Hi CableKC! I see that Pizarmom told you why she likes BC, I'll tell you why I like YC more:

1st for me a full balcony is my 1st priority & I hate wasting one one my 2 online check in requests on requesting something that's just a given at YC (some will say well you can request as much as you want at call center, but they'll also say the more you you request the more confusing it is for the room scheduler). I love sitting out on the balcony to people watch & read & take in the view. We got a Juliette balcony for 1 night of our BC stay & hated it, we changed rooms.

2nd is transport, YC is the 1st pick up for the buses, so you always get a seat & you get dropped off at the resort 1st after a long park day. When we stayed at BC a lot of the time we had to stand on the ride to the parks. While BC is closer to Epcot, YC is closer to boat launch to Epcot, DHS, boardwalk & swan/dolphin- of course you can walk to any of the places too, but my DH has a bad knee so any little ways to save on walking we do.

3rd I prefer Captains Grille breakfast over Cape Mays (again with a short walk-you can go to either) it is the exact same breakfast buffet & also has a menu to order from also. It's less expensive as no characters, so it's very quiet & you can generally walk up. Were not QS people so the only thing that bothers me about not having the Marketplace is the refillable drink mugs as you can only get drink mugs filled until 11a at Ale & Compass then you need to go to Huricane Hanna's. I think they just need to put in the pop machine at the store in YC & be done with it.

4th SAB yc enterance seems a little closer to YC lobby to me than the SAB bc enterance us to BC lobby. Again a very minimal thing.

The things I like better about BC: the look of the lobby, but it's very busy as people come from all over for Cape May & spill into the lobby to wait to be seated. The ability to refill mugs at Marketplace. That Tenna works there :)!

Our next trip is at BC because there was no availability at YC during our stay, so I'm very open to both places, but my preference is YC mainly for full balcony & the transport proximity to the boat & better bus seating!!! You can't go wrong with either, so have a great trip :thumbsup2!
Thanks....that's some food for thought there. I will have to go through my list of priorities and figure out which is better. Pool being a top priority, that's covered by both......I like the idea of having a balcony ( I think it's a nice touch ). Since CS is the same for both...that's a wash. Hmmm....I will have to now think of it more.....I have roughly 9 months to figure it out....not sure if that is enough time.

We are home. Had a fabulous time at Disney and a truly wonderful stay at the YC. Thumbs up room 3051 and the secret entrance.

Even had a little Dis meet. Thanks for reporting Buzzy. I didn't see you but with your keen eyes you were a good fly on the wall.

Glad you had a nice trip!!!!

Home from my DH's very first visit to Disney World! It was a success!!! His words were "this is nothing like I expected". He wants to go back for F&W 2014 and stay at the YC! I'm all for that for sure!! I will begin to plan this trip ASAP!

Let us know how your DH likes the BCV's. They are my favorite place to stay. :)

He LOVED Disney... I'm not sure he was a fan of BCV's, but he loved the resort! He loves amenities so I think when he goes with me I'll be booking AKL CL or YC CL. He likes maid service daily and you don't get this with BCV's unless you pay extra and I don't see the need for that... I can make my own bed!

Hey Buzzy! You know that we have ANOTHER trip coming up with Nannette in December.... right??

AND I know you have your heart set on that backstage "Poo Pourri" tour at the Animal Kingdom... SO why don't we work on Nannette, and by that I mean wear her down to the NUB, begging to book that tour!

Buzzy, can you get the 'Fly Member' discount, because you know how Nan LOVES a discount? I'll work on finding some Dooney & Bourke hip waders 'cause we might come across some Elephant "Poo Pourri"...
~NM

Let's do it NM!!

Warden Wilson Matua to Nan. Warden Wilson to Nannette..... Any siting of Mr Nan? :drive: There is reports of poachers in this area and we need you to check out BCV area. Please report back. Wilson out....

Lol Mike!!

Love the boots... A pair of those mixed with a Fly discount and nanette will have to go :)
How was the 1st day?

First day was great... Started off with Toy Story Mania where I kicked DH's butt!! Then off to 50's prime time.. food was great, but wasn't a lot of fun... what happened to the fun servers?!?! Then it was off to Star Tours, Tower of Terror and Rock N' RollerCoaster.... This was where I decided I shouldn't take him on anymore coasters... He has a heart condition and though he thinks he can ride them... he shouldn't... more to follow....

got our magic bands today for our first-ever YC/BC stay! :cool1: We'll be at YC Oct 18-20 - just a short stay, but we're excited to try stormalong bay and walking to epcot! :thumbsup2

I got the blue band and it's pretty bright - I'm not sure I love it. We're staying at AKL after and I ordered the pink one for there - maybe it will be a little less neon. If not, I'll just have to cover them both with accessories. ;)

My opinion on Magic Bands.... I LOVED them! I wish I had known more about the accessories before I ordered the color I did.. I ordered the orange (my favorite color) but the things I wanted to accessorize it clashed with the band... I ended up getting the Peace, Love Mickey (3 pop in hard plastic things).

Buzzy the Fly, your lobby spy wants you to know that the lobby was busy tonight with a lot of Beach Club groupies hanging around!!!

