quick question for the transporation experts:

thinking about heading to DTD after leaving MK one day, and thought about taking the Saratoga Springs bus, then the ferry over to DTD. But I wondered if STS has more than one bus stop? and if they do, would you know which stop we should get off on to be near the ferry?

It may be so close that we could walk over from STS, but we've never been there so I'm not sure how it's laid out.

In my opinion______My route would be POR. Mostly because I know it. Get off the bus at the lobby stop, straight through the lobby (either quickly or slowly and enjoy) and right out the back of the building to the boat. Enjoy the Sassagoula. Saratoga would be closer but not near the scenery.

Ooooooh & if you went via POFQ, you could stop in at the foodcourt for some beignets! yum!

This week was tough ... didn't realize a person could feel so lazy. However, I'm now officially half way done which is a good thing to focus on.

Jeanne sent us a 3D sonogram DVD of Peanut. It was unbelievable. You can see Peanut blink and count the fingers. Jeanne put on some rap music and Peanut actually covered her/his ears with its hands and then she switched to Michael Buble and Peanut took his/her hands away from the ears and actually smiled. The stuff they have now is amazing. After watching it, I'm thinking girl because it liked Michael Buble.

Oh how wonderful to have something like that to watch and cherish. A music critic already but I have to say he/she has good taste.

Yeah for being at the half way point :thumbsup2

To start with here is a picture of those WONDERFUL YC/BC Disboard pins.
I was SO EXCITED when I got the mail today and there was an envelope from Nannette!!

Thank you so much to Nannette for sending me one! Thank you as well to RustManFan of the Creative Designs Forum and DIS'er Janloz for their efforts!

After receiving the pin I applied my screen name using the free font "Minnie" that I downloaded from the web. This pin will go in a place of honor on my camera bag!! :thumbsup2

In other news I am now on my 3rd company to print my "lime green Dis-Boards symbol that does not in any way resemble a trademarked object belonging to a monolithic entertainment corporation that favors rodents".

The first two chickened out ('Zizzle' and 'CustomFink') and they are on Marlton Mom's black list for all of eternity, which apparently starts May 21st!

I finally called Sonic Shack http://www.sonicshack.com/ and after a brief phone conversation letting them know that I had in fact designed MY art MYSELF I was able to convert the heck out of my files and submit it for printing.

Sonic Shack was great because 1.) they understood what was legitimate as far as designs were concerned and 2.) they have a check box on their site that says that you agree that you have the rights to your design.

It was so refreshing to deal with a company that had a clue about these things!! BTW I couldn't use VistaPrint because they didn't have the size I wanted. I'm planning on using it as a cover up at the pool if I'm ever on dry land. Teena (and others) will be much relieved to hear that Marlton Mom will not be parading her naughty bits around the hotel lobby. :bitelip:

Ok so Now we get to the pool noodles. Before I set up a swap thingie I want to just try to understand the general rules for the fridge swap thing. I see your posts Noodle People and I'll compile a list and we will work it out.

I was looking for some sort of a bag to hold the noodles but I think we should just go with a bungie cord and a sharpie to keep things together.

QUESTION FOR TEENA: Will bell services let us store the noodles with them if there is a gap in the hand offs??

Ok now the moment you have all been waiting for! I have a PICTURE comparing the two sizes of pool noodles! Calm down and remain seated!

Here it is:

pool noodle comparison picture by Marlton Mom, on Flickr

Look how shameful the smaller one is!! The large one is only 3 1/4 inches wide so you can just imagine how tiny the other one is!

Would YOU want to be seen with one this wimpy??

~I think NOT!!!~

Notice they didn't even bother to shrink the hole so you get half the noodle and all of the hole! What is America coming to when we accept sub par floatation devices?? What's next, toilet paper that's half the size of your holder?? Oh wait, never mind on that last one... too late!

I also have a confession to make.

I went out and bought 4 more voluptuous pool noodles for home. :sad2: Before you judge just know that all summer, I would have been in the pool, and after the children stole my floating lounge chair, I would have had nothing to hang on to.

I also took another trip to the post office to mail my crochety, ancient, 'Mr. Coffee' Iced tea maker to the hotel. This thing is on it's last legs and I'm sorry to say it's not swap worthy. It has a date with the dumpster as soon as we check out. I picked up another one at Walmart for $20 so Marlton Mom will be living large when she gets back.

