2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

For our trip In December we are considering this as it makes sense for the 5 of us, 4 of which are male and like to eat. My 3 teen age boys keep me hopping back and forth to Sam's club and Walmart as it is. It would be nice for Club Level to fill some of this void.

Good luck with your decision!

3 teenage boys! Eeek! :scared1: I thought it was bad enough travelling with one 15-year old

-Date night! Kids stayed at the Sandcastle Club (and loved it) while we visited Mexico (tequila bar) and Italy (new wine bar). Both were fantastic!

- Food was a hit with us again. We do the Deluxe Dining and it works really well for our family. We like the downtime at the restaurant and usually our meals aren't unbearably long. We skip desserts a lot for lunch (kids too, which surprised us from time to time but seriously freaked out the waiters.)We ate at:

breakfast - Crystal Palace at MK before opening (twice, this is my favorite. We see the characters, have a nice breakfast, and we are in front of the line at the internal ropes for park opening). Other than that, we picked up breakfast at Ale & Compass or Boardwalk Bakery and used snack credits.

lunch - Beaches & Cream, San Angel Inn, CRT, Mama Melrose's, Biergarten, Sci-Fi Dine In, Liberty Tree Tavern, Le Cellier

dinner - Yachtsman, Rose & Crown (for fireworks view during Illuminations), Narcoosee's, HBD, Flying Fish, CA Grill.

Thanks for your mini report! Sounds like you made some great food choices.

We love La Cava del Tequila, Beaches and Cream, Sci-Fi, Liberty Tree, Yachtsman, Rose and Crown and CA Grill.

I've only mentioned those that we have tried and loved. I think I need to go back to try and get to some of theothers you mentioned. It sounds like you had an amazing trip when it comes to the restaurants!

I see your 3 teenaged boys, Ninja Mom and your one teenage boy, JanetMom and I raise you 145 teens.

I "win"?

Hi Everybody :wave2:!!

Brand new here, but glad I found you and excited to report that on Wednesday I was able to snag a 3 night reservation for a 2-bedroom at BCV for June 17th-20th!!!
The trip just came about a couple weeks ago - my parents live in Cocoa and my sister and her family are coming in from TX so I got a few days off work so we could meet at Disney :woohoo:!
The fam wanted to stay at AKV but no 2-bedrooms were coming up everytime I checked. When I saw it available for BCV I knew I had to reserve it quick because they are in hot demand!
I've read thru the 1st page of this thread and last 10 pages to get me started - thanks for all of the great info!!
I'm thinking I might want to spend my few days there enjoying the resort and Boardwalk area - love having DVC and knowing I'll be back in the future to enjoy park time!

Oh, you win, hands down Dee!

I think I keep blocking your trip from my memory because I can't fathom going with 145 teens and no GG Slushies.

It sounds like you had a great time. Could you tell me what time your ressie was for the Rose and Crown to catch illuminations? We are trying to do that this summer.

We had 7:45 reservations, but were hungry and were seated early = maybe 7:20. We requested a table on the patio, but ate inside, which was fine. We could have waited longer, but we were starving! It was a fairly slow meal, though, and after a couple of drinks we ended up rushing to their private viewing area (standing only, by the patio). Looking back, I would have asked to go out earlier to get a spot right by the wall. We could see fine, though, one row back and the kids had a good view, too.

Thanks, Feckless. BTW, I am enjoying your TR very much. Can't wait for your next installment!:)

Thanks! New installment coming tomorrow!

Hi all!
Does Beach Club do any in room treats? My parents are taking us (14 total, 8 adults, 6 kids) and we would like to have something sent to their room as a thank you. I can't find much on the website.
Thanks!

CL staff did an in room treat for my kids! I'm sure staff can help if you want to do something.