That restraining order that the management has taken out against Buzzy hasn't taken effect yet so I got to sneak in with Nannette and wait in the lobby until Teena Poppins popped in for dinner with that mom who plays hockey. It was funny because Hockey Mom was not wearing her jersey or lugging her hockey stick so she must be in stealth mode this trip!

I ditched Nannette and headed towards the buffet at Cape May because I have yet to meet a crab leg that I didn't like. Since I am the official Beach Club Bon Vivant I only thought it fair that Nannette share and let me table hop some place else so that her and Mr. Nannette could lose their third wheel. When I finally made it back to the room there was a DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door with a note that said "Buzzy the fly! This means You!!!1!11!!

Let's just sat the SNORING coming from that end of the resort is hearing protection worthy!

Signed, Buzzy, the Kiss and tell fly....

Lol! SNORING is an understatement... BUT that's why they make headphones and IPads and music!!

Nannette - it was great to meet you! Glad your DH enjoyed Disney. Enjoy planning. Tonight I am doing the same.

Teena - hope you are feeling better.

Rebecca

NM- you had me rolling with the 'phone numbers'!!!

And wait... There's accessories for the Magic Bands? Uh oh, that's going to be expensive! Lol!

I'm glad your DH discovered that he liked Disney. :thumbsup2 Was he expecting some sort of overgrown Six Flags or something? :scratchin

How long have you been going to WDW without him?

Good Morning!! We are home finally!! Our plane was delayed a little last night and when we finally got home around 10:45 there were very few cabs from JFK to home, so I finally called the car service I use and they were there around 20 mins later... by the time we got home and to bed it was after 1 for me and DH just got dressed and left for work, so he should be really tired when he gets home... I took a personal day today :)

So now on to the trip :cool1:

DAY 1
We arrived at the BCV's around 11... the wait to check in even with online check in done was a bit longer than I normally have which was a little frustrating, but still ok. Our room wasn't ready yet so we checked our carry on's and headed over to DHS. I had fast pass reservations for Toy Story Mania, Star Tours and Rockin' Roller Coaster. First up was TSM walked right on with the fast pass (at that time they were all out of FP). From there we headed towards Star Tours we didn't need the FP it was a 5 min walk on. DH said he didn't need to ride that again Lol! I was raining when we came out, we had reservations at 50's for lunch, but the reservation was about an hour away, so we decided to just go anyway and see if they could seat us which they did! It wasn't as interactive as it has been in the past, but the fried chicken was great! With lunch over we decided to head over to Tower of Terror which I did not fast pass, but it was a walk on anyway! Then it was over to Rockin' Roller Coaster.... now DH does have a heart condition and takes medication, but said it's fine I can ride it... when we got off his t-shirt was soaked and his pulse was racing... with that I decided I should not take him on anymore roller coasters...
We sat for a bit and everything calmed down so we headed back to the hotel. Our room was ready... room 531 BCV's was a garden view which was all trees and the walkway. The view to the right was the tops of trees, SAB and the very top of the Haunted Mansion. Not sure what I would have seen at night because we weren't there to find out!! DH decided he needed a nap and since I don't nap I was off to the boardwalk to kill some time. I walked over there then over to the Hess station to see if they sold lottery tickets... they don't! Got caught in the rain on the way back, but had a great walk!!

We decided to walk over to EPCOT around 6:30 and walked around the World Showcase. DH loved this!! We spent a lot of time in China watching the shows. Dinner was at La Hacienda with an 8:15 reservation so we could watch Illuminations... We got a great window seat and the food wasn't to bad! After dinner we finished our walk around the World Showcase and ended up at Jelly Rolls (I have never been there) and Atlantic Hall! DH enjoyed both a lot!

All and all a pretty good first day!

Yes LOTS of accessories!!! The 3 pieces I bought were 6.99 with DVC discount... so not horrible price wise!

How long have you been going to WDW without him?

Well I have a 28 year old DD so as long as she has been around at least... I just thought he should go and see where we have a timeshare :confused3 He as always said Disney is for kids, so I wanted to show him that it is as much for adults as it is kids.... You will see how I showed him that as my mini report goes on.

As I recall, it is more like a freezer shelf. Big enough for a couple of trays of ice cubes but not much else.

Thanks for the info! That's perfect! I wanted to know because if it didn't have room for one of those freezer packs then I'd have to bring a bunch of baggies for ice. :goodvibes

Sounds a great first day, can't wait to be there, only 30 days to go!
Can I ask how long it took to walk to the Hess station and was it easy? Also did you notice what the supplies were like, beer, water, crisps?
Looking forward to more of your report.

Thanks
Nic

Took about 20 mins to walk there. They have water, beer, crisps (potato chips) lots to choose from. I walked over because I forgot to buy my lottery ticket from the airport and they don't sell them there!! I didn't really notice prices. What I did was walk over to the boardwalk and through the lobby out the front and followed the path, then crossed over and walked up the road to the store there. Very safe just have to be careful crossing the street.

Thanks!!! Mine came today! Woohoo!!! Did you trim yours down?

I did not trim it. I have very small wrists and it was fine.
