2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 3- Don't Post Here!!! New Thread, November 2012

Hi all, I have a question about the music I hear on the buses for the BC&YC. I love it! It is a pretty piano type song with beach sounds and seagulls over it. Does anyone else love it?? I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find it? I have searched youtube and no luck. TIA

YES! I'd love to know this information! I tried to "Shazzam" it last year, but it didn't work. I do know from this thread and other Internet searches that the lobby tracks are mostly from a cd called "Sounds of Wood and Steel," but I'd LOVE that bus music.

I don't know the answer to your question.

Since we all know that the best source of accurate information about Disney (particularly rumors) are Disney bus drivers, I suggest that someone ask them if they know what the music is and see what we get for answers!

Bad Ducky! He doesn't have a wrist band!

There's a couple of new pictures from yesterday up on the Lily Goes Live thread.

We got back from our vacation late Wednesday night. I can't remember the last time I was THAT unhappy to see a vacation end.

We LOVED the Beach Club. I asked for a room close to Epcot, and that's what we got-- 3rd floor, just above the "secret entrance." That was an amazing help every single time we walked to Epcot.

Dinner at Cape Mays was wonderful. A "must do" for all future trips.

Stormalong Bay defies description. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

I tried to find Teena, but simply did not come across her in our travels.

But I have to tell you about the phenomenal service we received.
First, the backstory:
While walking in Epcot on Saturday night, my husband tripped when someone cut in front of him. He hurt his pinky, but was able to bend it, so we figured it was just a bruise.

We spent a good part of Monday afternoon in Stormalong Bay. That night, my husband was up most of the night in pain. By the time he awoke the next day, his pinky was swollen and warm and his ring finger was getting swollen too-- he took off his wedding ring while he still could.

By about noon, he was at first aid at Epcot. They suggested a walk in clinic, but the one they suggested didn't take our insurance. So Peter went down to the front desk, where they got him a cab and suggested a local emergency room. I stayed back at the BC with the kids.

He called a few hours later, saying that the finger was broken(under the nail, that's why he could still bend it), there was a bad infection (made worse by his diabetes) and they wanted to keep him overnight. Our flight home was the next night at 7:30 pm.

My husband is a semi-pro photographer. He had a few thousand dollars of camera equipment with him, none of it packed for the return flight.

I went to the BC front desk in tears. (I'm a crier-- it's how I react to stress.) I asked if there were any way they could give us more time in the room, in the hopes that I could figure out how to get all his stuff packed for the flight.

OK, here's where the service was wonderful: They gave us the whole day. Dave, the manager, said we could have the room until our 4:30 Magical Express Bus arrived.

My husband called a few hours later; they were going to release him. When he got back, the BC picked up the cab fare, and notified us when his prescription arrived.

I am so impressed with the service we received. Teena, if you have the chance, could you let me know who I can write to to commend the BC staff, particularly Dave??

As a PS: my husband went to his doctor, then an orthopedist yesterday after we arrived home. He's now in a local hospital, on IV antibiotics, to help fight the infection. But at least it's a local hospital.

That last day aside, we had a fabulous trip and can't wait to return to the Beach Club in a few years!!!

Sounds Magical Alice. Even with some real bad turns you were able to see your trip as a good one and special time. Hoping your husband recovers well and y'all can look back at his photos with joy!

Thanks.

I just saw post #314-- is that the contact info I want???

As soon as I go food shopping and hit the hospital to visit my husband, I'll get going on that letter.

Thanks.

Thanks for sharing your stories about your trip. I'm glad to hear most of it was magical, and I am sorry to hear all that your husband and family are going through as a result of his injury.

I was just getting ready to repost that. Here is the post from the FAQ. Since this is a resort specific compliment, I think you should write directly to the Yacht & Beach Club Manager, Mim Flynn at the address below and copy Guest relations by either letter or email.

Mim is a woman.

