Checked out last night after 3 days at YC! After staying at BC in July we really like YC as well. We spent probably almost 2 hours total over 2 days at the front desk dealing with magic bands and linking them to our reservation and dining. They pretty much had to rebook our reservation to get it to work and it did. It also reset all of our DDP on day 2 so we pretty much got a TS meal and 2 more free mugs. I spoke with another front desk manager about it and she said just keep them for our time lost! DF and I enjoyed a great lunch at Beaches and Cream (were on a time crunch and didn't have time to go anywhere else bc of other reservations and family traveling with us too).

The room was great. When we checked in we were given 3rd floor standard room but when we didn't get a room text and asked the room number we found out we had been upgraded to a Lagoon View and a King Bed too after being told there were no king beds even with upgrade charges so we were thrilled with the Pixie Dust!

Pool was great and not very crowded. Someone did snag a bottle of sunblock I had sitting on my lounge chair with my book and towels. I'm glad there was nothing else expensive sitting on it! They only scanned our MB's only once the 3 days we were there. They did check room keys for non-magic bands.

The night before we checked into YC, I got sick with food poisoning at POP and the Marketplace at BC was very accommodating when I wanted just plain baguette and applesauce as a side.

The coffee in the morning at YC was good but they don't have the flavored syrups sitting out like at the Marketplace. Our meal at Beaches and Cream was really good and we had good service. HH was great service for my friends who used their DDP to eat there.

We used the bus only to MK and it was fine and quick. For the first time we tried room service and got a bowl of $13 chicken noodle soup and it was probably one of the best chicken noodles I've never had. It's a shame they don't sell it in the Marketplace!

Overall we had a great stay and I think now prefer YC over BC. We are looking forward to possibly staying there the first of Dec!

Scoop here! I did laundry at the BC quiet pool this morning. Only two washers and dryers working. A castmember came in with another guy. They were showing him wherevthe new equipment will be installed on 9/9. They will paint the room and install the doublestacked machines. Great news for folks arriving next week.

Good to hear! We just got home from BC today. I don't like doing laundry on my Vaca but with baggage restrictions and staying for 10 nights it was a must. We complained a few times about this glad to hear it is being addressed.

I am SO excited to hear this. My 180 day window opens up on a Sunday. With a daughter who will be 6 months at the time, there's no way I want to wake up before I have to - those precious extra minutes of sleep in the morning are worth the difference in not getting the time at Cali Grill (or getting it at all during my +10 time!)

Good luck with your ADRs! I've always had good luck at the 180 day mark, and I'm glad I didn't wake up at 3am because we were headed to DL that morning and it would have been a very long day!

Congrats on the DL 10k!! :thumbsup2

I'm a little concerned about the crowds for the Princess Half myself. My times were tracking pretty well until a minor injury a week or so ago - hoping to get back up to my usual pace as soon as possible. How much time do you think you lost?

Thanks! For my 10K training runs, I was running about a 9 minute mile and finishing in an average of 56 minutes. But for the DL 10K, it was about a 10 minute mile, and my official time was 1:03. I felt great the entire time, so I think I lost a good amount of time with all my zigging and zagging, running on the edge or on the curb to get around the crowds.

Part of this may be resolved by corral placement at the PHM. For the 10K, I started the race with my husband and teenagers. I didn't think they could all sustain a 9-minute pace for the entire distance, so I estimated their time at an 11 minute mile and started with them in their corral. There were lots of people either walking or doing the Jeff Galloway walk/run in their corral, which meant I needed to weave around quite a bit for the first half of the race. My pace improved for the second half when most of the people around me were running and spread out a little more.

Thanks! We're at YC so hopefully they're far enough up! My new fear is escaping toddlers!

I've had that fear, and although our kids are older now, I remember that I was always comfortable with the security latches at WDW, DL and DCL!

Haven't caught up with the thread - came home from phase 2 of our trip a couple of days ago and the contractor ended up starting a project in our bedroom, so it wasn't a great homecoming! Stuff is still in suitcases for me and DH. Closet is torn up!

I have all my notes for my trip report. Can't wait to start working on it, but I need to transfer all my pics from my phone. :) It is indeed a TRIP report. Still have a tiny bit of a black eye. Got completely ripped a new one by my doctor for not going to the hospital. Oops!!!

