2011 Yacht & Beach Club FAQ, Part III- DO NOT POST HERE- Summer/Fall

One thing I forgot to mention about the Beach Club CL lounge is this. At 5:00 PM they open the doors and it's almost like when people run to Toy Story Mania for Fast Passes at rope drop. Basically people were running to the food offerings like they were all going to be taken away in 5 minutes.

I am sorry to say that this part of my review will not be a good one so I appologize in advance to any Beach Club fans.

I have to say their Club Level was horrible. Very rude and cold Cast Members at check-in and the ones who work in the lounge watch over everyone until they are ready to clear the plates off the tables.

For example the Cast Member who checked us in saw we had just stayed at the Boardwalk and made a joke that their best quality is they face the Beach Club. I realize he was making a joke but we didn't think it was funny.

It was just a horrible experience that the next day on September 1st we decided to switch back to the Boardwalk Inn, which we did and got to stay in the room we previously had. So it goes without saying we are never again going to stay at the Beach Club.

Aw sorry you didn't like it. I can't say I am a BC CL fan but I LOVE YC CL!!! We stayed BWI CL 09 and really liked it but 2010 and 2011 belonged to YC CL. Honestly no comparision....But it really is in what you want in a trip. I found BWI CL people talked to me too much and I am not into that. I like to be left alone with my family and not approached for idle chit chat. But that is me. BWI I didn't like that it did not have the private floor like BC or YC did...I think if you tried YC CL you would enjoy it as well. Though I will respond to your comment about the people with the dinner hour. We stayed CL the last 3 summers and honestly every time whether it BWI or YC it was an instant group of people lined up for food.I remember at BWI there was a grandmother who annoyed the heck out of me b/c every meal every day she gathered at least 20 chairs up and 4 tables and rearranged the entire eating area for her family to sit. They weren't there so she just held up these seats for quite a while....she drove me nuts.

This is where we are the opposite because we enjoy talking with the CL Cast Members and we don't care that their CL rooms are not on a secure floor like the YC/BC.

Now this is not a shot at the YC but I honestly can't see us staying CL anywhere else because in our opinon nothing comes close to the BWI.

Finally I agree what that Grandmother did was rude and in my short time at the BC I saw another family do the same thing, while a father was waiting for his daughter and her family.

Glad you had a good time, except for the drive home. We drove both ways, but we took it slow with 3 days of driving/2 nights. I did laundry twice on our vacation. The second time I swore I was in Great Britain. EVERYONE at the quiet pool was from there. LOL.

This made me chuckle, I was born and raised in England, hence the Brit part of my "name" on here. I actually thought I was in England the entire trip, I have never in my life been around as many Brits and not actually been in England ;)

Hi, I was wondering if you could add my family's stay also.
We will be staying at BCV for the first time Feb. 8-11, 2012 :cool1:
My husband and I are bringing my sister, niece and nephew. I have been showing them pictures of the pools and the resort and they are soooo excited.

Here are a couple more gorgeous pictures of Lily.

I know a lot of you are new to the thread- there is a lot of history here and a lot of great friendships made in past versions of this thread, but I want to introduce Teena to anyone who doesn't know her (yet).

Teena is a greeter in the lobby of the Beach Club

P7110023-1.jpg

Look for her on Sundays and Mondays unless she and Bob are on one of their treasured cruises to Castaway Cay or out visiting her two shining lights in Vegas, her daughter Jeanne and her first grandchild, Lily born in July.

We were all eagerly awaiting "Peanut's" arrival in the months leading up to July and even had some fun, friendly competition to guess her birthdate and whether she was a Princess or a Pirate.

Lily's arrival was a very special moment for our beloved Teena in a year that has been tough due to some health issues. She bravely shared what she was going through with all of us, once again, in an attempt to help others who may be facing similar challenges. :grouphug:

Teena has faithfully posted on this board and has helped us all gain great knowlege about these resorts, so many of us who hang around here can now also answer the questions that are posted here.

