Hi!

My DH and I are booked for our first trip - December 2012!

We are currently booked BC CL, BUT! I am concerned about not getting a balcony, and I am reading some not-so-great things about BC CL.

So.........help me decide? Please?

Thanks!

We've stayed at BC and YC CL-both are wonderful. I think there is a bit more room in the YC CL and all rooms have a balcony. However, we have asked for a balcony with each reservation and received it, so maybe not a big issue? Our BC CL stay was just a few weeks ago, so that great experience is recent.

Dee, when you next do the update, could you add me to October--7-11 at BCV. Thanks.

Thanks, Dee, for the photos of Lily. She's adorable!

I am sorry to say that this part of my review will not be a good one so I appologize in advance to any Beach Club fans.

I have to say their Club Level was horrible. Very rude and cold Cast Members at check-in and the ones who work in the lounge watch over everyone until they are ready to clear the plates off the tables.

For example the Cast Member who checked us in saw we had just stayed at the Boardwalk and made a joke that their best quality is they face the Beach Club. I realize he was making a joke but we didn't think it was funny.

It was just a horrible experience that the next day on September 1st we decided to switch back to the Boardwalk Inn, which we did and got to stay in the room we previously had. So it goes without saying we are never again going to stay at the Beach Club.
Sorry you weren't happy about CL at BCV. It is tough when you pay so much money to be disappointed.

We had a wonderful experience with YC CL last week. All the CMs there were so eager to wish a wonderful/magical day, welcome us each and every time we got off the elevator, etc. I truly hate to say this, but my husband mentioned, "I'm not used to all this a... kissing." I laughed, but we quickly adjusted, and the CMs friendliness always put a smile on our vacation time no matter what.

This made me chuckle, I was born and raised in England, hence the Brit part of my "name" on here. I actually thought I was in England the entire trip, I have never in my life been around as many Brits and not actually been in England ;)
:lmao: It was actually very nice to hear all British accents. We had the same bellman coming and going, and he was British. I loved talking to him.

From my eavesdropping at the pool, there were quite a few families from the Manchester area.

One woman, when she found out I was from NY said she was going to NYC for her 40th birthday. I told her even tho I was from NY I had never been to the City. She laughed and said that while she was not far from London, she never desired to go there.

Also funny was when I asked her how long she had been at the YC, she told me a fort night. I pretended I knew what that meant... :rolleyes1

Ha, a fortnight is 2 weeks :)

I am partial to BC myself (I prefer the lighter, beachy decor) but many others are devoted to YC. My suggestion is to go to the first page of this thread and look at the pictures of the lobbies and the rooms from each of the resort, to see if one of them appeals to you more than the other.

If it will stress you out not to have the full balcony, then maybe YC is the place for you.

What view category have you booked? Standard, Garden or Water?

Dee, when you next do the update, could you add me to October--7-11 at BCV. Thanks.

Done :)

We stayed at the Yacht Club last week and we loved it! We had a big balcony, and looked straight out to the boardwalk. I didn't stay club level, so I can't comment on that, but I can say that I loved the quiet calm of the Yacht Club lobby. So peaceful, but definitely not stuffy! Whenever we ventured to the Beach Club lobby (to go to the Marketplace and Cape May), I was struck by how busy, busy it seemed. I don't think I'd enjoy that after all the craziness of the parks. I liked hanging in the Yacht Club lobby, having coffee in the AM, or waiting for my family to get ready to go somewhere (boy are they slow sometimes ;))
Other benefits - shorter walk to the Boardwalk and DHS, closer to the boat dock, great view of the fireworks.
Honestly, if a balcony is very important to you (and it was to me, too) I'd try the Yacht Club. I don't think you'll be disappointed. :goodvibes

upon reading many posts, I see that you can make requests when you check-in...never having stayed at the BC before what types of requests does one ask for....we have 3 rooms...1 is CL, 1 standard and 1 garden view...

Here are the September movies per Build a Better Mousetrip

Sundays - Tarzan
Mondays - Treasure Planet
Tuesdays - Gnomeo & Juliet
Wednesdays - Sharpei's Fabulous Adventure
Thursdays - The Fox and the Hound
Fridays - Lemonade Mouth
Saturdays - Tangled

Movies start at 9 PM, following the campfire and marshmallow roast.

Does anyone know at what time the movies typically begin in October?