Hi - This thread is great. So much information. I've been lurking for a while and we made the switch to BC. Our dates are 8/15 - 8/22. My family consists of me, DH, twin DS's age 10. We are also traveling with two other families. Family 2 has DH, DW, DD7, DS5. Family 3 has DH, DW, DD6,

While the other two families have the dining plan, we opted not to get it. With the boys being considered adults it just was not worth the $1450 extra. I toyed with getting it and just paying OOP for the kids meals when the wanted to order off the kids menu (which would be most of the time). But, if we did that we would be sitting down even more for meals which we do not want. DH wants to golf a lot and not be tied down to having to make it for sit down meals. Kids suggested only Chef Mickey's on our arrival night (which is what we normally do). Besides that they did not care.

With our schedule we mostly will be going early to parks, back to BC to relax and enjoy the pool. We only have 3 nighttime events planned. (HDDR 7:15 show paid OOP for, MK EMH, F!). So, my family at least will be at the hotel, but being so close to EP we want to walk over and eat at some countries, even if it's just CS meals.

With that said, do you think an upgrade to CL would be worth it for us? It would be about $750 more to upgrade. (We received an $870 credit when the 30% discount was released). I'm aware if we did upgrade we would not be near the other two parties, which is fine. I just don't know if we'd get $750 worth. I'm just afraid that if DH is golfing he won't be around to use it so much and my kids are pretty picky so besides breakfast I'm not thinking they'll even eat what is offered. And I am not a big eater at all.

Thoughts? TIA.

I struggled with this and ended up staying with CL. I never regretted my decision! Except for our 2 breakfast character meals we ate every breakfast in the lounge. We had the wine and beer and appetizers most days. We were usually at ADRs at suppertime. We also traveled with another family who were on the DDP. They were slaves to the plan! Our DD wanted the kids meal for every meal but one, and we just ordered what we and the kids wanted. The other family ended up ordering adult meals for their 10 year old to get their "money's worth" and he didn't eat hardly any of them, and then they'd end up getting chicken nuggets for him and paying for them! Just do what works for you and your family.

There is something wrong with my writing(this is the second time I have been misunderstood so it's clearly me and not you)!

Anyway, I am having a great time planning! We are going on June 18. We have an ADR on June 18th for rose and crown. Our reservation is for 7:45 on that evening. I hope that we will be able to watch illuminations on the veranda. My goal is to check this out earlier in the day (around 2 or so) and find out what the chances are and how to do it. Then, unless they tell me otherwise, I plan to arrive at the Rose & Crown at around 7 and tell them that we will wait for a seat on the patio.

My wife and I went to the world last in 1998. We don't remember that much from the experience but we happened to watch that version of Illuminations on the patio (without a reservation or anything) and it was probably the high point of our visit. I am hoping to replicate this again with the kids.

Just realized this was a request of Distherapy. So I am forwarding it to Distherapy.

Ironically, we enjoyed the whole experience tonight and it was phenomenal! Resides at rise and crown for 720 and kept badgering the host staff for a patio seat, we ended up with one of the best tables on the house and my mom and dad were blown away!

Ps looked for teena tonight and couldn't find her :( even checked the front desk and the said she wasn't working tonight phooey. Does anyone know of she is at bc or yc?

Thanks for the info. Do you think my plan will work? We have 7:45 ADR but I'm planning on showing up at 7 and then offering to wait for a seat outside. It will be June and may be busier. I guess it's worth a try.

P.S.- Teena works at the Beach Club. I know she just returned from a visit with her daughter and she was under the weather. Hope she's feeling better!

I have read over the past week or so that the ME can take a long time. We will be arriving at 9:00 A.M. and are thinking we are taking the ME to BC. Is it going to take us more than an hour??? How much is a cab?? I don't want to spend all morning just getting to the hotel.

Welcome PoohNFriends. What better way to get together with family than WDW. Hoping you enjoy BCV's as much as we do. If enjoying the resort and strolling around is your idea of a good vacation I have a feeling you will fit right in at Y&BC.