Now all I have to do is pack half a metric ton of camera equipment and more clothes than I'll probably use and I'll be all set!

Well that's it from me. If I don't quit now Heather, Charley and Joseph will never get to bed!

Sweet dreams and fast recoveries!
~MM

First off I got to get one of those pins. I love rustman dissigns. :surfweb:
Second, Teena I am sorry your haveing a weak week. I hope you feel better soon! But it is great that you got to see peanut!

Now MM: You are so awsome! Charlie my DH wishes he could meet you face to face one day. He came out of the bedroom from his cub/red sock game just to hear your post tonight! Then when he saw the pics of the noodles he was so excited that they will even hold him (if he uses two). :worship::cool1:
Joeseph says: today was a rough day his allergies are working over time. We was loveing all day and we gave him singlar and zyrtec, hot tea (he fell in love with after the Kim Possible UK mission) and a hot shower he was ready for his dose of MM. He is a little spacey right now but he thought it was cool that someone mentioned him in a post. He also can't wait to get into the SAB for the first time in Dec. he said the noodles are going to be cool when he takes a break from the slide when his legs feel like jello after going down the slides over and over again. P.S. he says he can't wait to see the pics from your upcoming vacation.:banana::banana:

Your right MM it is bed time so til tommorow, night night!:angel:

Ooooh, can't wait to get my pin! Thanks for posting the pic, and the pics of the pool noodles! Who knew? We'll be picking some up pre WDW while in Ft. Lauderdale, planning on using them there & on the Gulf Coast before we get to WDW. So will be happily floating thru Florida  Does Walmart carry the big noodles?

Teena love the music & Peanut, how funny!

Be sure to get lots of rest, your body needs it to heal! Congrats on the half way, you can see the light at the end of the tunnel now :thumbsup2

Yup!

Write up a brief description of how it will work and the list as it currently appears. I can periodically edit as we have new floaters on board.

Did you by any chance photograph your precious noodles before sending them off? If no, you definitely need to pull a catalog link photo or something, so people know they will be commiting (commited?) to be the caretakers of the rolls royce of noodles.

A direct handoff would be best, but sometime a family's vacation schedule may make this difficult to arrange, so a plan B might be a good idea.

Anyone know if it would be permissible to leave the noodles at Bell Services with the instruction that Guest B will be checking in on XX/XX/11, and will be picking them up. The fridge swaps at the value resorts work something like that.

I am also envisioning some kind of noodle tattoo or id tag so we can identify OUR noodles, but I can't really think of anything that would last and/or would not injure the delicate foam.

Unfortunately, the appropriate punishment for anyone who breaks the chain will be virtually impossible- wait for it-

Public flogging with a wet noodle

but maybe it will be VIRTUALLY possible, so please exercise extreme caution if you are in the rotation!

These ideas are all submitted for your approval by Dee, who is using her "noodle" for the good of others.

:lmao::lmao: Public flogging with a wet noodle, too funny.
Marlton Mom great idea! I would sign up but going to get noodles for use while in other Florida destinations before ending in WDW. Maybe I can add my noodles to yours, after we leave BC, we can have a flock of them:rotfl:

Does Walmart carry the big noodles?

Yes, Walmart has common sense and caries the big ones. They can usually be found hanging around those skinny ones, probably trying to talk them into eating more so they can plump up like a responsible noodle!

Like anything else though get 'em while they're in stock. I've noticed that the voluptuous ones tend to go first and the anemic ones tend to hang in there until the 4th of July. After that it's hit or, mostly, miss for pool noodles.

Apparently now is "Noodle Season".

Who knew! :confused3

~ Marlton Mom, who is getting kinda worried that she knows far too much about pool noodles for her own good! :rolleyes1

You tell Joeseph that Marlton Mom has really bad allergies too but that the Zyrtec and Singular really helped her so it's only a matter of time before he starts to feel better! Tell him to wash his hands frequently because when he is reacting to all the allergens in his environment his immune system is taxed and he is at risk for colds.

For the last 2 years now I've been a fiend about everybody washing their hands all the time and ESPECIALLY as soon as they come in the house.

