Quick question, but may not be quick answer ;) It seems like most of you pick the BC over the YC, why is that?

I ask because I left the decision up to DS(9) who has Asperger's and with that a lot of sensory issues. I always show him pictures of rooms and resorts before we go and when it came down to BC or YC, I just let him look and pick based on what he saw and he liked the YC rooms better.

Aliceacc, I am so sorry that your husband had to spend the night in an ER while on vacation! I hope his infection goes away quickly!

Mana'olana, I agree with YCFAN and DisneyMomx7....I was there at the same time as you and even with a minor blip at BC, our trip was completely magical. All of the CM's we dealt with were wonderful and accommodating.
I'm sorry your experience was the opposite of ours. Our room was directly across from the laundry/bathrooms at the quiet pool....I'm very glad I didn't encounter what you did.

OK superhero group, before I dragged my lazy behind out of bed this morning, I was trying to think of a drink name for us. In my half-awake stupor (or stupidity), I thought of "The Dirty Towlelini". I thought to myself....ha ha, like a dirty martini, but after then I thought, "it sounds like the Great Goofini over at MK...that won't do!" Dee's suggestion of "The Sitting Duck" sounds good to me!

We picked BC over YC because for the past several trips, we've made a special trip to BC to have a Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream. We fell in love with the resort then and decided we would stay there. For us, the lobby has a much less formal atmosphere than YC's. While both are beautiful resorts, we just felt more comfortable at BC. Plus, it's closer to Epcot!

I love to Google Earth everything. DH saw the pool at the hotel and it was all over as far as staying off site. When we figured out that that giant complex was actually 2 slightly differently themed hotels we picked the one closest to EPCOT because we would walk there, but we will probably take the boat to DHS.

So for us it was the hotel closest to EPCOT.

I think his choice probably makes sense.

The BC is a bit more noisy than the YC-- there seem to be more kids around, more noise, more stimuli. The YC seems a bit less intense. So I would probably agree that YC makes a little more sense for your son.

As to our choice, I have to admit that part of it was laziness-- walking 10 or 12 miles a day in the parks, I wanted the resort that was closer to Epcot.

Hello everyone! I'm a long time lurker here at Disboards and on the YC/BC threads. I joined not too long ago to ask a question but now I'd like to join in on the conversation!

First, I'd like to say that this thread is wonderful and has helped me out immensely! You all are a very friendly, very helpful, and a very funny bunch!

I will be taking my beautiful fiancée as my bride on August 19th and we will be flying to Disney right after. We're staying in a standard water/lagoon view room at the YC until the 25th. 10 days to go!

if you have time hit the rooftop pool at the airport! We stayed there 2x before flights out and really enjoyed

29 days today until our week at BC GV...I think I've changed our ADRs about as many times as I can feasibly do...Now what to do to occupy myself for this last month?? :confused3:rolleyes1

:I'm not sure if you can purchase the mugs there. Anyone know?

Dee

Last December the store @ the YC said I needed to pick up the refillable mugs (that came w/ our dxdp) @ the marketplace in the BC - which I did. The ale and compass has limited hours, so maybe we checked in when they weren't available (and I never went there) but it really isn't that far a hike from the lobby of the YC to the BC - it's not like you are trecking in from outer siberia.

I have not stayed @ the BC, only 1x @ the YC. I initially chose the YC because I 100% wanted a balcony (@ the BC you have a 50% chance of not getting a full balcony.) I found that I personally prefered the quieter atmosphere in the lobby @ the YC. The YC lobby exit is closer to the boat dock than the BC, I think. I'm returning this year to the YC - I just, well, like it better, what can I say? It 'feels' better, not that I'd turn down the BC - just that top choice right now is YC.
I don't mind the extra bit of walking to and from YC to Epcot as Disney is the only place/time I eat deserts and I figure I need all the walking I can get if I don't want to buy a new wardrobe a size or two larger when I get home.

Thanks! We will be easy to spot with our bride and groom ears and would love to meet you all! I'll be sure to share any good pictures we take with everyone.

You could decide what you'd like to order at each restaurant if you haven't done so already

:lmao: that's an idea...

I could look for coordinating outfits for our family pictures that we're having taken at the resort...

Hello, Y&BC lovers!! DD and I are heading to the YC later this month, and I've been trying to brush up on the details. I've been enjoying the thread, lots of great info.

I have a question that I sort of read an answer to, but want clarification. DD is in the middle of an intense exercise program (INSANITY, if anyone else is doing it) and wondered if the health club has open space for floor work? In an earlier edition of the thread someone posted a short description that mentioned floor space, but I wanted to check that this info is accurate.

Thanks for any info.:goodvibes

ps - just read about HH's being down, probably during our stay!:headache: We had anticipated the construction at the GF (split stay) but had not realized HH was due for a refurb. We just can't win.;)

Home from a wonderful trip. BC CL was soooo full. Hard to find seats for breakfast no matter what time you went. Everything was perfect though. Princess Lily absolutely loved SAB. Bob and Jeanne and I decided this will be a definite once a year trip!!!

Tomorrow is Typhoon Lagoon again ... this time girls only. Aunt Lauren, Nanny, Mom and the Princess.

Insanity is insane!! I've been doing it off and on...Works much better when you're consistent obviously...Want to get some weight off and tone up before SAB!
