2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 3- Don't Post Here!!! New Thread, November 2012

The furniture has finally been removed. The man from Mousekeeping wanted to put the stool in the corner and put our luggage on it, then move down the desk and squeeze in the chair as well! No thank you - I really want to be able to get out on the balcony.

Teena - I called Housekeeping first (I'm staying on the dark side :) ) and they told me $15/night so then I called front desk to confirm. Told them i was under impression they were free and they said "sorry you were given wrong info"?????

Will ask again downstairs in the morning - Thank you!! We have 3 adults / 2 kids so DH and I have one bed and MIL in other. Daybed not really big enough for both kids. They both slept on daybed at Poly w/out too much trouble but those seem bigger.

I have never heard of charging for a rollaway. Very strange. I know plenty of guests here on our thread who have gotten rollaways and were not charged.

Just ask to speak to one of the front desk managers tonight or tomorrow -- ask for Melanie - opps, she's off Friday and Saturday. So, tomorrow, ask to speak to Stefan ... he's in the lobby starting at 8 AM. Or, go over to the BC and ask to speak to Patrick C. after 2 PM.

I don't understand why they would charge some people and not others. I could understand them saying you can't have a rollaway because of fire regulations. You have five people and a room that has bedding for five people. Can't the kids sleep in the queen and your MIL in the daybed?

I'll check and see if this is a new policy when I get in on Sunday too.

They are complimentary. Don't call front desk (because you aren't talking to the front desk at the BC), call housekeeping (where you will actually talk to a CM at the BC). If housekeeping says they will charge you, then walk down and ask to speak to a Front Desk Manager!

sorry - double post

Thank you so much you are so helpful to everyone here!! She probably could sleep in daybed but I didnt want to be the one to suggest it!! :)

On a positive note we just watched Illuminations from our balcony!! :) Love this place! We are in #3001 which is the FAR end of YC, BUT it is a corner room so 3 windows in addition to balcony and a ton of space! There is a stairwell door right outside our door so that has been an easy in/out vs. winding through the interior hallways. They did ask us if we wanted something closer but we were happy w/corner room so went for it and its nice - quiet down here too!!!

I agree with Teena - we weren't charged at the BC for our rollaway cot in May.

I'll be interested to find out about the beds as well. We booked a GV room for Dec and I asked for a room with a daubed so my boys wouldn't have to sleep together. It's not the end of the world if they do but it would make life a little easier if they both go their own bed!:)

Not sure if anyone here knows, but I was wondering how much a taxi would cost to go from BC to the Richard Petty track and how long it would take.

Another question for my YC experts. We have never put in any special requests for a room at any resort. What if any requests should I put in for our stay at the YC? We have a GV room booked. I am thinking maybe to request a room with a daybed so that DD and DS can have separate beds. Will they even try to honor this request with only 4 of us in the room?

If the extra bed is most important, then request it. The day-bed rooms are priority for families of five but if one is available you might get lucky and get it. With a GV room, I'd be asking for gazebo view. That is something you get on the Dark Side that those at the BC can only wish for. Then ask for the roll-away bed for that extra bed you need. I'm also surprised that they are confused on whether there is a charge for the bed. I'm anxious to find out the outcome of this issue today as are many others on this thread.

I got one to the GF and paid $20 which included the tip and took about 15 minutes. That was two years ago.

We made it! The BC is gorgeous. The CMs on the CL are wonderful.

We arrived late - about 7pm. It took about an 1 1/2 by DME. Fortunately we managed to save a little time due to no one going to POFQ.

After walking around a little to get the feel for the resort, we grabbed a quick bite at Hurricane Hanna's, had desert in the Stone Harbor Club (rice crispy treats plus apricot and chocolate cake), and spent an hour or so in SAB before turning in.

Today is our first park day. I think we're heading over to DHS for EMH, back to the pool for a midday break (it's already wicked humid at 6:30am ), and then to Epcot for dinner!

Enjoy the BC, whoever is there. After a gorgeous sunny summer with hardly any rain, we went out of town to the beach and it's rainy and freezing cold! Sigh!

Sounds wonderful! How's the bed situation going? Maybe MIL could share the bed with her granddaughter? If she didn't offer to take the daybed which would have been the obv. solution  this is why I could never have traveled with my MIL :rotfl:

That is SOOOOOO exciting!!!! We can't wait to hear how your trip, and the surprise, go.

Another Faye survivor here!

There are several posters here on this forum who had Fayecations back in 2008.