I go to the doctor right away when I feel like I'm getting a cold. I'm a diabetic and colds always morph into sinus infections for me. I used to be stubborn and try and wait it out but now I've wised up and I make an appointment with my doctor right away to start treatment. Not everybody goes from a cold to a sinus infection but as a diabetic I do so that's why I go.

I know how miserable allergies make you feel so I really hope you feel better!

Hang in there Teena. That week break will help and being half way means you can start your countdown. It does wear you down so take care of yourself for the long run :flower3:.

Just so you know July 11th is my birthday. Sounds like Peanut is going to be a chip off the old block. Can't wait to see Grandma pictures in August.

Speaking of August......We changed our trip from BCV's to BC CL. Disney keeps rolling out those 'room only' deals that I can't resist. (Remember way back when they said these were gonna end!) Really didn't have a hard time talking the DW into Club Level in August heat. Lounge + SAB = One happy family.

To those of you that have gone down the slide at SAB, it's not that scary is it? I am a self-proclaimed scaredy cat:rolleyes1. I am thinking about conquering it. DH doesn't believe me, so I must prove him wrong.

August is taking sooo long:surfweb: I am ready to be at Disney!!

No its not scary. I really don't like waterslides at all but I went down twice:thumbsup2 you will do just fine. Prove him wrong, that's what I had to do to DH and both kids :goodvibes

Perfect!!!! SAB and the lounge in August - doesn't get much better!

Would happily look after the noodles between 18th and 22nd Aug if someone else hasn't asked yet. I would take great care of them, I would let them come with me to the Concierge lounge and feed them tasty pot stickers. We would cherish them and play with them every hour we can ....

My family and myself would love to have access to the noodles during our trip on 8/11-8/19. If not for the whole trip a few days during the trip would be great. They would be taken care of and pictures would be taken with them. I love all the idea's that are posted here. Great job everyone.

Chris

You beat me to it!!!! My family and I will be there 8/11-8/17...maybe we will see you poolside. I'm sure we will recognize the pool noodles with all of the writing on them. I guess we will be the family with the wimpy noodles:sad1:

Yay! Halfway there Teena. That must feel awesome.
Pain is a little better today, but I am so tired. I got up & walked around for a bit yesterday & I will get up in a little while to walk some more

Hello! I've been reading for a few months and finally started to officially join. We haven't been to Disney since Dec. 2004 when I was pg. with my daughter. We booked a CL room at the BC and will be staying Aug. 14-19 but may extend our trip. I'm excited to share the love with Lauren, stay at an Epcot resort and stay deluxe for the first time (last time we stayed at CBR).

BC seems like a great choice for our family and the boys, 12 and 9, will flip over SAB.

***siiiiiigh***

Sooooo, I overslept this morning. Every stinkin' morning DS13 & I say we're going to get up early to get our run/walk in early before it gets too hot but then we oversleep because neither of us are morning people. :guilty:

Hubby (at work on a Saturday) and I just had a phone call for the big conversation about when to try & schedule our family portrait sitting during the trip. 4 years ago we did family portraits in the MK. This time around we thought it'd be fun to do World Showcase in Epcot. You'd think with such a long trip (4 nights WL, Dream cruise, & 6 nights YC CL) we'd have no problem picking a morning. The problem is if we have a free morning it's because we planned to be out late the night before so we're supposed to be sleeping in. If we didn't stay out late then we're supposed to be at an early breakfast or rope drop somewhere. Getting us to narrow it down to what we'd want to "give up" in order to do the pics is like pulling teeth. You'd think we've never been before and won't be going back. We're so freakin' --> :goofy:! :earboy2: So now that we have a morning we can stomach (still think we're totally :crazy2:), I need to see if it's even available with the photography services. My luck, it won't be available and we'll be back to square-one. :lmao:

Marlton Mom, your leg lamp is the thing of legend. I now feel as if we are long-lost family. Yes. Nothing says Christmas to me like the soft glow of electric..... ......gleaming in the window. Seriously. :thumbsup2

***edit***
Got our preferred day/time for the portrait sitting. Whew! No more mental gymnastics & debate. LOL!

y DD13 is a 7/10 baby!!! we have so many July babies in our family. My youngest sister is expecting this July also-----her due date is 7/23.
:thumbsup2
