I am on the edge of my seat waiting to see if Disney is going to extend the current Military discounts. Does anyone remember when they announced this last year?

popcorn:: I'd love to know as well!!! I know that when I booked my trip last year in July, I already knew it was being extended but I'm not sure when the news actually came out.

I believe they announced it in June2011 cause I had to call up at end of June/begining of July to get a refund last year. I am also waiting to see if they will extend the offer!

Yep, it was in June of last year. I'm also anxiously waiting to see if they are going to extend it - if so, I'll be planning a Christmas trip, too!

Thanks everyone, June seems so far away! We have taken so many wonderful vacations because of the Military Discounts and I really hope they continue.

How long have the mil discounts been in place??? Oddly enough, as many times as we've been to Disney, this is the first year that we are actually taking advantage of it...it's not really advertised alot.

I can not believe how generous the discount has been in the past.
I have been lucky enough to use it twice. It would be incredible if they keep offering it. I'll keep my fingerscrossed!

I called this morning to book for the end of September, when the current discount expires, and the agent assured me that it would be extended. I do remember last year that they said 2012 would be the final year, but the reservation agents seem confident that it would be extended. We're waiting to find out for sure, because we can get Stars and Stripes passes when we go if it's extended, but we can't use them if it doesn't go beyond Sept. 30. Would be a huge money saver if we can get the park passes in addition to the 40% off! This is our third trip with the discount, and we are so incredibly grateful to Disney for doing this for our military families!

I'm not sure if this is possible? Is it better to book free dining in Sept and get the Stars and Stripe passes or use the 40% off room discount with the park passes? Anyone investigated. We need two rooms or a suite we have 5 plus a baby so we need some space. thanks

You cannot have free dining and a room discount together, as discounts can't be stacked. However, the military package does allow you to add a dining plan without purchasing tickets as part of the package, so you can buy the discounted tickets separately. The tickets never work out for us because of the restrictions, but the room discount is great!

The 40% room discount is awesome. We are using it for the first time this year. I don't know how I missed this on past trips. Has the Military Discount been around for a few years now?

I hope Disney realizes that many of us would not be able to bring our families without this discount. Or at least it would be a once in a lifetime trip for many.

I am praying they will extend and let us all know in advance. We have a split stay with room reservations starting October 1, 2012. Really hope for extension of a great gift Disney gives to the military personnel. Otherwise we will be making it a one resort stay. :worship:

Mousemommy what are the ticket restrictions that keep them from working for you if you don't mind me asking? My DH will be getting the four of the 4 day park hoppers for $138.00 each. That will give the two of us 8 days of tickets. Is there something in the rules we can't do that? We are new to this and have only purchased under the Stars and Stripes plan or once an annual pass. Thank you for your help. :goodvibes

If there are only two of you, that works a lot better. There are four of us, so we would need at least 8 tickets to just get 8 days of tickets, but you can only get 6 at a time, and only activate 6 in a week. So, we can't buy enough to last for an 11 day trip (which we are doing this summer), and even if we could buy enough, it ends up costing the same (or more) than regular tickets. We are just getting APs this year because we are going in July and then in April 2013, again for 10-11 days, so the AP works for us. HTH. Sorry for rambling. :goodvibes

I also made a reservation for the end of Sept. because we do F&W. The CM said it is likely to be extended. We much prefer Oct. as it is a bit cooler. Hoping we get news soon so I can change the reservation. We are very grateful that Disney does this for the military.

Thank you Mousemommy, you have eased my mind. :) Congratulations on your TWO (2) upcoming trips. party::jumping1::rockband: that is so wonderful. By the way...you didn't ramble. :goodvibes

I know they release the dates for 2012 after June 9, 2011. I made a payment last week for my upcoming trip in September and the CM said they would most likely do it again this year.:goodvibes

I sure hope they extend it! Booked for Sept 23-30th for my solo trip just in case though. I don't think I could talk my DH into a 3rd Disney trip (2 Solo trips) within 365 days if I couldn't get that discount!

Sad though- when we went in 2009 we had no CLUE they did discounts, so we stayed at AKL for a week and paid full price, and full price on tickets. My oh my have I learned a lot since then!!! :lmao:

I sure hope they extend this...watching diligently for my Mom so she can take my brother and his family in the fall. Fingers Crossed.

June has come and gone...still waiting. With just 2 of us going in February 2013, it would save us more money than free dining at a deluxe resort! :surfweb:

I think sadly they will wait until the last minute or not extend this offer. Sad that they can do FD etc but can't offer anything to the military my views only. Last year they did it mid June maybe they are waiting to see. Oh well it was a good deal. One can always hope :)
