Question about Stormalong Bay - if we can get a discount, we're planning to stay at YC and do Stormalong Bay on our arrival day. My parents live outside of Orlando and would like to spend the day with us. Are they going to be prohibited from entering the pool area? I haven't been there before, so I'm not really sure how it's set up. I don't care if they can swim or not, probably only my son will swim anyway. I just want to know if they can be in that area.

They can't really afford to join us on a park day, so we're trying to fit in time to spend with them. But this will be our only non-park time.

Thanks.

Still coming to you live from BC! Yesterday we were at rope drop for HS. DH was the TSM fastpass runner. 1st FP was for 10:10! Woo hoo! Got a 2nd FP when we used that one for 1:50. HS was pretty empty....walked on RnRC early.....DD8 finally overcame her fear of going upside down! Picked up a red velvet cheesecake cupcake at Starring Rolls Cafe (that was breakfast this am....yummy!). Had lunch at 50s Prime Time.....fried chicken and Boston cream parfait were very good! We all had our Perry/Agent P shirts on, so of course we had to do the Phineas and Ferb meet and greet. More SAB time late afternoon....had a little sprinkle of rain while at the pool.....not even enough to cool you off. Dinner was flatbread pizzas from the Marketplace and teriyaki chicken from the counter service in Japan (temporarily located in th kiosk used for the food & wine fest. Marketplace pzza was ok...kids liked it.

Today was AK....quick day planned.....Safari, Festival of the Lion King, Dinosaur, Triceratops Spin for DS3, EE, Kali rapids, and tough to be a bug complete by 12:30! EE is DD8's favorite ride so far (and I think mine too). Had a little SAB time afterwards.....ran into Teena and Bob by the pool. Dinner was at Biergarten tonight......food was great and kids loved the entertainment. They just had to go dance! Did Soarin' after dinner and then took DS3 to see turtle talk with crush while DD8. And DH did Mission Space. Kids are exhausted....and ao am I! One more day to go :(

We are probably going to skip AK this trip. But the one thing we like about it is you can fit so much in such a short period of time. Nathan and I went there alone last year while DH was at a convention. We were done by 1pm then headed to DTD. But we were so exhausted!!

I love the idea of being able to sneak back into Epcot at night after a day somewhere else for rides and such. Sounds like you are having a great trip!

Sorry for your loss, but hope you have an amazing time at BC! Seems hard to believe we just left BC 15 days ago :sad1: Having withdrawals now!

Thanks... I am hoping that this gives us a little time to be free of worries and enjoy ourselves...:yay:

Each person has to show their room key in order to enter the pool area.

I believe the walls are insulated with unused phone books so it's super quiet. I could be wrong though.....

:lmao::thumbsup2

I almost just spit coffee all over my screen at this one!

And thanks to Cindy Dare for the live updates! Your plans yesterday were one of the many reasons we have come to love the EPCOT side so much! As easy as it was to hop on the monorail to head to MK for a similar evening, we just enjoy escaping to EPCOT so much more now!

Another thanks to those that are keeping us updated on the construction as well!

As DisneyMomx7 mentioned, everyone needs their own room key to enter Stormalong Bay.

Here's an option that might work if they don't plan to swim and want to just have a place to sit for a little while: they could grab a drink or snack and sit in the Hurricane Hanna's seating area. You don't need room keys to enter that area and there is some nice shady seating at the tables. If they have a good spot, they could see most of the zero depth area and have a nice view of the lake in the other direction. It's not a solution for an entire day, and depending on your son's age, someone will likely want to be in the pool with him or closer to him than the HH seating area. But it might work if your son wanted to get in an hour of swim time and your parents wanted to be nearby.

A few photos of that seating area:

I took these while we were eating lunch at Hurricane Hanna's on August 28 - the ones of the pool area are zoomed a bit, but you can get the idea!

Have a great trip!

Love walking back to EPCOT for Illuminations. Several times been sitting in the room at 8:30, jump up and catch the show and back in the room by 9:30.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was afraid they wouldnt be able to join us. My son is 9 and a good swimmer so this might work. I'm planning maybe 2 or 3 hours at the pool. Then dinner and some time on the boardwalk. Really just want some time for DS to do things we missed on the last trip (pool and boardwalk) and not feel rushed. If my parents join us for the latter half of pool time that should work.

I'm thinking we might do Cape May for dinner.

Another suggestion would be to go to the quiet pool. They can sit in the lounge chairs there.

Well, we leave tomorrow morning for our Anniversary trip and stay at the YC!!!:cool1:

Just wanted to wish everyone who is heading down over the coming week safe travels and lots of pixie dust!

I will be sure to report on phone book situation and locations when we arrive. I tried to pack one last night, but sadly, it sent my luggage over the 50lb limit.:confused3

Have a wonderful time!!!!:woohoo:

We're back from our mini-vacation at the Beach Club. It was wonderful!

We checked in early and was greeted at the door and taken up to club level. We're old so they put us in 5654 ... very close to the elevators. And as previously reported, there was no phone book in the room. We quickly changed our clothes and at 9:30 headed down to SAB to wait for them to open. We were told we were Family of the Day at the pool and got in early, got extra large towels and reserved seats. Very cool! We played cards under the umbrella and every other hand hit the pool to cool off. Had burgers from Hurricane Hanna's. The love bugs were there to help eat our lunch. Tuesday and Wednesday they were there but not so much that it was uncomfortable. Thursday they multiplied by thousands and we spent most of the day in the pool to avoid them.