I have a really crazy question. We'll be staying at BC CL from June 11-16. After we depart BC we have rented a condo at Gulf Shores for a week. Here's where the crazy question comes. I'd love to bring some frozen meat with us to use on our Gulf Shores stay. Is there anywhere I can store this meat at the BC CL????? We are lucky enough to always have meat in the freezer here at home due to raising cattle. If anyone can answer this question, I really appreciate it. If not, can I call someone to ask? Thanks in advance! :)

Would love to know if you called BC about the meat storage. May be the first frozen meat question I've seen on the DIS. :goodvibes

Teena should be there during the day today if she's feeling OK. I'm thinking her hours are like from 9:30-5:30 Sunday and Monday.

I would say around an hour and a half is average arrival time for ME. Especially in the morning and afternoon. We've used it 4 or 5 times and has never been over an hour and a half. But there are occasions that it hits a snag. Kinda like room request. Not guaranteed. I know several on here have used towncar services/taxi's and could chime in.

Thanks so much for the info. If we did do CL, could the boys (10) go in on their own to grab a drink/snack? Trying to give them a little independence and thinking if we felt comfortable letting them do that it would be a plus.
And is there always bottles of water/drinks? Just thinking of the convenience of being able to grab bottles on our way to the parks. I'm slowly getting "sold" on CL! Now I just have to convince DH!

I love your question- no idea about the answer (although I suspect it would be no).

As MickeyT suggested, you should contact the BC. Since you are staying club level, I would ask IPO if there is anything they can do to help.

Definitely let us know the response you get!

Thank you - I have my own motivator.
Every year at our BC/YC Mini Dis Meet we take a picture and post it on the first page of this thread. in 2010 I was at a good weight, a little heavier in the 2011 picture and I would have been a little heavier in this year's picture if I didn't do something fast!

Congrats on the weight loss, Robyn! That is fabulous! Fortunately, as a Flat participant at the DIS meet, I don't have to worry about my appearance in the photo (although I do hear the camera adds 1/16th of an inch...)

Just wish the 2D appearance was that easy in real life!

There are definitely things you can order like chocolate covered strawberries or a chocolate Mickey, but I'm not sure who you call for that.

Have you had a chance to look over the info and pictures on Page 1 about club level. The link to the article on EZ WDW about whether CL is worth it is broken, but I think if you search on the web, you can find it.

Do you drink? I'm not being nosy, but that is another advantage to club level- beer and wine are offered with the early evening appetizers and cordials are available with dessert.

There are always cold drinks in cans or dispensers (soft drinks, lemonade, ice tea) and glass bottles of Evian set out. There are no plastic bottles for you to grab to take to the parks. If you ask the CL CMs, they will give you a bottle of water to take back to your room and you can refill a bottle with that.

Hello I'm french. Sorry for my english.

I'm going to Yacht Club in August 2013. It's my first time and i'm very exciting. I only know Disneyland Paris and i like it !

I have a question. When i'll arrive, i think to have dinner at beach club market place. How long does it take to go from Yacht club ?

And how long does it take to go in Epcot by walking ?

Thank you very much for your help

I know others answered your questions- just wanted to say :welcome:

Please let us know if you have other questions!

We're back home. It was a wonderful vacation, and even intermitten rain didn't dampen (ha!) our spirits. I'm going to try and do a mini trip report for y'all, but in the meantime, some highlights were:

Welcome back and thanks for the great report!!!

This coming Sunday/Monday, we're at AKL/SoG, but next Sunday/Monday we're CL at BC, so we'll be sure to stop by and say hi!! We chatted a few trips ago because my friend, Spring, wanted us to send her regards. Maybe December '10?? Anyway, can't wait to be back at BC!!!

Yes, your boys could go into the lounge by themselves. They no longer have the individual plastic bottles of water. They are using larger glass bottles which would not work for going to the parks. During the hours the lounge is open there are sodas in a small refrigerator.

Don't even bother asking in the afternoon. So many people started to do that, that now they just tell you it's first come/first serve. Lots of times they won't even let you wait for an open patio table. Don't worry if you get an inside table though. You can ask to be brought out to the patio viewing area for Illuminations.