Count me in as a Faye survivor, :rotfl: we were at Universal. Stayed at HRH and never did get to hear the underwater music in their pool :sad2:

Hi everyone, we are off to the Yacht Club for the first time next Monday so getting excited now.

We have stayed in several Disney Resorts and have always made room requests by contacting the hotel approx 72 hours before arrival, does anyone suggest a better way, I usually ask for a high floor, no connecting door and a corner room.

Thanks

:welcome: to this forum and the DIS!

I hope you have a wonderful stay at the Yacht Club!

:cool1:

Are you checking in Aug 20 (or Aug 27)- I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

I agree with the other posters- call the reservation line to add your request(s). At checkin, ask for the details about your room to see if your primary requests were honored.

My family has always stayed at BC, and we will most likely be staying there this May for the 6th time :cool1:. My discovery of the DIS, I now know about room requests, because every stay we ALWAYS have had a juliet balcony. We want to request connecting rooms AND full balconies for our family of 5 adults. I know that they don't always honor requests, that it depends on room availability, etc. Just wondering what would be better if they can honor only one? Connecting rooms or full balconies? What would YOU prefer?

Just adding, we will hav two garden view rooms.

:goodvibes

I'll put you on the list for May(be). Let us know when your plans firm up.

Personally, I would request "Full balconies, please. Connecting rooms if possible."

Just booked our first trip in 4 years yesterday at BC. My wife made a career change from accountant to teacher over the past few years, so this will be the first year we have to go during the Summer. I am a little nervous, but from what I am told, going the first couple weeks in June aren't that bad with regard to crowds.

As we haven't been to WDW in a few years, we wanted to do it right and stay at our favorite place, BC. Now, just the 9+ months of agony. Hoping after the holidays the time flies a little quicker.

Andy

:woohoo:

I'll add you to the list for next June.

I just survived a trip in early June. Don't worry about me using the term "survived"- it had nothing to do with the time of year. I was staying at All Star Movies with 145 teenagers.

Crowds were not terrible, weather was ok (some afternoon and evening rain)

Can you add me to the Be Our Guest list, please. We are staying at BCV from 3/7/2013 to 3/16/2013 and celebrating our twin boys 7th birthday as well as staying on points for the first time since we became DVC members. Last March was our first stay at the Beach Club and we truly loved it so we are coming back again for this trip!!

:welcome: back!

I'll add you to the list.

:cheer2:

I officially booked my Disney honeymoon at the Yacht Club today! I'm so excited.

I don't post on this thread much, but I read it a bunch. I actually went and toured the Yacht Club and ended up booking it because of this thread. So thanks so much!

:welcome: and Congratulations!

Next July or August?

I hope everyone who has made their way to the BC & YC is staying dry and enjoying themselves!!!

Doesn't hurt to ask!

Sorry about your rough start! Hopefully it's just the new tooth and he is back to his self very soon!!
My DS began throwing up this morning at 5:00 a.m.:worried:

We are 4.5 hours away from WDW, but have had a little bumpy start. Yesterday, my one son spiked a fever, so we started him on tylenol.

Hope your families are getting over your rocky starts.

TMEF23- how is your son doing?
DT83097- was glad to see a subsequent post that your son is feeling better.

The roll-away bed has arrived but no blankets or pillows! Also we now have an armchair and footstool in the middle of the room!

Been downstairs to hopefully get everything sorted.

Also hoping they will take away the room service trays that are now starting to smell outside of our room

Been over to Beach to collect the Noodles but they are not there :confused3

Sounds like you have had a few initial issues. Hope things settle down. Let me know if you are able to locate the noodles. They were supposed to be returned yesterday, but that could have happened at any time during the day. Hopefully they were returned after you checked.

Quick question for all you Beach Club gurus. For those who have shipped a box to BC, how far in advance did you ship it? A week before you arrive? Thanks!

I have never shipped a package, but a week sounds about right to me.

Hope to hear from others who have sent boxes or packages ahead.

I'm sure you have seen the post in the FAQ about using USPS (instead of FedX or UPS), so you won't be charged a handling fee.

There is also info about how to address the package.

As fas as the Noodle Family. If you get a bellman that has no idea what is going on, always ask for one of the following at the BC: Luigi, Keith, George. Tell them its the Noodles for the Pool that we keep sharing. They are good about them and especially Luigi ... he tries to keep an eye on them for us. Don't forget, a few dollar tip will help make sure they survive!!!