Welcome home!

50 days until our FIRST trip to Yacht Club! We are planning LOTS of time at the pool and the resort to enjoy all the loveliness. Cannot wait! :cheer2:
You will love it:thumbsup2

Maybe I missed this, but does anyone know if you can use your Magic Bands to gain access to SAB now or do we still have to bring our KTTW cards for everyone in our group? Since the Magic Bands are waterproof it would be nice to just wear those than to worry about all the KTTW cards and leaving them at our pool chair while swimming. :thumbsup2

We used our Magic Bands today at SAB! They worked perfect!!

Hello BC/YC fans! Just returned from 2.5 weeks in California and can't believe how fast this new thread has grown! Thanks again to Dee!

Just a few OT notes regarding DL and runDisney - had a great time at the inaugural Disneyland 10K. I can see how the runDisney addiction develops! (But wow - those crowds do slow the pace. My training run times were much faster, but least I have a proof of time for the Princess Half in February.) Cars Land was great fun - loved Radiator Springs Racers. Still love the Grand Californian Hotel and now I think we're hooked on cabana rentals at the pool - that was WONDERFUL! Napa Rose is still an outstanding restaurant and Trader Sams is a ton of fun - hope the rumors that they will open one at Poly are true! A CM asked our family to open the park at California Adventure, so now we've had the opportunity to open both Disneyland and California Adventure - yay! Still have a strong preference for WDW, but great to get in a couple Disney days during our time at the beach. :)

P.S. Happy to get all of our ADRs for February! We were on west coast time on our 180 day mark, so I didn't call in as early as usual, but it still worked out: Garden Grill, Liberty Tree, Le Cellier, Chefs de France, Flying Fish and Via Napoli. So excited!

I'll try to catch up!

Thank you for sharing! We are going Friday the 13th for three nights, trying to read all I can before heading out but haven't planned like I do for WDW.

Yay! Thank you. I am planning a hot date with Sam Adams in the laundry room while we are there and am pleased to hear things may be working a bit better...

we have our costumes for MNSSHP finalized! DS9 and DD7 tossed around a couple of different ideas for a while, and DH and I took FOREVER!! In fact, a few days ago, DH informed me that he didn't want to dress up after all :scared1: and I was really disappointed. But yesterday he surprised me with a fantastic choice, and now I can't wait for all of us to get dressed up!

So... the final costumes are...

DS9 as Ninja Warrior!

DD7 as Mulan!

Me as Khaleesi from Game of Thrones!

And DH as Ser Jorah, Khaleesi's guardian and protector from GOT!

Cool costume ideas!!!

:thumbsup2

natebenma, here's the photo you requested from my PTR. Post away!

Thank you so much. It is going into the FAQ/Other Useful Info post about stealth slushies

Ticker check- Two weeks from today we will be on the plane traveling to Disney!

:woohoo:

Thanks for the review of your trip. May I link your post to page 2?

That stinks that someone would steal your sunscreen! :furious:

Sue M- same question for you- ok to link your review post?

:)

Thank you Tara and to all who saw this problem and complained. THIS is how problems get fixed. Shouldn't come to this but when it does it's nice to know that the problem gets attention.

Thanks! For my 10K training runs, I was running about a 9 minute mile and finishing in an average of 56 minutes.

WOW. That's flying to me!!! Glad you had such a great trip.

Thanks for posting your review! We always love Beaches and Cream, good to hear you had a nice meal there. :cool1:
I totally understand about magicband issues. I'm glad they finally got yours sorted out.
I'm still working with Disney IT to get our magicbands linked properly. Crazy Disney IT. :headache:

That's great news for me. We arrive at the end of the month and I'm counting on doing laundry at the BCV.

I hope your daughter is all better from the surgery and treatments. It sure sounds like this trip is going to be a special one for you. :flower3:

Arrived at Beach Club yesterday! It is amazing! Teena was working, and I was almost star struck! I didn't have time to chat, I was too busy trying to keep my four year old daughter from doing handstands in the lobby! I hope to see her again during my ten day stay! Great room, full balcony, very close to lobby! Magic bands are great. Will do a trip report later into our stay, if I'm not exhausted!!
