2012 Free Dining Watch and Wait HERE

Apparently free dining past September 28 is now only available via a PIN code, so if you didn't receive one or have one attached to your name in the reservation system, you are not eligible. This is not currently an offer open to the general public.

Even when there is a general public offer out, the reservation agents will not just "give" it to anyone booking a package; the guest has to specifically ask for it.

And it is indeed true that only the check-in date matters. If you check in during the offer period, it does not matter when you check out, you get free dining for the full stay up to 14 nights. The cast member who said that was not true and you also had to check out during the offer period was not correct.

Like many of you here, I'm hoping for free dining for my trip 10/27-11/3. The question I have is, in order to get free dining (assuming I get a PIN or it becomes available to the general public), do I have to purchase my tickets in a package deal with the hotel room? Or, can I purchase my tickets from Undercover tourist and book my DIS hotel separately and still get free dining when/if it becomes available?
:confused3
Also, do you need your hotel to be booked before you make dining reservations if your within the 180 day period?

Thanks!:flower3:

Free dining package requirements are paying rack rate for a hotel stay of a minimum of 3 nights AND the purchase of a minimum 2 day base ticket for every person on the reservation ages 3 and up.

As for dining, anyone can book within 180 days, whether you are staying in a hotel or not, it does not make a difference.

You will get to make at 180, but without your reservation attached you won't get the plus 10 days

Yes, this is correct, but for the dates in question, the 180 mark was a month and a half ago, so they should be able to make all of their ADRs now.:goodvibes

I've called twice, no PIN :sad1: Any rumors of when a general public offer might come out for late october/early november dates?

I just got my offer snail mail yesterday with pin. I am checking in on 11/1, which was the last day of one block of free dates, and I was able to get free dining for the entire stay. (Our trip was already booked.)

Nice little bonus!

Just called and no pin for me. We are going Nov.24th-Dec 1st, so crossing my fingers.

Question: Had you booked the dining plan when you made your reservations? I'm wondering if I wouldn't get a FD PIN because I already have the dining plan added to my reservation. I'd much rather not have to pay for the dining ;)

I just wanted to chime in to say that in 2010, I had a trip booked, with Dining Plan, staying over the 4th of July, and I got a PIN for Free Quick Service Dining, which I promptly upgraded to Table Service for $10/person. So it can happen! :) In fact, hoping for some more magic for our upcoming trip! (And yours as well!) :wizard:

Having a trip booked with or without the dining plan doesn't seem to affect the chances of getting a PIN. I have booked both ways and gotten one and both ways and not gotten one. Getting a PIN is a mystery that only Disney marketing CMs could know the criteria for, and even they may not know.

Congrats on getting the PIN! Is your wife on the reservation? You should be able to call Disney to see if you would be able to use it, but your travel agent will have to be the one to call and try to apply it. Write down who you spoke with if they say you can use it, but even if your resort /dates are available today, they might not be on Monday. At least you will be covered if your TA calls and they tell her you cannot use the PIN because of the name. Good luck!:goodvibes

WOOOOOWHOOOOO, FINALLY got me free dining. Disney helped me through it and said it is attached. My TA just has to call and finalize it.

October 21st can't come any sooner

tossed the free dining plan snail mail piece as we have another big trip coming up....WELL, DD can cheer in the WDW Xmas parade taping...Nov. 29-Dec. 2...seems that one of the dates on the snail mail was arrival by Nov. 29. I
If I call, they will have this PIN associated w/ my name, right?
Also, we will likely stay at Coronado Springs...is that Quick service or regular plan? Can I upgrade if it is QS--I heard $10/person--per day?
Thanks so much!
(waiting impatiently for DH to visit about this...trying to have all our ducks in a row!!)

As long as the PIN is still valid and not expired it should be on your account and visible to the CM. Mods are getting the regular DDP. :goodvibes