Who can I contact if I have concerns about something during my vacation, I have a great suggestion or better still, to compliment something wonderful about my trip or to recognize a CM who helped make my stay magical?

Comments, Compliments or Complaints:

You can go to City Hall or Guest Relations during your stay

or email wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

or send a letter to:
Walt Disney World Guest Communications
Executive Offices
Post Office Box 10040
Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830-0040

When you write or email, please include your name, address, phone number and email address.

If it is a comment specific to the Yacht & Beach Club, you can write to the General Manager of the resort (perhaps copy Guest Communications as well):

Mim Flynn, General Manager
Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts
1800 EPCOT Resort Boulevard
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

Great, thanks. Sorry, I could probably have found the info, but I'm pretty wiped out and was simply too lazy to look.

Hi everyone just came across this thread and WOW this is awesome. Great job to those who created this. So informative and so many great pictures:thumbsup2.

We will be arrive at BC Sept. 8 thru 11th for just a quick trip. Nice to see some fellow New Englanders and Pats fans on this thread. Hope HH will be open when we arrive, I must try one of these sunken treasure drinks I have been reading about... sounds delish!

Hello neighbor! Very excited about football season and our Patriots! I live in Foxboro, so this is always an exciting time of year.

To Aliceacc who said she's "a crier". Oh I get that! Me too. In fact, I was just typing up an email to send to friends and coworkers about a charity walk that I'm doing in honor of my niece and nephew and I was crying like a baby. :sad1: Everyone in my family knows that I can cry reading a card, watching tv, at Christmas. Big crier, so I totally understand! So glad to hear that your husband is doing well and that you were treated so well when you really needed it. :thumbsup2

No problem at all! Thanks for doing this. It really, really does make a difference for the cast member.

BTW- Teena is currently at the BC as a guest with her husband, daughter and precious grandaughter.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear your DH is having a bad time and I hope he is on the mend soon. I am glad to hear about how you were treated at the resort, and I would suggest sending a letter to Mim Flynn. I wrote a letter to her last August commending many of the CMs at the YC and received a very nice letter from her, a couple of weeks later, thanking me for my thoughts and for taking the time write a "real" letter.

To the PP who had the bad BC CL experience -- bummer!! I so hope you have a magical next trip that makes up for it. :)

I think WDW resort choice and loyalty is a little like your favorite restaurant. You go often because you love it (love the food, love the service, you feel at home). Once in a while you will hit an "off night" and the restaurant fails you. If that was one of the only times you've been, you are almost certainly not going back. But, if you believe it was just an off night, you're willing to forgive the occasional warts (to mix metaphors).

We had a horrible trip at BLT (you name it and it went wrong...broken and blaring smoke alarm they could not seem to fix, broken safe, unfriendly CMs, second room not ready with unspeakably dirty things on the floor, unhappy words at the desk with the supervisor at 2am, birds in the hallways -- I mean big vultures flying inside the hallways multiple times, just to name a few issues). We laugh about it now, cause it was crazy!! I know it must have been a statistical blip, because so many folks love it, but we won't be back to BLT.

But I confess, when something goes off track at YC/BC (and it sometimes does), I'm still coming back.:thumbsup2

Alice - THAT's why I'm excited to stay at the BC next month...because of stories like yours. :thumbsup2 Glad your husband is on the mend and glad you had the stellar Disney service when you needed it most!

Oh Alice I am so sorry! But so glad BC helped you. I had a fantastic experience with their hotel manager there in June. He went above and beyond for us on something and I too ended up writing a letter to corporate Disney and CC'ed him on it and sent the letter via Mim as well. So sorry for DH but so happy your trip ended so positive!!!!

