have the advantage when it comes to booking rooms. Since BCV is my home resort, I can book there 11 months ahead on points. I don't think you can book 11 months ahead on cash. And there are only so many rooms allocated to cash. Additional rooms only become available if DVC members use their points to book outside the Disney system. So if you want a 2-bedroom with 2 queen beds in the second bedroom at BCV during Food & Wine -- you may find that they are never available to book with cash.

Last time asking, I promise - I am looking for the yacht club building room number map. I know it's very old but it's floated on this forum once or twice lately. I checked the main pages and the only room number map I see is only the 4th and 5th floors and I know I've seen on that had more floors notated on it. As always, ya'll are the best. Thanks!

Since the season will soon be upon us, of people posting and asking what time the 3 o'clock parade starts and whether the water in the pool is wet, I thought it might be time to spill the beans on Buzzy's behavior during our trip in December.

As some of you know (and others are soon to find out!) Buzzy is the official Beach Club Bon Vivant. Born of a fly infestation (some say convention, after all The BC is a convention resort!) last summer, he came and refused to leave. Through the unfortunate intervention of genetic engineering he was able to supersede his natural lifetime and he is still with us to this day.

Some of us here at the thread have come to know Buzzy and his slovenly ways on an intimate basis. He can be relied upon to check out the resort from time to time and report on a "Fly's eye view" to those desiring information on the dirty details of the resort.

Nannette and I had the misfortune to get roped into a trip with Buzzy where we got an up close and personal view of why it is NEVER a good idea to share your Disney trip with a insect devoid of all manners.

Consider yourself warned!

On the surface Buzzy appears to be a good natured and some what sentimental fly. For this trip we did not stay at the Beach Club (Buzzy Hops!) but from time to time we did catch him longingly gazing at the resort.

We even had to pry him off the pylon at the Secret Entrance to the resort.

Finally, between Nannette and I, we were able to grasp all six of his little legs and rip him away from his beloved Beach Club. We dragged him toward the International gate with the promise of a Margarita with Couchy. This was the only way we could get him to keep quiet as we snuck him thorough bag check.

To be continued!

FYI- we are on "New Thread Watch". When a thread reaches jumbo status at 250 pages it gets closed, so sometime in the next few days I will be setting up a new home for us. I'll let you know when it is open for business.

We will be staying at BC 6/10-6/15/2014 for the 1st time! It is our 17th family trip so we are excited to finally stay at BC. We will be traveling to the 'darkside' for a few days prior. I'd love to have a full balcony since this will be a more relaxing trip!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

:cool1:

My family did a Dark Side (Hard Rock) and Disney (Beach Club) split in July. I have a trip report from our US/IoA trip in 2011 (Welcome Foolish Muggles) and a trip report in progress from our summer trip (Hijinks and Shenanigans, but not much Mayhem)

Hello All!

I've just booked the BC CL 2nd - 9th Oct! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

We went last year for the first time and stayed as SSR which was perfect as we ran around like loons whilst we were there. This time we are going for a little more rest & relaxation so have booked the Beach Club, Club Level! Hoping to get more time to relax round the pool, and see the 'other' side of WDW this time!

Can't wait. We didn't even vist the boardwalk area of Disney when we went so it'll be something completely new :)

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

Please let us know if you have any questions. You will love the location of the Beach Club- super close to EPCOT and BW.

:wave2:

We haven't heard much about the plans for the club lounge renovations other than the lounge will be expanded. Can't wait to see what it looks like when it is finished.

:yay:

Thanks for sharing Buzzy's exploits with us!

I look forward to hearing more about the trip.

:scared:

Since I am reading posts about the lounge being renovated, I assume the rooms are too. Is this correct? Is there a time frame?

No DEFINITE time frame at this time. It is anticipated that the regular room and hallway renovations that ALL Disney resorts go through on a schedule will start this summer (probably July or August). The renovations at the BC will include an enlargement of the Club Level Lounge. From what I hear the lounge will be done first. While that is being enlarged and renovated, the lounge will be set up in the Presidential Suite. It is huge and it will be a treat for guests to actually get to see that Suite. Thereafter, all rooms/hallways will be renovated (as happens at every Disney Resort). The fifth floor obviously will be done first, one section at a time so as not to disrupt the other part of the fifth floor. When the fifth floor is done, the fourth floor starts, section by section so as not to disrupt other guests.

Most people have probably stayed at a Disney resort while the normally scheduled renovations are going on. It is rare you would even notice anything or hear anything. All "noise" work is done during the day when guests are at the pool or at the parks.

If a problem should arise (like you have a baby and return at 1 PM for a nap every day and you are unlucky enough to get a room near where construction is occurring and the noise is a nuisance), then all you need to do is talk to one of the front desk CMs and they will get you moved to a section where naps during the day for children will not be near any noise at all.

Again, I've stayed at the Grand and the BC during these renovations and if I hadn't known about it from reading about it, I would never had known.

I would NEVER change my reservations to another resort because of renovations and there is also a chance that if you switch to another resort, that resort could also be going through renovations. It's a process that is continuous all over WDW.

Yes, rooms too.

We don't really have a time frame.

We believe the work on the BC lounge will be started in June. When that is done, rooms on the 5th floor will be refurbed, one section at a time. Then work will move onto the 4th floor rooms, then 3rd, etc...

I wasn't around for the last BC/YC renovation in 2008/2009, so I don't know how long that process took.
