We booked BCV as cash, not points. Besides the normal things daily housekeeping does, do they replenish other things in the villa daily? The pics posted at the link above made me wonder about detergent samples.

The BC will begin renovations of ALL rooms, hallways, etc. in the summer of 2014. SNIP! Whole renovation time frame I do not know. It depends on the amount of rehab/renovation. This is going to be a major one from what I hear.

Thanks for the update Teena. Would you be sure and pass on to the powers that be that we need a renovation to our kinda secret, FANTASY 'closet'? Matthew McConaughey and Johnny Depp keep escaping from their handcuffs and are putting dents in the steel door as they try to break out. Also the Sunkin Treasure dispensing machine is getting kind of squeaky from all the use.

I'll pass on your recommendations tomorrow.

Wow, this thread really is special. Thanks for all the love sent our way. It means the world. I'll lift the mood a bit, by submitting some good news. The idea of planning a WDW vacation is taking our mind off of things, and thanks to a certain offer that I know many of us know about......Dee? Will you augment our BOG listing for the better? Our plans are now.... BEACH CLUB (Std view) August 15-17 YC (CL-LV) August 17-23 GF (GV) August 23-25 (Whew!) How Beachy! How Nautical! How Grand!

Hello to all BC/YC thread followers! This is Tom, though you all know me as Scott Mc's DP JNPants. Just wanted to say my own thank you to all of you for the kind words as we deal with the very sudden and unexpected loss of our cat, Henry. Pets are such important family members and Henry will be sorely missed.

That being said, we welcome the distraction of planning our next Disney getaway and I have vowed to be a more active Dis-er. I feel like I know many of you already through Scott and look forward to more interactions in the future!

Here's an official :welcome: to the thread, but I feel like somehow I already know you!!!

Once again, I am so sorry about Henry.

Can anyone recommend a local bakery when we visit in August? I would like a small bday cake for DD, as getting one from Disney seems to be outside my budget. I will have a car and do not mind picking it up. Thank you!

Where is the best place outside of the International Gateway to watch Illuminations? My parents are joining us at BC for a couple of days but expect to arrive late one evening so they won't get a park pass for that day. 14 days away from our first BC stay is getting so exciting!!

I'll make the adjustment to the listing. Sounds like a spectacular trip! I like the caption for your split stay. Is that going to be the title of the PTR you have been promising us???

;)

Now, now! Pas would not be the first person who ever made changes to the Be Our Guest list. And I am sure she would not even come close to our record-holder changer... :rolleyes1

Pas knows I'm not happy that she changed from Poly! As I'll be there :goodvibes

Well, we just got back from our December Disney Christmas trip and booked a bounce back offer for 4/19-4/25 at YC CL! We had to book 4/19 as a separate stay, so that'll be fun. Hopefully, we won't have to move rooms but I guess we'll have to recheck in the next morning.

We stayed at POFQ but of course came over to see the YC/BC to have dinner and see the special Christmas decorations and looked longingly at the balcony that had been our room in July. lol

It was our first trip with magic bands. I had a blue one that I painted with nail polish -blue sparkles and a clear sparkle that I got many compliments on from the CM. Got that tip from the boards. :) The lines were crazy since it was Christmas vacation. Even the FP+ lines were long, mostly b/c it would take people such a long time to scan the band. So, there were these long lines outside of the rides for FP+(-). We saw so many families that had hired Disney guides. One group had 3 disney guides! Now that's an awesome way to do Christmas at Disney. We did the Candlelight Processional for the first time (great!) and had a FP+ ressie for BOG lunch. It was a great trip with great weather. Now I can't wait to go in April! :yay:

We have had good luck going back a bit - to bridges connecting yc to swan - but others may have other suggestions. Obviously miss the lake effects

I don't have any personal experience with bakeries at Disney or nearby, but this is what a search of bakeries in Lake Buena Vista turned up:

A couple of places I have read about are the bridge between BC and BW or even the BC/YC beach. Eagle Scout has another idea below.

See below for a couple of pictures from the "Other Useful Info" post on Page 1.

Great suggestion! I haven't heard this location before.

Can you see any of the Illuminations fireworks from places around the resort?

There are a few places where you can view some of the high fireworks from EPCOT's Illuminations show. Many people recommend watching the fireworks from the bridge between the Beach Club and the Boardwalk resort areas. You can also see some of the high fireworks from the Beach Club beach or from the Stormalong Bay pool.

I'll add you to the list!

Thanks for sharing the review of your trip and the tip about how you tricked out your magic band. What a great idea!

:woohoo:

!! how much nail polish did it take to coat it? i'm thinking i could cover my pink band with an almost finished bottle of glitter polish.

We booked BCV as cash, not points. Besides the normal things daily housekeeping does, do they replenish other things in the villa daily? The pics posted at the link above made me wonder about detergent samples.

I think they replenish the laundry detergent, but I'm not positive. I seem to remember hiding the unused box of detergent in a drawer in the bathroom so that they would leave another box, when I was staying on cash rather than points. (I planned to do 2 loads of laundry in one night, later in the week. If you haven't used the detergent, I don't know if they will bring more.)

If you're staying on cash and you need more laundry detergent, call MouseKeeping and request it. Be sure to tell them that you're staying on cash. I would think they would bring you more.

If you're staying on cash, Mousekeeping should replenish the bathroom toiletries the same way they would if you were in a regular room.

Not sure about the coffee, sugar, etc., since I don't drink it. I think there is a very small amount in the villa when you check in. But again, if you're staying on cash and run out, call Mousekeeping.

Even if you're staying on points, you can call Mousekeeping if you run out of some things. For example, the extra garbage bags are in the bottom of the trash can. If you discover that you're on the last bag and you're going to need more, you can call Mousekeeping. You can call for tissues, toilet paper, paper towels, detergent for the dishwasher, dishwashing liquid for washing dishes in the sink. Mousekeeping will bring them to your room, even if it's not a day they are supposed to come. (If you're staying on cash and run out of these things, definitely call Mousekeeping.)
