2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

We have finally booked a trip....
I can't believe I'm typing that after all the conniptions we recently have been experiencing!!!

Even though I am fairly new here I feel like I've know some of you for a lot longer. With everything that has been going on here at home I have been uncharacteristically quiet. Hopefully once I get back on track I will be able to cheer all of you on with your trip anticipations, and longings, and droolings over all the goodies that encompass WDW.

Congratulations on booking a trip! Definitely something to look forward to!

This group is so welcoming it is hard not to feel like you've known everyone for a long time.

Hurry up and get back on track so your sense of humour can return to these boards and you can countdown to your trip in the company of other Dis crazed lunatics.

Good luck, Ninja Mom! I hope the surgery goes well, and I'm sure that planning your trip will be good therapy.

Bought a scent diffuser from Bath and Body Works tonight, trying to re-create somewhat the BC smell. The scent is called "Oceanside" and it's close(ish). Unfortunately, our electrician installed all our outlets upside down, on purpose (what the heck???) during our reno so I can't plug it in!! OMG how frustrating.

Working on my next chapter of my trip report...

Trying to catch up from the past few days...

Teena, welcome back. Wow, so sorry to hear you were so sick out in Vegas. Don't overdo it if you go into work tomorrow!

When you walk in the Beach Club Marketplace, there is a refrigerator section. It's L shaped. Most of it is along the left wall, but it continues a little bit to the wall which would be straight in front of you. Go to the little part which is straight in front of you. Go to the far right end of it. The cupcakes are there. Each cupcake is in its own see-through plastic container.

Most places at Disney have the cupcakes refrigerated. Some people say the cupcakes taste better if you wait awhile and let them warm up a bit.

Thanks for that info. I haven't noticed the cupcakes at the Marketplace, so this really helps.

@ busymommy2pink and msdroz- love the live updates! Thanks so much for taking time out of your vacation to share details of your trip with us!

We are booked for a 4 night stay at BCV in a studio, only reason we are staying there is because that's where our friends were staying. So, I hope I love this resort. We love the cabins at FW, and the THV's at SSR, those are our favorites so far. I've heard lots of good things, and I'm optimistic that it will be fun! :) This is after movers come, we're moving from FL to CA, so we'll need a Disney stay after that stress!!

:welcome:

We hope you love this new-to-you resort! Please let us know what you think when you return.

If you would like to be added to the Page 1 Be Our Guest list, please let us know your dates.

:cool1:

Just extended our stay at YC. We are now booked for Aug 25~Sep 3. :hyper:

:woohoo:

I'll revise your dates.

I called to apply my PIN code just now and not only did I save money but we were upgraded from a standard to a garden room! :hyper:

Hope you feel better soon Teena.

That is awesome!

I'm scheduled for some major surgery at the end of next week and I'm planning on using this trip as a motivator to get back in shape. I also immensely enjoy reading this board and if the hospital should provide WIFI I plan on keeping up with the happenings on this board as another distraction.

I'm so glad to hear that you ended up booking a trip at the Beach Club! I think your family will love it!

Let us know your dates if you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1.

I'm sorry to hear about the surgery. I wish you all the best for a quick recovery. Please let us know how you are doing when you are able to.

I haven't had much of a chance to get on here since our trip and can't believe how many pages I have to read. So, before I start digging in, I just wanted to report that our family had another great vacation at the BCV. We started at BLT, and then moved to BCV for a few days. For anyone who has ever wanted to do a split stay or considered one, I would say that it is so easy! We packed our bags the night before, called to have them taken from our room and went to Epcot for the morning. Then, we had lunch and went to the BCV for check-in. Our room was ready and we called to have them bring up our bags. Easy breezy!

The first week in May was great crowd-wise and temperature-wise. Our room was quite clean and we never had any problem with them refilling the shampoo and soap, as I've heard some mention. The pool was wonderful. It never felt crowded. We tried the slide and my DD loved it! We also spent a few hours in the zero entry portion which was really nice. We also celebrated my DD's birthday at Disney and everywhere we went, the CMs were so wonderful to her. It was quite magical.