Also, at what time do the smores begin and is it just marshmellow roasting, or is there something else that takes place for the kids (singing?, dancing?, games?).

It's been a rainy day in WV today with a high temp of 65. But I have spent my rainy day packing.....because we're arriving at BC in 6 days!!!! :cool1: Bring on the sunshine and SAB!!! We're ready!!! :cool2:

Cindy

Hey gang. We have always traveled to WDW in Aug. It's hot, we (mostly I !) love it, and we know what to pack. Now we are traveling to WDW the first week (3-10) of Dec, and we are wondering what we "might" expect for weather ? Our DS is there on an internship til Jan, so he will be able to give us a hint (hopefully) as we get closer, but we were looking for some advice from people who have been there at this time of year. Thanx for any help.

We were there last year in Dec 2010. When we arrived it was shorts weather, as the week went on we started to wear long pants and sweatshirts. We took a sleigh ride in Fort Wilderness after Hoop Dee Doo to see the Christmas decorations. The driver told us it was 28 (I had my winter coat on and a blanket and I was still freezing) the ride was supposed to be 45 minutes long, we ended up with a 30 minute ride instead.
SAB was closed because it was too cold to swim, even though the pool is heated. The lifeguards were dressed in one piece snow suits one day- I felt so bad for them. At night around the YC/BC, the workers were covering all the flowers so that they didn't freeze at night. We had 4 days like this- but I guess it gets cold in Florida too!!!!

I come from Connecticut, so I'm used to cold weather, but not in Florida-

This year we are going mid November, so hopefully it won't be cold then!!!

the only problem with this resort that I found is the BUS system !! Too many people sharring the bus there ... leaving Magic kingdom and Animal Kingdom were just horror shows all around ! They really should have seperate buses for Swan and Dolphin ... only share with boardwalk !
Thanks for the review! There have been many posts about the poor bus system. We always drive, but this vacation, I was toying with the idea of taking the bus to/from MK. The problem is not so much the bus to MK, the problem is that we're having dinner at Cali Grill that night. Since our ADR is for 5:30 pm, I think we'll be done around 7:30 pm. If we walk back to MK, it will be around 7:40 pm. MK closes that night for MNSSHP at 7 pm. Should I expect a long line, and stops at all 5 Epcot resorts at that time?

We had wonderful housekeeping, met lots of friendly cast members, enjoyed the Captain's Grill and Beaches and Cream. Breakfast offerings are the Ale & Compass were small in variety (Croissants, bagels, toast and muffins) but suited me just fine.
Any questions, ask away!
Thanks for the review! Did Ale and Compass have any "cold" items (like Yogurt Parfait and fruit salad?). How about cappuccino? There's one morning we won't have time for a full breakfast, as we want to make it to EMH, but it sounds like I may have to get to the Marketplace.

One thing I forgot to mention about the Beach Club CL lounge is this. At 5:00 PM they open the doors and it's almost like when people run to Toy Story Mania for Fast Passes at rope drop. Basically people were running to the food offerings like they were all going to be taken away in 5 minutes.
:scared1: Yikes! No wonder you did not enjoy your stay. That's the opposite of the peaceful club experience you were probably looking for, but maybe it's not like that all the time?

I'm one measly month away! :woohoo: I hope the weather cooperates. It seems this has been one rainy pre-Fall season.

We stayed BC CL in May and had a wonderful experience. I believe everything is what you make it. The CMs were friendly, helpful and hospitable. We felt more than well taken care of. Our expectations were high but not unreasonable. Our expectations were met with flying colors. Some guests can have an impact on your experience but we chose to move on and not let the actions of others ruin our time. We will be back again and stay CL at the BC.

I would also take into consideration someone's perspective that averages 19 posts per day since 2006. Take many perspectives into consideration when making your decision. Once you make the decision- don't look back and have a great time!

I have to get a standard view room...between the two YC & BC which one would I have a better chance with getting a somewhat decent view? We hope to go for a 2 week stay.

Vinotinto:
I took the bus to MK 3 different days. Each time we only shared with the BC. The Animal Kingdom bus shared with everyone, however.
I don't remember seeing yogurt or anything like that, but I wasn't looking for it either. I do remember the bartender making cappuccinos or lattes with the fizzy coffee machine though! Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Have a great trip!!!!