I will occasionally post the photos she provides to me, because, well, Teena may know everything there is to know about the Beach Club but she don't know beans about technology! :rotfl:

OK, intro over! Back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Just back from our 1st BC stay and I have to say it did not disappoint! We absolutely LOVED the resort, so pretty, so much to do , such a great location.
As soon as we checked in the CMs around the lobby were really nice. I had requested ground floor and close to the pool, which I didn't get, but we did get a GV with a balcony 2588 (I booked a standard). It has become somewhat of a joke in our family that whatever small request I make , we never get it. I am OK with that, I know it's just a request, but it is funny to read others requests and see that they are granted and no matter what I ask for, in what resort they don't have it. We really don't use the balcony or care about the view much. I would truly rather have a room in a convienient location to the pool and lobby overlooking the dumpster than be far away from the action in a room with a nice view. If we are staying around the resort in the evening, I like being down by the beach or the pool rather than on my balcony. But all in all, we liked the room, we loved the resort and were very happy.

Never having been in the area, I underestimated the "walk to 2 parks" idea. I knew it could be done, but didn't realize how incredibly convienient it was. On our 1st Epcot RD morning, we set out at 8 as we always do, and had to laugh when we arrived at the IG at 8:03. The CMs there asked if we were there for an early breakfast and then chuckled and said "1st time staying over this way?" Another day my 2 teens popped over to DHS while we were relaxing at the pool and did a few rides before meeting us in WS for dinner.

DH (who didn't used to be the biggest Disney fan) stated that he is never staying anywhere else again. I like trying different resorts, but if I can get him to go without a fuss and stay at BC, no problem! We are happily booked for next August.

Thank you for explaining Teena to us. I have read some of the early posts but still did not get that she was a Greeter at BC. We arrive on a Sunday so I hope that we get a chance to me you, Teena!:)

I have to say that goofy pic is so adorable. Love the smile!

Anyone arriving Sept 23-24 that might be interested in any leftover water or snacks we may have? We have groceries (a lot) delivered by WegoShop and tend to have extras. We always post to find someone to "donate" to. We're staying at BCV.

I loved BWI CL soooo much I wrote a note to corporate about it along with some minor enchancements I think BWI/YC/BC shoul make on their parking. As in I think CL guests need closer parking but hey I never actually walked to the lot DH did and picked us up but still! BWI was especially awful in this department of parking...I didn't return to BWI CL 2010 b/c I felt no trip could ever be as good as 09 BWI CL! It really really was nice!!!! But I do prefer YC CL in terms of atmosphere and the pool. if you don't have kids the SAB is not a huge deal but for my DD12 it is the end all to be all! Though in 2009 I had the best of both worlds stayed at BWI CL and used SAB pool b/c side was down at BWI. That was great! :)

Sorry your trip didn't go as envisioned but at least you were able to make it right the following day. Different strokes for different folks. I sound antisocial I know but one of the reasons I didn't return to BWI CL was the chattiness. Weird of me right????:lmao:

Aww, the photos of Lily and her mama are precious! What a darling baby she is!! So happy Teena was able to get out there for a nice visit. Looks like Teena might just want to learn enough technology to set up Skype! ;)

Thank you so much for sharing Lily with us!

natebenma, thank you for posting the pics!:goodvibes

5 more days!!!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:
DD woke up sick today!!! NOOOOOO!!!!!!! :( :( I am praying that she feels better by the weekend and that my Hubby and I do not get it!!!!

This makes me so excited. :yay: I haven't quite accepted that it's possible, it seems too good to be true. That's going to be awesome.

Thanks so much for explaining who Teena is! I had seen her name on here and not really known who she was. I look forward to meeting her next year. Beautiful baby pics :lovestruc

Hey gang. We have always traveled to WDW in Aug. It's hot, we (mostly I !) love it, and we know what to pack. Now we are traveling to WDW the first week (3-10) of Dec, and we are wondering what we "might" expect for weather ? Our DS is there on an internship til Jan, so he will be able to give us a hint (hopefully) as we get closer, but we were looking for some advice from people who have been there at this time of year. Thanx for any help.

Expect the unexpected. You need to be prepared from mitts and jackets to shorts and t-shirts. When I went last year, we started the week in shorts and swimming then mid week I saw some donning mitts and parkas while we switched to sweaters and long pants.

natebenma, thanks for explaining about Teena :thanks: Beach Club/Yacht Club are my dream resorts :cloud9: so I have been having a marvelous time reading these threads and was wondering about Teena so this clears it up :yay: Hopefully some day I will be living the magic there for myself pixiedust:
