So, while going through old pictures, I came across a notebook/journal I made when I was 6 years old. My mom used to make me keep a "Summer Journal" every year, and this was one of our Disney trips. Some of the things in here (besides my atrocious spelling!) are simply priceless, and I wanted to share:

The start of my journal:

Getting autographs: Bonus items.... behind Pluto, check out the (brand new!) Ghostbusters shirt....and the woman smoking the cigarette in front of Chip.... those were the '80s!

I actually remember this. It started raining while we were on the ride, and it shut down as we were climbing the first hill. We stayed there, at an angle, for about 10 minutes. (Also, note my excellent spelling...ha.)

This is perhaps my favorite. Remember when they had the little ink stampers? I'm almost certain these were the original Park Hopper passes:

And finally:

Yeah, that is a postcard. I loved it that much. :rotfl:

Just thought some of you would enjoy a little walk down memory lane! I didn't scan them, but apparently I had the parking passes too. They were a WHOPPING 2 dollars!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Very coool!!! Thanks for sharing!

When I read your original post I thought of what I had gone through 22 years earlier when I lost my dad in January on his 54th birthday. My parents were divorced as well. I have 2 bothers who I do not talk to because to his passing and greed. In September 2010 I received a small amount of money from the sell of some Florida swampland my parents owned together. This past October my DD and i went to Disneyworld and had the most amazing dinner at Shula's courtesy of my dad! DD turned 4 the day her grandpa died so at 25 we toasted to him and said thank you for the amazing dinner. Having a nice dinner and some drinks was my way of honoring him with the money I had received (it covered the cost of that dinner, Florida swampland isn't worth much!!) I have amazing memories at Disneyland with him, so I know that day he was smiling down on us while we had a drink and good food at Disneyworld!!

Hang on to all those memories... they truly do help.

Pretty much anything that does not have a view of water, parking lot or a roof. Anything that looks out to a garden, courtyard or woods area is a "garden view".

Thank you! Does this mean that the rooms on the very end of the resort facing Swan/Dolphin are Garden View? Are there any on the side of the resort facing the parking lot? I'm just trying to get a realistic idea of what rooms are possible if we book GV and our requests aren't available. I figure that the gazebo facing and maybe some main entrance facing rooms are GV but I'm hoping to find out where else we could get put.

Thanks again!

Now I'm intrigued! We had two rooms at BC CL that I would have THOUGHT would be classified as gv cl (with daybeds). They were 5636 and 5682. Can you tell me which room has switched categories - and what the new category is?

I will definitely do the exit survery and the survey that comes through the mail when we get home and ask about the cabanas. Oh just the thought of sitting in a cabana with a sunken treasure is taking me away . . .

Not a good day at the hospital. I feel so helpless watching her in so much pain. Many thanks to all who are keeping us in their thoughts and prayers.
Right now this thread is my "escape".

It's really amazing what this thread can do for people. It's like a little escape where you can come to get support and well wishes and lots and lots of prayers!! Continuing to keep your mom and family in my daily prayers, along with Teena and everyone else going through difficult times right now.

OMG what's left for me - no lagoon view cl rooms for a party of 5, now no gv rooms. Hmmm - will I be FORCED (LOL) to book a deluxe room?

I know! What are we to do? :) Seriously, Teena, this is great information to have. Our August reservation is for a GV CL room, but I'm thinking of switching to either standard CL or deluxe. I didn't put any requests on our reservation, but it would be nice to have the daybed for our little one. Think I should make a switch?

Erika and Shannon, hope everyone is feeling better fast! Sending happy healing thoughts!

Hoping for the return of puppy! Feeling quite nostalgic with all the lost items stories. As Dee (lost watch) and I (lost swimsuit) discussed some time ago, our lost items are all hanging out together. The most difficult of my family's lost items is my little brother's white blanket - lost at the Poly in 1983 - he was just four years old and it was very hard for him. One of our boys lost a prized Prince Naveen vinylmation (Teena witnessed our boys' vinylmation mania first hand - so you know how important that is!) but we found it under the daybed on our last day.

Jen, great photos! I love the old tickets - wow - great memories! We're headed in your direction in just three days - but the weather is looking yucky. I go home for better weather over spring break - I think I'm just having a bad weather travel year!