We didn't see Teena, as we arrived later in the week, but all the CMs at the BC are top notch. They always seem to have a smile and are happy to help. Our dinner at Cape May was another winner and will continue to be a family tradition. We also had dinner at Captain's Grill the last night and it was quite good! The room was not busy at all and the server was very attentive. The chef there was fabulous in helping us with our DD's food allergy. I would definitely recommend this location.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. I'm off to start reading....

Ninjamom - the gazebo is on the YC side. I think the prettiest gv at BC are either overlooking the back entrance or overlooking the volleyball area.

Good luck on your upcoming surgery. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Sounds like a trip to BC will be the best medicine.

Lucky you - you'll get to see all the Christmas decorations!

Well then it looks like it's the elevator for us! Thanks for setting us straight and thanks to EVERYBODY for the good wishes. I hope to drunk dial, oops I mean post on these boards and give you an update if they have WIFI in the hospital. Perhaps if I get really ambitious and way over medicated I can do some :crazy2: "Hospital Food Porn" for Dee since her past trip reports indicate she is a fan of that genre.

BTW our dates for the Beach Club are December 9th to the 16th. I love all the Christmas decorations during that time and I especially love the way they decorate the castle. I could just sit for hours and look at that thing change colors!

Started today realizing I left my sunglasses in the washroom at wilderness lodge. So me haha. Thankful for the ever helpful Beach Club staff and their willingness to help! We've left a message with lost and found over there. Perhaps they'll find me before the end of the trip. Thank goodness I found some decent ones in the gift shop! :rotfl2:

Today we did world showcase at epcot, well most of it lol. We got there just before 11 so decided to grab soarin fastpasses first even though we planned on not even heading over there today. We got a 3:40-4:40 return time. Then YDD saw nemo so we ended up in that line lol. She LOVED it. Anyways, all this ate up about 1.5 hours of time, so technically we could have done WS as planned. We found it hotter today, but omg it could not be more beautiful. The girls started their Epcot passports today and the Duffy bear on a stick. The passports are a HUGE hit with them. I highly recommend them, even my 3 year old is really getting into it! We rode Malestrom for the first time today, that was exciting. We had dinner at Akershus tonight and this was YDDs first time meeting princesses. Oh my she was in complete awe!! She could hardly contain her little 3 year old self. She about bolted when she saw snow white! So cute! They did the princess procession and we all enjoyed the meal a lot!! They had the Mickey raviolis, I had the traditional meatball thing and DH had the salmon. The chocolate mousse cake I had waited a long two years for and it was worth it! After that we saw Jasmine and Aladdin quickly and had such an amazing character interaction with them. YDD was so tired at this point and proceeded to draw on her face with the orange sharpie :rotfl: Aladdin however found this amazing lol. Those photos will be fun. At this point they were so done so we walked on back and they were bathed and in bed asleep SO fast. Im enjoying the closeness to epcot for sure!! Our room is incredibly close as well.

I then decided I wanted a red velve cupcake from starring rolls and went on a solo adventure via boat. Just to find out starring rolls is closed lol. Sigh. To top it all off, turns out they had that cupcake in the Marketplace here at BC haha sigh. Oh well! HS wasn't completely in vain, I was able to get my nephew a great toddler star wars souvenier! Now, I shall go enjoy my cupcake and my bed! Goodnight all :)

Ps. I would like to applaud whomever came up with the idea to have margarita slushies! By far best thing ever haha

It didn't dawn on me, in your other post, that you would be there over Christmas. That is great. I would love to be at Disney just before Christmas. All of the pictures of the decorations look so beautiful.

Agreed! :thumbsup2

Again, thanks for the live reports!

Hope you find your sunglasses. I know you will continue to enjoy your trip. I love that you ventured out for some solo time. Some of my favorite moments at Disney have been when I am by myself.

Excellent!!!

Hospital Food Porn is on the bucketlist for my collection.

I still need Jailhouse Food Porn, too, if anyone happens to find themselves in a situation with this cuisine.

:lmao:

Heidi, loving the live trip reports! So glad you are having such a great time. I did a solo EMH rope drop at MK and they are ALWAYS worth it. :) I'm sad yet glad I did not see the cupcakes at the Marketplace.

