2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Hi all. As I am getting closer to our much anticipated stay at BC, I am finally going ito full planning mode. So, I have a couple of questions about the arcade at BC. My DS will definately want to spend time there and I was wondering if it operates on tokens or if there is some kind of arcade card that can be purchased. Also, since we will be celebrating DS's birthday while we are there, I was planning on giving him a Disney gift card for one of his gifts. Does anyone know if he can use the Disney gift card at the arcade (to purchase tokens or an arcade card or whatever is used there)? I will be eagerly awaiting any replies. Thanks.:)

There is an arcade card machine where you purchase a card to use in the machines. I don't know if you can use a giftcard to purchase it though.

Teena: do you get to go to the Art of Animation opening on Monday (either before or after work?)

Just realized I only have 5 days left!!!

Is everyone else leaving this week as excited as me???

OK, thanks for the info. If he can't use the gift card to purchase it, maybe I will buy him an arcade card when we check in and give that to him as part of his birthday along with a Disney gift card. That would work.:thumbsup2

I am finally caught up on this thread after being away for a few weeks! I just want to say how much I love reading the live reports of everyone who is there now or has just returned...thanks for posting! I know from experience that finding a few minutes to log in and letting us know how things are going can sometimes be difficult while on vacation, so thank you!!!! I'm eating up every word....

Robyn - Congrats on your weight loss, way to go! I am also on my own "Disney weight loss plan", gearing up for our trip to the BC in August, so I am supporting you 100%. We went in March, and I was NOT happy with how I looked in those photos, yikes.....

I have a room view question. We are booked for a water view for our upcoming trip. Has anyone stayed in a ground floor room with a water view? I love a full balcony, but if I can't get one, is a patio room just as good? Just curious what you can see of the lagoon from those rooms, and if you liked/disliked your patio in comparison to your balcony.

Thanks!
Linda:)

Thank you - I have my own motivator.
Every year at our BC/YC Mini Dis Meet we take a picture and post it on the first page of this thread. in 2010 I was at a good weight, a little heavier in the 2011 picture and I would have been a little heavier in this year's picture if I didn't do something fast!

The nutri system plan is really working for me. I'm down 8 lbs. and I'm not hungry. It's pretty easy to follow. Good luck to you too! If you look in the picture in 2010 I had a green sleveless top on and a similar navy one in 2011. I'm the short blonde.

We had a first floor room but it was a deluxe cl room not a waterview. We had a view of the quiet pool. I liked the patio as much as I've like having a full balcony.

I know that you can use cash, credit cards and your KTTW card. I'll bet you can use a gift card but I'm not sure. We also got some arcade points in our welcome package.

I will be checking into the Beach Club in 2 days. Can anyone tell me what the procedure is to check in to Club level? I am not sure what ( if anything) I am supposed to do. Thank you!

You don't have to worry about anything. We were met at the bus and escorted to check-in. Have fun! I'm jealous!

I posted another installment in my trip report if anyone is interested. Page 4! :goodvibes

Hi all!
Does Beach Club do any in room treats? My parents are taking us (14 total, 8 adults, 6 kids) and we would like to have something sent to their room as a thank you. I can't find much on the website.
Thanks!

Hi - This thread is great. So much information. I've been lurking for a while and we made the switch to BC. Our dates are 8/15 - 8/22. My family consists of me, DH, twin DS's age 10. We are also traveling with two other families. Family 2 has DH, DW, DD7, DS5. Family 3 has DH, DW, DD6,

While the other two families have the dining plan, we opted not to get it. With the boys being considered adults it just was not worth the $1450 extra. I toyed with getting it and just paying OOP for the kids meals when the wanted to order off the kids menu (which would be most of the time). But, if we did that we would be sitting down even more for meals which we do not want. DH wants to golf a lot and not be tied down to having to make it for sit down meals. Kids suggested only Chef Mickey's on our arrival night (which is what we normally do). Besides that they did not care.

With our schedule we mostly will be going early to parks, back to BC to relax and enjoy the pool. We only have 3 nighttime events planned. (HDDR 7:15 show paid OOP for, MK EMH, F!). So, my family at least will be at the hotel, but being so close to EP we want to walk over and eat at some countries, even if it's just CS meals.

With that said, do you think an upgrade to CL would be worth it for us? It would be about $750 more to upgrade. (We received an $870 credit when the 30% discount was released). I'm aware if we did upgrade we would not be near the other two parties, which is fine. I just don't know if we'd get $750 worth. I'm just afraid that if DH is golfing he won't be around to use it so much and my kids are pretty picky so besides breakfast I'm not thinking they'll even eat what is offered. And I am not a big eater at all.

Thoughts? TIA.

Hello I'm french. Sorry for my english.

I'm going to Yacht Club in August 2013. It's my first time and i'm very exciting. I only know Disneyland Paris and i like it !

I have a question. When i'll arrive, i think to have dinner at beach club market place. How long does it take to go from Yacht club ?

And how long does it take to go in Epcot by walking ?

Thank you very much for your help

I don't know if the Beach Club does anything directly, but our Travel Agent use to send us gifts from http://www.disneyflorist.com/?source=header when we arrived. They have some cute things on their site.

Welcome ...

To Marketplace, no more than 10 minutes and that would be if you are in a room furthest away at the Yacht Club.

To Epcot, no more than 15 minutes to walk again if at furthest point.

We're back home. It was a wonderful vacation, and even intermitten rain didn't dampen (ha!) our spirits. I'm going to try and do a mini trip report for y'all, but in the meantime, some highlights were:

- We loved the Yacht Club. Staff was warm and helpful. Mousekeeping was great. We were a loooong way from the lobby, but quickly found an exit door that was convenient. And you can't beat the location.

- Kids loved the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. It was a great way for us to spend some afternoon time. We'll really miss Kim possible, but had luckily read that it was to close during our trip and we crammed every country in at the front of the vacation.

-Date night! Kids stayed at the Sandcastle Club (and loved it) while we visited Mexico (tequila bar) and Italy (new wine bar). Both were fantastic!

- We bought a couple of the Guide to the Magic books for the kids and they loved them. they are HEAVY, but we hauled them with us to dinner. good thing, too - I think that was all that kept 7 year old twins going through a nearly 3 hour (!) dinner at the California Grill.

- Jedi Training was a hit with the kids, but having caught it on a random let's-do-the-rope-drop again at HS days, it was super stressful for me. Luckily we made it to the first show of the day, but we had some ankles bruised by strollers in the process.

- Food was a hit with us again. We do the Deluxe Dining and it works really well for our family. We like the downtime at the restaurant and usually our meals aren't unbearably long. We skip desserts a lot for lunch (kids too, which surprised us from time to time but seriously freaked out the waiters.)We ate at:

breakfast - Crystal Palace at MK before opening (twice, this is my favorite. We see the characters, have a nice breakfast, and we are in front of the line at the internal ropes for park opening). Other than that, we picked up breakfast at Ale & Compass or Boardwalk Bakery and used snack credits.

lunch - Beaches & Cream, San Angel Inn, CRT, Mama Melrose's, Biergarten, Sci-Fi Dine In, Liberty Tree Tavern, Le Cellier

dinner - Yachtsman, Rose & Crown (for fireworks view during Illuminations), Narcoosee's, HBD, Flying Fish, CA Grill.

- Crowds were pretty light until our last day and a half (5/18 and 5/19) and then I feel like they picked up.

Okay - that's it for now. I'll be lurking and posting trying to keep the magic going!

Awesome mini trip report. We're going to be eating at some of the same places. You're definitely making me look forward to our trip next month! I agree about the down time. Three hours at Cal Grill, Yikes! We have an ADR there for 7:45 on our second day. Of course, Wishes will be at 10 so 3 hours won't feel as much like 3 hours. Anyway, I look forward to hearing more from you.

When you walk in the Beach Club Marketplace, there is a refrigerator section. It's L shaped. Most of it is along the left wall, but it continues a little bit to the wall which would be straight in front of you. Go to the little part which is straight in front of you. Go to the far right end of it. The cupcakes are there. Each cupcake is in its own see-through plastic container.

Most places at Disney have the cupcakes refrigerated. Some people say the cupcakes taste better if you wait awhile and let them warm up a bit.

Do you happen to know which cupcakes they normally have? Are they good? Thanks!

Edit: I followed the thread back and saw the pictures of the three types. Any likes or dislikes between them? Thanks!

While I have never tried Club level it sounds like just the thing for your family. People here rave about the Club Level offerings at both the Yacht Club and Beach Club. It sounds like your trip will be more about not having to be chained to dining reservations and Club level will certainly assist you with keeping a hungry husband and your two mini men filled up. It seems like boys at Disney develop bottomless pits for bellies, especially when running around in the parks and swimming in pool all day. I think you can pop into Club Level from morning till bed time and find something to feed your gang.

For our trip In December we are considering this as it makes sense for the 5 of us, 4 of which are male and like to eat. My 3 teen age boys keep me hopping back and forth to Sam's club and Walmart as it is. It would be nice for Club Level to fill some of this void.

Good luck with your decision!

Distherapy: Thanks for the trip report!!! I am so glad you enjoyed YC.

Looking forward to seeing what Sorcerer's is about.........is it similar to Kim Possible?

the new Tequila bar is on my list, can you tell me if they have drinks to go?

It was great! We checked in early (as we did a couple of places) and they had no trouble seating us. It was our second time there and we both loved it. the kids did, too, but kid's meals don't differ as much from place to place. We loved strolling around the Boardwalk after dinner too.

Sorcerer's is similar, in that you find little hidden places around the park, but it's different as you get packs of "spell cards". As you wave your "key card" to activate the hidden place/effect, the screen will appear and you'll see a little show about what villain you're trying to stop. At some places, it will tell you to cast a spell. You wave one of your cards at the camera and the screen will show the effect of your card. Some of them are pretty neat. There were a few people around trying to trade cards, but I don't know enough about what's considered valuable and didn't want something cool taken away, so I declined. A CM told us that they think the cards, which are given away now, won't be free forever, so they recommended getting a park for every member of your party each day you're in MK. We used the stop by Liberty Square (it's marked on the map by Tiana's character spot) and there wasn't a line there. Good luck!

And the tequila bar does have drinks to go. We took drinks out last trip. They are tasty!

Oh, and we also did a couple of unique things this time that were fun:

- DD did the Pick a Pearl in Epcot. She got a 7mm silver-blue one.

- DD also did the Pirates League (DS didn't want to - he doesn't like face paint). She did the Mermaid Package. It was cute and she thought she was fancy. We checked in about 10 or 15 minutes early and they looked at us like we were crazy. We waited nearly 40 minutes, so if you do it, I wouldn't recommend getting there very early. It was HARD to get the eye liner part off the next day, and we got some funny looks.

- DH and DS did the Carbon Freeze Me thing at SWW. They had fun and it was quick. I think it's crazy pricey and we won't see how it looks for a month or so.