Robyn, more hugs - thanks for keeping us updated.

sndral, love your story and glad you're joining us!

Welcome to new posters! :welcome:

Wow. It has taken me almost an hour to get caught up on this thread!

Hi to everyone and welcome to our new posters. :cheer2:

At the BC, there are 7 lagoon/water view club level rooms with daybeds but at the moment (& this might be changing soon), you cannot book them if you have a party of five. There are 12 standard view club level rooms with daybeds and only one garden view club level room with a daybed (there are only 9 garden view club level rooms to begin with).

EEK! Thank you so much Teena for the great information! I think we will stick with the lagoon view and I will email IPO to add the request for a daybed on our reservation. We will be there in April with twin girls celebrating a birthday! :goodvibes

As a side note, it seems like these rooms are expensive enough that they should all have a daybed! Hopefully they can replace the couches with daybeds in the future.

Unless I stood on the balcony and looked out, I couldn't tell you. I'm sorry. To give you an example, at the BC, there is this room ... it's a corner room. I love that room. That room on the first floor is a garden view. That same room on the second floor I think is garden too. That same room on the third floor is standard and I have no idea if the one on the fourth floor is standard or garden. You can see part of a roof from the balcony on the upper floor so it changes the category.

The rooms that don't have daybeds in them don't have couches in them either. All the rooms are different sizes and shapes at the BC ... we would love to get our hands on the architect!!!! Lots of the rooms wouldn't fit a daybed.

There are two types of daybeds at both the YC and BC. The newer ones fit an average sized adult easily. The older ones fit a very small adult ... more for a kid. There is no way of knowing which daybed is in which room and the CM at the front desk and at the concierge desks cannot tell either by looking at the room description on the computer. The only way to tell which room has which daybed is by walking into the room itself.

Welcome to new posters! :welcome:

I absolutely love the deluxe rooms even the ones without a full balcony. They are so big and roomy and I don't find not being on the fifth floor a problem. They have trays in the lounge so load it up and take it back to your super large room and enjoy!!!!!

Thank you Teena!!! I've taken a look at a satelite image to get some idea and I think I feel a bit better about having some idea of which rooms may or may not be SV vs GV.

I just have to add one thing. You never cease to amaze me just how generous you are with your time, especially with everything you're going through. I appreciate all you do for us crazy folks here and I hope you don't mind that I've added you to my prayers.

Thanks again!!!

:scared1: Oh boy! LOL! Well....I just checked availability online and there are still available lagoon view rooms at an AP discount for our dates, so hopefully that means we have a good chance of getting our request! Teena I have read through most of this thread and what a blessing you are to help all of us, especially going through your health issues. Best of luck to you and I will keep my eyes out for you in a few weeks at the BC!

Hey! I know you! How's my Soarin' buddy doing?

Are you kidding? I can use all the help I can find!!! Thank you so much!

Only problem with looking at the satellite image is you can see if you notice a roof or not because you actually have to be standing on the balcony itself to see that part. For instance, lots of the rooms on the fifth floor, if you are on the balcony and look straight out you see some nice views but if you look down you'll see the roof from the fourth floor. That would most likely make it a standard view although you might think it would be a garden view.

Just stopping by to say Hi. Took me a while to get through all the pages of this post, but now I feel like I know so much cool information!

My family and I will be staying at Beach Club October 23 - 30 on a special trip for our DDs 7th birthdays. We are so excited. Thanks to everyone for all the great info! :thumbsup2

Did you check deluxe rooms because that's the only way you will be guaranteed a daybed and those rooms are awesome!!!!!!!

Does anyone remember what the hours for Stormalong Bay are during August & September and if it would be the same time during those months later this year?

We will be there in April with twin girls celebrating a birthday! :goodvibes

@ DeeCeeSW- I'm sorry to hear that you feel like you have gotten off on the wrong foot on this thread. I certainly hope that none of us have been intentionally mean or unwelcoming.

Sharing your personal story and the information about the supportive thread on the DIS is helpful for others on this thread who are going through some extremely difficult moments, so thank you.

Please let me know the dates you are visiting in August if you would like to be added to the guest list I have posted on page 1.

Dee

Thanks so much! :) We'll be visiting YC 8/21-8/28.