Dee - add me to the BE OUR GUEST List!!! I ended up booking with MAgical Vacations for their June 18 - 25th special and their resort choice was BC. There is nothing nothing at YC. Must be full of conventioneers in June - well the water pool view was there but honestly I don't want to pay that rate and have a quiet pool view. :scared: :scared:So back to the BC I go in June 2013. Feels good to have a trip booked and nice deposit down on it!! Melissa

OK, it's going to be a few years before we can afford to return-- we're both teachers and Disney is an expensive trip for us.

But tell me about CL. What does it cost, is it worth it to you, all the details. As long as we're saving, maybe I'll shoot for that next time.

We stayed for the first time 2 weeks ago at BC and it was terrible! We paid extra for Club Level, not sure why because the desk girls were really bad. I kept overhearing them tell other guests things they could help with, i would ask and they would say they couldn't or they told me to go somewhere else. I had to had extra days to my kids tickets, the girl refused and told me to go to a park. I added days at DHS, first thing out of the CM mouth was, "why didn't you upgarde at your resort?" we told her they kept telling us they could not do it, even after hearing them tell people they could. The beds were horribly uncomfortable, serious lack of counter service meals. Yeah yeah Hurricane Hannah's but there is not much of a selection breakfast wise. I kept saying that we should have stayed at the Contemporary or Poly again. I had to fight the tears back almost everyday and even thinking about it now makes me upset. Obviously the BC does not care about keeping their customers happy, there are thousands people waiting to stay there. We were so disappointed because we were hoping to find a resort by Epcot because we are going back in Oct and again in Feb for the Half Marathon. We will just stay elsewhere. The resort customer service made it the worst Disney trip we have had. The best, funniest part was DH findings used condom on the bathroom floor while taking our 3 yr old son potty. That is not the resorts fault at all, that is some slobs fault. Anyways, I am not surprised to see that there are bad reviews. We were so surprisd that was a deluxe resort. I am sure it is because of the pool, which is nice but not nice enough to talk us into staying there again. Just my family's 2 cents.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience.

We were there July 17-28 and had the opposite experience.

Vilma checked us in and she went above and beyond. We had ordered a cake for dd's birthday through private dining and needed it delivered to Beaches and Cream. Since B&C doesnt accept ADRs PD couldn't deliver it. We would have had to pick it up ourselves and that would have ruined the surprise. Vilma had the cake brought up to CL and a CL CM delivered it to B&C for us. Neil did an amazing job making dd a special birthday button.

Mousekeeping did a great job and room was always clean.
I'm surprised at your comments about the beds - we always thought the beds at BC were super comfy!

It seems like we were at different resorts.
We've stayed at the GF, Poly, YC and BC and BC remains our favorite.

We once had a bad experience with mousekeeping at the GF but chalked it up to everyone can have a trip that's "off".

Hope you find a resort that you feel more comfortable with.

I was also there two weeks ago. I usually stay at YC but it was booked and this trip I stayed at BC instead. It was one of the most magical trips I've had and for absolutely the opposite reason you are saying. The customer service at the resort was incredible. Things were done by the cast members without us even asking. I was so impressed with the CMs on the CL level that I made a point of naming certain cast members to the concierge manager so that hopefully they would be recognized for their outstanding service. Everything was also very well maintained and extremely well kept especially with housekeeping.

It doesn't sound like we stayed in the same resort.:confused3

Okay - now I understand. You and I were at the same resort!

For the PP who asked about YC waterview rooms.

Our favorite waterview room at YC as a 1st floor room, overlooking the marina that was close to the small laundry room and side door exit. We were close to the boat dock and pool and we didn't have to traipse through the lobby in our swimsuits!

Anybody have any favorite (NON CL) SV or GV rooms at BC? Better views than others?

We stayed where the volleyball courts are and had a nice view of the lagoon as well. Higher up you arethe better for a view. We were on Club Level but obviously all the other rooms in the horseshoe are standard rooms just not on club floor. They would have been Garden Views. Very very pretty views...

Has anyone received an upgrade in room (view, etc.) upon check-in that you hadn't actually booked? (just pixiedust:)
