2011 Yacht & Beach Club FAQ, Part II

Well we just got a postcard asking us to do the Beach Club resort survey from our stay 2 weeks ago. I think the only problem we had was that no matter when we left or came back to the room, the room was never made up. We were always the last room it seemed. Our room was the last one but there were only about 8 rooms total and I saw 2 mousekeeper carts.

Also for our december bounceback trip to the Beach Club they only said pool/waterview was available so we took it.

Anyone know if a better rate or room for passholder rate comes out can we switch to that without losing our adrs made with the bounceback reservation? I am thinking we can if it goes right?

Also are any of the pool/water view rooms near the elevator because that is what we requested. Also do the pool/waterview rooms have more full or standing balconys or is about even?

luvmarypoppins: do you still have a copy of the BB offer? Do you know what the dates were? The reason I ask is because we have a Disney Cruise booked for June 2012. We're also going this Aug (2011). I'm thinking of trying for a BB if the dates are available. If not, I'm considering an AP when we go this year. We'll just go for a few days prior to the cruise.
Thanks!

We stayed at AKL last week and were able to apply the bounceback rate to one of our two August reservations!

Here are the remaining BB dates for 2011, but I have the card if you'd like more information:

5/31 - 6/4
8/21 - 10/8
10/23 - 10/29
11/13 - 11/19
11/27 - 12/3
12/11 - 12/17

When I spoke with the phone CM to apply the BB offer to our August dates, he mentioned that the 2012 dates should be available during our August stay.

Having just enjoyed a wonderful year with an AP, I can say it's definitely worth considering! We ended up using ours over four trips to WDW and one to DL - saved a ton between the 40-42% room only discounts, 20% off merchandise (I think that's still going until Dec. 2011) and 20% all our TS meals with the TIW card.

Happy Planning!

What is the BB offer? Is it a room discount or a FD package? Just wondering what to expect when we get there in Sept. E booked with a room discount but I know typically they offer free dining at that time cause every year that is what is offered, but I want the room discount!

It's a discount on a future stay (room-only) if you book your future stay before you check out. We used it to get 40% off our BWI CL stay! The only reason we didn't use it for our BC CL stay was that we'd have to switch from GV to SV.

OH BOY!!! My boys are 4 and 6 and not really swimmers at all...more like waders. This makes me so scared! I have a huge fear of pools and will be a nervous nelly the entire time. I am hoping I can keep them in the kiddie pool area and they probably won't want to go alone on the slide. I don't like the fact that I can't go down with them or wait at the bottom. I will just have to reinforce pool safety rules.

We have 28 days to go :cool1:, but I have yet to receive my Magical Express tags. The luggage is out, starting to pack and I am stressing over those darn tags!!!!!:scared1:

Please dont' let the information scare you so much you don't relax and enjoy the pool. I hesitated posting it, for that exact fear..............but felt that I would want the extra warning if my girls were still little.

There s PLENTY of kid friendly pool/sand area closer to YC. If you kids don't know about the slide already, they may not even notice that there is one if you sta on the YC side. If your in the pool with your kids, there is nothing to worry about.

A couple of the parents whose kids had to be saved were NO WHERE near the pool that the kids were in. Blows my mind.

I think parents sometimes think that if there are lifeguards, that thekids will be fine. I look at lifeguards as the last resort if I can't get to my own kids.

Enjoy the swimming, and playing in the sand..........it is truly one of the best pool area's in Disney.

Thank you PixarMom!
We'll be staying at VAKL for the first 1/2 of our stay this Aug - and BCV the second. We can't wait.
I apologize for hijacking this thread.... But I'm so grateful for the info!:yay:

I know, I know, but this one is for the Yacht Club! Page 1 references that a few Yacht Club rooms share an extra large balcony with another room. How few is few? Is it worth adding "private balcony" as a request? We booked a water view room, and I really want a lake view, but a private balcony is way more important to me. Thanks!!!:goodvibes

That is exactly what we did last time we were at SAB with my then almost 3 year old DD. It worked out great!

We just got our ME tags today! 30 more days :cool1:

I can already feel the sand from the bottom of the pool between my toes :beach:

Hello!:wave2:

My DD and I are GF fans who had a great time at the BC last year, and are in the process of planning a return to BC this summer. I've read the first page - great job, natebenma! - and from page 50 or so to the end today, but I still have a couple questions.:flower3:

We currently have a garden view CL room booked, and I was wondering where these rooms are located? Are they all facing the courtyard/gardens on the lake side, or are some of them on the entrance side? Do most of these rooms have a full balcony, or is it 50-50? We usually prefer to be near the lounge - doesn't have to be right next door, but we like being in the vicinity. Is this feasible if I request a full balcony?

I did contact IPO to introduce myself, and happened to ask if the lounge is still open 24 hours a day for drinks; they said it is, if anyone is wondering.:thumbsup2 I noticed from the posts last summer (and the first page) that they had this on a trial basis, but couldn't find if it had been extended or made permanent. Glad that it is still in force, as we often grab a drink on our way back from the parks.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed, this is a very informative thread.:goodvibes

Oooh, 24 hour lounge access would be great.

Here is one of those great Disney service stories...
We stayed CL at the CR last year and on one night we got back after the lounge was closed. We were so thirsty that we went down to the cafe to get some drinks. The mousekeeping staff noticed our drink cups in the garbage the next day so she took the time to stock our in room fridge for us so we would have drinks available even if the lounge was closed. It was such a nice touch.

I love Disney. :lovestruc

Belle summed it up. I'll just add in that the only thing with attaching your ADRs is for your convenience. For examples: being able to book 180 +10 out, being able to have a print-out at your resort of all your ADRs. Otherwise, it means nothing else. As long as you have your confirmation numbers, you're all set!

I thought we could also book 180 +10 days out but it will not let us online. We would like to eat at the BEACH CLUB is there a trick I'm missing? TIA
Jen

We will be coming to the YC/BC for the Christmas Season. I know most of the big ticket items not to miss, (Candle Light Procession, Osborne Lights, MK Christmas party) but what about the events that are just for the Christmas Season. This will be our first time at the YC/BC. The other times we have stayed at the GF or WL. What should we not miss? All information is a real plus to us.

Didn't see a response in yesterday's postings so I thought I'd take a shot. If you want some local action, the YC/BC has "special" events (choral groups, decoration making, etc.) going on usually beginning the first weekend in December. The schedule will be in your room packet. Teena is always pushing the gingerbread house kits that the local chef sells in the BC lobby that time of year. One of our favorite activities is walking around Epcot's WS and listening to the stories being told by that country's version of St. Nick. They are really interesting and informative of that country's local Christmas customs. If you are not consumed with being in the parks every minute they are open there is a really great "behind-the-scene's" tour that shows and explains the displays in two parks and two resorts as well as takes you to Disney's Christmas warehouse (it was worth the four hours it took to do the tour just to see the warehouse). Of course you have to visit your old stomping grounds of GF and WL as well as the CR and our very own YC/BC for the resort decorations. Don't miss the special Christmas shows in Epcot's FW as well as over at DHS which you don't have to pay exta for like the MVMCP activities in MK. Then, at least for my DW, there is always the special Christmas shopping in DTD that we have to do every year for the kid's stocking stuffers.

Have fun planning!

Thanks pixarmom! You told me something I didn't know! I never realized you could use the BB for the next year! I'm hoping we can use the BB for our July 2012 trip.

I totally agree with you about the AP. We bought a new AP and TIW card at the end of July 2010. We used it 16 nights on that trip and will be using it for 17 nights this trip. 40% discount last year and 35% discount off the room for these two years. TIW has saved us too much money to count. I love the fact that you can even use the TIW card for adult beverages.

We are down to 34 days until we leave for our vacation.
I can't wait to get back to the BEACH CLUB and to be lounging at SAB.

We'll be at the Poly the first two nights - first time trying Poly CL. Previously we stayed in gv and tpv Poly rooms. Since we are only staying two nights I booked a TPV CL room. Thank goodness for AP rates. I think DH would have a heart attack if he knew the rack rates for that room. Can't wait to try the cabana.

Anyone who gets the BEACH CLUB survey - we should start asking for cabanas at the BC. Since the GF, Poly and CR have them - why can't we?

I'm in the middle the survey now. Had to take a break, too many questions for me this early in the morning.

I will add something about the cabana's for you :thumbsup2

Is it crazy that I feel homesick for Disney and we have only been home for a week???

I have already started planning our next trip for May 2012, but I would like to sneak something in for Thanksgiving or X-mas time, even thought I know the crowds would be CRAZY at that time. I just can't stop thinking about being there.

I need Therapy.

We went when my boys were 2 and 4, and they stayed mostly in the sand-bottomed kiddie area. It was really fun for them there. We did take them elsewhere in the pool with their swimmies on. I think you'll be fine. Relax and enjoy!!

I thought we could also book 180 +10 days out but it will not let us online. We would like to eat at the BEACH CLUB is there a trick I'm missing? TIA

You can book 180 days out from the start of your vacation. Then you are allowed to make the rest of your vacation ADRs up to 10 days (i.e., day 2 of your vacation would be 181 days out, and you could still make ADRs for that day and beyond.). Hope that helped?

Thanks for making me feel better :). I do not leave my kids alone anywhere for fear of all the terrible things that can happen to unattended children. Yes, it is WDW, but things can happen anywhere. So we will be very vigilant and they wont' be out of arms reach. I have only stayed there once before and it was prior to children, so I wasn't aware of the pool stuff regarding children. I think my boys will be fine with playing in the kiddie area and if they go in the pool we will rent lifejackets and get some pool noodles. However, we will steer clear of the whirlpool area!

It blows my mind how dumb some people can be regarding watching their own children... god forbid that poor child drowns or is revived and has brain injury after the fact. They will be the first people to sue b/c the lifeguards didn't save their children in time. They are our responsbility!...sorry that is my rant. I just hope we dont' witness a poor child fending for themselves!

Apparently I need therapy too :rotfl:....I am mentally planning my next trip before I even leave WDW....I believe what you are suffering with is the "Disney Blues". They will not get better until you are able to call reservations and book you trip...but you will not be fully cured until you step foot in the resort upon check-in. Only to be followed by the DIsney blues again...it is a vicious cycle! :)

Good Morning Everyone!

I just wanted to say I think the idea of cabanas is an excellent idea.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day, we are into day 2 of a mini-heat wave here in Connecticut and trying to stay cool while dreaming of being at BC in October.

This is the dryer that was in my room at the YC in December:

Thanks for the photo! That will work fine. One less thing I need to pack.:)

We're in the two day heat wave too. In fact the kids have half days because of the heat. When we came outside this morning to take the kids to school it felt like walking out in the morning at Disney. Of course maybe I'm just wishing I was walking out of the Beach Club lobby!

Ocalla - don't feel bad. I start missing Disney the minute we leave. The only cure (for me) is to start planning another trip right away! I book our next trip (even if it's a year away) the day after we come home. Of course you don't need therapy, if you did that woud mean I need it too!

Teena - hope you are having a wonderful visit with Jeanne!