I have a really crazy question. We'll be staying at BC CL from June 11-16. After we depart BC we have rented a condo at Gulf Shores for a week. Here's where the crazy question comes. I'd love to bring some frozen meat with us to use on our Gulf Shores stay. Is there anywhere I can store this meat at the BC CL????? We are lucky enough to always have meat in the freezer here at home due to raising cattle. If anyone can answer this question, I really appreciate it. If not, can I call someone to ask? Thanks in advance! :)

I hope you get your sunglasses back, I know how hard it is to find the perfect pair but it is good you found some you can use!

How was the cupcake from the Marketplace?

Just wondering how you sneak the camera in for Jailhouse Food Porn? The places you would have to hide it could prove to be interesting.

Teena--How did work go yesterday? Hope you are feeling OK.

Disney is great at helping return lost items, at least in our experience. My son left his camera at the Hoop De Doo Review (after alot of Sangria) and realized when we got back to the BC. concierge at BC helped call over there but the lost and found over there is only open at strange times. To make a long story short after a couple of days of calling and being told it was sent to MK lost and found and back again, it was actually found and returned to him! I was totally surprised! Who would have thought that in such a large place, a small camera would be found and returned! Only in Disney!:thumbsup2

Good luck on locating your sunglasses. I just got a pair of expensive prescription sunglasses so I would be sad to lose those!

Hi all. As I am getting closer to our much anticipated stay at BC, I am finally going ito full planning mode. So, I have a couple of questions about the arcade at BC. My DS will definately want to spend time there and I was wondering if it operates on tokens or if there is some kind of arcade card that can be purchased. Also, since we will be celebrating DS's birthday while we are there, I was planning on giving him a Disney gift card for one of his gifts. Does anyone know if he can use the Disney gift card at the arcade (to purchase tokens or an arcade card or whatever is used there)? I will be eagerly awaiting any replies. Thanks.:)

I will be checking into the Beach Club in 2 days. Can anyone tell me what the procedure is to check in to Club level? I am not sure what ( if anything) I am supposed to do. Thank you!

We have finally booked a trip....

DH finally decided on the Beach Club for the week of December 9th. It's a garden view and I'm hoping that we will get something pretty like that gazebo that people who post here are always going on about. However I too would be just as happy sleeping in the elevator, waving good morning to all those guests who pushed the button and are looking for a ride back to their rooms with their coffee and croissants in the morning. Hopefully they will take our orders and make a delivery for us!

This trip is a bit of a weenie for me. Walt Disney designed the parks so at the end of a path going off to a certain area of the park there would be a sight that would act as a draw and keep people moving. He called this a "Weenie" and Cinderella's Castle is perhaps the best example.

I'm scheduled for some major surgery at the end of next week and I'm planning on using this trip as a motivator to get back in shape. I also immensely enjoy reading this board and if the hospital should provide WIFI I plan on keeping up with the happenings on this board as another distraction.

Hopefully once I get back on track I will be able to cheer all of you on with your trip anticipations, and longings, and droolings over all the goodies that encompass WDW. Then one day, when I get this trip under my belt I'll be able to answer some burning questions about the BC/YC, like how lazy is the lazy river and will the police come and take me away if I don't use the correct laundry detergent in the machines?

Thank you again for all of the lovely information and camaraderie. Your questions and comments and trip reports have been a welcome distraction and I look forward to being a better contributor in the future.

Hugs,
NM

yay!!! So happy you decided to go ahead and book at BC.

hope you have a speedy recovery!!

I love when they are that exhausted!!! True sign that they had a great day.

Yum!!!

I am finally caught up on this thread after being away for a few weeks! I just want to say how much I love reading the live reports of everyone who is there now or has just returned...thanks for posting! I know from experience that finding a few minutes to log in and letting us know how things are going can sometimes be difficult while on vacation, so thank you!!!! I'm eating up every word....

Robyn - Congrats on your weight loss, way to go! I am also on my own "Disney weight loss plan", gearing up for our trip to the BC in August, so I am supporting you 100%. We went in March, and I was NOT happy with how I looked in those photos, yikes.....

I have a room view question. We are booked for a water view for our upcoming trip. Has anyone stayed in a ground floor room with a water view? I love a full balcony, but if I can't get one, is a patio room just as good? Just curious what you can see of the lagoon from those rooms, and if you liked/disliked your patio in comparison to your balcony.

Thanks!
Linda:)