We got back to the room around 4 to change for our Cape May dinner. There was a beautiful gift waiting for us in the room with a beautiful 32nd anniversary ornament and some wine glasses. So nice!!!!!! We had a nice message on the phone from Patrick, one of my managers wishing us a happy anniversary. Then a second message was from George, another one of my managers, informing us that they had noise complaints from our room and they were not accustomed to guests like us that make so much noise and to please simmer down. Very funny!

We went down to dinner and I saw George and gave him a hard time. We had a super dinner and then walked around outside to help digest. Upon arriving back at the room, the first thing we saw was a phone book on the bed. It just made our day. We sat on the bed and argued who was going to read it. I won. Bob read his book instead. We were asleep early but at 12:37 AM the TV came on loudly on its own. I jumped out of bed, ran over to the chest and knocked things over trying to find the remote to turn off the TV. Very strange. Bob said it was a ghost.

Next day it was back to the pool and another CM made us Family of the Day. I told them we were Family of the Day the day before and he said, well, you're Family of the Day again today too. Holy Cow!!!! We played cards and floated around on our noodles all day. That night we had dinner at Teppan Edo ... the filet was soooooooooooo good!!! I couldn't wait for Wednesday night. Bob fell asleep around 8 PM. I watched Survivor and Big Brother Finale. So thrilled that Rachel won!! Fell asleep at 11 PM, and at 12:37 AM the TV came on loudly again. This time I had the remote by the bed so it was an easy fix.

The next morning I found one of the concierges and I said, hey guys, I'm very electronically stupid ... our TV is coming on LOUD every night at 12:37 AM. Can you show me how to unprogram it. She said "that's what happened to the TV". Apparently it was in other rooms. Every time a guest tells the CM what the tv does, engineering comes and gets it and "fixes it" and it ends up in different rooms. Well, apparently it really never gets fixed. Now it's in 5654. Then the CM went back to the room with me and put a small sticker on the bottom of it so if another guest comes to them with the same story, she can see that it's the same TV and report that it is never really being fixed, just relocated. I'm sure engineering thinks it's fixed but it isn't! They called it in to engineering. After the pool on Thursday (the love bugs were sooooo bad), we headed back to the room to find two construction workers on our balcony. We just closed the drapes and proceeded with showers and changing for dinner. They were singing and having a good time apparently. We figured we might be charged extra for the entertainment.

Third night we met Lauren and had dinner at Italy. It was great!!! Got back to the room, Bob went to sleep early and I chatted with friends and fellow CMs most of the night.

Came home this morning and I'm busy doing laundry and such. Overall it was one of our best vacations. We decided we want to do it again at the BC ... the food was great, the pool wonderful and it was sooooooo relaxing.

The CMs up on the fifth floor are great. It's hard for me to give a true report on them since they treat me differently since they know me. There were some rude guests and some wonderful guests in the lounge but you certainly can't judge the lounge on the guests that happen to be staying there. We got to hang out a bit with some fellow disers too which really made the trip extra special!

I took some pictures with my trak phone and my pal, Lauren, posted them on facebook and I asked Dee to post them on the thread here since I don't know how to do it.

Teena,

I am so glad that you had a wonderful time! LOL at the phone book on your bed!!

Teena - sounds like you and Bob had a fantastic time!

I completely agree with you about the CL CMs. We always thought they were all so nice - especially Pete and Ivan. When Taylor broke her leg last year and was still in the wheelchair when we came they went overboard
trying to make sure she had a great time. We think all the BC CMs are super. We always have the nicest CM (Gloria) for turndown service. We like her so much we ask every year if she can do our room again!!!

You had dinner at two of my favorites - Cape May and Tutto.

This was the first year that we saw the "Family of the Day" at the pool - it looked very cool. We were once Family of the Week (I think that's what it was) at YC and were upgraded from a sv to cl, but this was the first time I saw it at the pool. Don't you just love the new lounge chairs at SAB.

Happy Belated Anniversary!

Teena,
So glad you had such a good time! We also found the CL staff to be very helpful and pleasant.

I guess I need to scan back a little; what's up with the phone books?

Teena we are so glad you had a wonderful vacation and Anniversary!! You and Bob deserve every bit of the wonderful treatment:cloud9:, The Noodle Family, and the RELAXATION!!!

Can't wait to see you again in December, this time you can meet our kids.:thumbsup2

Teena, so happy you had a wonderful anniversary mini vacation at BC! What fun to be family of the day TWICE!! The entire stay sounds just Perfect!!:goodvibes

Your trip sounds so relaxing that I just might need to book a few nights too...want it to be as off season as possible though, which I guess would be mid January to very early Feb? Know the weather can be very iffy then, but I wouldn't be using the pool, just enjoying BC.:cloud9:

YAY, Teena, sounds like you had an awesome trip! You sure did deserve it after the day you had. Glad you enjoyed your phone book!!! :lmao:

PaDisney, the phone book references go back to a negative review posted by a person whose loyalty lies with BWI. His complaints included no phone book in the rooms. Also that there were no robes (but they were brought up when asked) but mostly that the CL CM were not to his liking because they watched his family when they ate and didn't chat with him. Also, he said he got some 'tude when he asked for Sprite Zero (when at BWI they already know that one of his party liked Sprite Zero.) I believe he got his Sprite Zero, but he still called it the Sprite Zero fiasco or some such language. Oh, and there wasn't a table to put your dirty plates in the CL lounge (possibly why he was being "watched" - so that the CMs could bus his table!) Yes, not to his taste, but he stayed less than 24 hours and said that his stay was awful and horrible because of the above. We're just having a little fun with the comments!!!!
