2011 Beach & Yacht Club FAQ

Once upon a time a single mom and her young son were visiting CBR after their Disney cruise on the Big Red Boat. While riding the bus to Epcot, the mom saw the most wonderful resort and swimming pool she had ever seen and asked what was that? She was told it was the brand new Beach and Yacht club. She thought to herself - someday I'm going to stay there. The years went by and she returned with her extended family and they all stayed @ CBR and took a Disney cruise on the Wonder, then she stayed @ AKL on a special deal, then she put her son through college and celebrated by taking her mom and son and his friend to a moderate - POFQ, then her mom wanted the Poly so she went there, then her son wanted AKL, so she went there. Now, some day has arrived and come December of 2011, she's hoping to try the YC.
Thought I'd introduce myself.
Being thorough, I've read every single post in this thread, I read fast and it only took 3 days:lmao:
Congratulations on doing something for yourself! You will enjoy yourself at the YC...

I noticed the link to the IPO email address had an extra space in the .com part so maybe that was the problem? Hopefully it works now. :)

In one of the addresses, I left out the m in com. I fixed that, but I don't know why there is a space between the o and m now. When I go to edit, there is no space.

In the address CRResortFan posted, you can see the space too, but reports are that it went through.

IDK!!!

If someone has reason to use e-mail to contact IPO, could you try the link on the front page and let me know how it goes?

Thanks!

Love the story! Congrats on your stay:thumbsup2 Our first stay on site was CBR too! And now we are looking forward to our first stay at BC.

That is such a great story about Bear 2.0 and the CMs are such a big part of why I absolutely :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc WDW!! :) Unfortunately we don't have a Puppy 2.0 since he was a little gift from one of DS's preschool teachers last year. I'm still hopeful that Puppy will turn up but if not I might have to take DS5 to the store to pick out a little replacement.

Ah I so feel for you!! We switched rooms after the first night at Beach Club and dd realised 4 days later she'd lost her 'zeddy' toy that she'd slept with since birth. We didn't know if he'd been left at home, on the plane etc - we had my mum searching our house at home for him!! Eventually housekeeping found him - he'd been left it the first room - I can't tell you how overjoyed my daughter (and I) was!! My daughter who was 6 at the time said 'see disney really is magic!!'
I'm so sorry yours weren't found!!

Teena here's a question that maybe you can answer.

Do you think BC will ever get the cabanas like the GF and the Poly?
As you know we are staying the first two nights at the Poly and I rented a cabana for the second day. I would LOVE to be able to do that at SAB!

TigrLvsPooh - hope your ds gets better very quickly!

That's something I've never heard discussed anywhere ... but you never know ... fill out those exit surveys and the surveys that are sent to 40% of the guests after you get home. Tell them you'd love to see that at the Y&B!

Yikes! Oh oh....well....we are only a family of 4, but we do like to spread out at bedtime. Maybe I'll take a peak to see if GV CL is available and maybe downgrade the view. At the time, only standard view and lagoon view were available, so I thought we'd splurge and book lagoon. But if we're not comfy in bed, then I'd give up the view....I'll be anxious to hear what you find out Teena -- thanks so much for checking!

At the BC, there are 7 lagoon/water view club level rooms with daybeds but at the moment (& this might be changing soon), you cannot book them if you have a party of five. There are 12 standard view club level rooms with daybeds and only one garden view club level room with a daybed (there are only 9 garden view club level rooms to begin with).

So, while going through old pictures, I came across a notebook/journal I made when I was 6 years old. My mom used to make me keep a "Summer Journal" every year, and this was one of our Disney trips. Some of the things in here (besides my atrocious spelling!) are simply priceless, and I wanted to share:

The start of my journal:

Getting autographs: Bonus items.... behind Pluto, check out the (brand new!) Ghostbusters shirt....and the woman smoking the cigarette in front of Chip.... those were the '80s!

I actually remember this. It started raining while we were on the ride, and it shut down as we were climbing the first hill. We stayed there, at an angle, for about 10 minutes. (Also, note my excellent spelling...ha.)

This is perhaps my favorite. Remember when they had the little ink stampers? I'm almost certain these were the original Park Hopper passes:

And finally:

Yeah, that is a postcard. I loved it that much. :rotfl:

Just thought some of you would enjoy a little walk down memory lane! I didn't scan them, but apparently I had the parking passes too. They were a WHOPPING 2 dollars!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Ugh!!!!! The flu has hit. :scared1: NO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got home with ds, temperature of 103, bad cough, practically delusional. Please pray he gets well by Saturday and that my youngest doesn't get it. :sad1:

Thoughts and prayers for your son's quick recovery & for no one else in your family to get it. :flower3: Have a wonderful vacation!

It's an epidemic. I was asked to leave work today because I looked and felt feverish. Turns out I have an upper respiratory infection so not much they can do for me but still hoping it runs its course by the end of the week since we leave Saturday too! Hope your DS gets better quick!

I hope you feel better soon. :flower3: Enjoy your vacation!

Hmmm, I am confused because my family booked 2 GV CL rooms at BC, both for parties of 5.

Well, there is only one so I assume one of the rooms will get a rollaway. They are attempting to change it so nobody with a party of five can book a GV CL room.

Now I'm intrigued! We had two rooms at BC CL that I would have THOUGHT would be classified as gv cl (with daybeds). They were 5636 and 5682. Can you tell me which room has switched categories - and what the new category is?

I will definitely do the exit survery and the survey that comes through the mail when we get home and ask about the cabanas. Oh just the thought of sitting in a cabana with a sunken treasure is taking me away . . .

Not a good day at the hospital. I feel so helpless watching her in so much pain. Many thanks to all who are keeping us in their thoughts and prayers.
Right now this thread is my "escape".

OMG what's left for me - no lagoon view cl rooms for a party of 5, now no gv rooms. Hmmm - will I be FORCED (LOL) to book a deluxe room?

So sorry about your Mom!!!! I'll find out about those two rooms for you.

Is there any way to find out which non-CL rooms are now classified as Garden View? I've tried searching here and other websites but I can't find this info.

Thank you in advance!!!

Does the one GV CL room at BC have a full balcony?

Hopefully this will give you a giggle. I'm sitting at my computer which is on a counter top desk in the bay window of our kitchen. The window faces the back yard. Something catches my eye and I see, for the first time ever, a WILD TURKEY cruising through the back yard. Keep in mind this is in suburban South Jersey with a house every 1/3 of an acre apart.

I look at the dog and the dog says, "Yeah, I see it. I like the ones in the fridge better". OK, well maybe the dog didn't say that but he was thinking it!

Not 15 minutes later a skunk ambles through the back yard the same way, same direction!

I'm afraid to go out and look in the direction that this menagerie is coming from! I got pictures but they are really crappy because it's right before dusk so I won't post them.

All I know is that the dog will not be going outside unless he's on a leash!

Signed,
Still looking in Marlton

Pretty much anything that does not have a view of water, parking lot or a roof. Anything that looks out to a garden, courtyard or woods area is a "garden view".
