Dee and Teena.......Enjoy your trips. You both deserve it and thanks for all you do for our little Y&BC family.

Have fun Dee!!! Pixarmom left the BC yesterday. I miss that family already!! She said she completed all her picture assignments for you so be prepared!

So guys, I'm leaving 2/15 - 2/24 so I'll check the boards tonight after work and tomorrow before leaving for the airport and then I'll only have sporadic computer access at Jeanne's.

Have a great trip Teena!! Safe travels!

Jay

Wow just saw Dismom72 was from Stewartstown, I grew up in Shrewsbury but had may friends who went to KD high school.....Very small world

Teena,

I hope you have a wonderful time with your daughter.

I will be at BCV Feb 24 - Mar 1. Will you be there any of those days. One of the top things on my to do list was to meet you! I hope it happens!!

Unless they mess with my schedule again, I will be there Sunday and Monday, 2/27 and 2/28.

Hello BC/YC Disers!

Teena, we miss you too! :) We all agreed BC is even more special when Teena is there to greet us on our arrival day and walk us out to the Magical Express on our last day! She has three generations of fans in this family!

I had lots of fun with the photo missions - I took the boys along with me on missions during our afternoon breaks (too cold to swim except for just one day!) It was pretty funny because the boys were always trying to get in the pictures! And Robyn, we were just laughing like crazy taking all those photos of the BC Marketplace snacks. I was truly the "crazy lady in the BC Marketplace" that night!

So Dee, I have 46 photos in photobucket and ready to go! Let me know the most efficient way to pass them along for the board. And I'm not sure if I should PM the Marketplace snacks to Robyn or post them here. Robyn, if I post or PM them and there is anything you can't see clearly, I can zoom on my camera and give you more specific info.

First, the non-photo mission: Adult life jackets are permitted at SAB and available at no charge at SAB. If SAB runs out of adult life jackets or doesn't have them for some reason, the marina can provide life jackets for use at SAB at no charge.

As for a mini-report, I'm not even sure where to start! I'll get the two negatives out of the way immediately: 1) it was pretty cold at Disney and sometimes that cold came with rain; 2) we returned home to water spraying all over our kitchen, basement and laundry room (burst pipes) so our home is undergoing some significant post-Disney trip renovation. Ugh.

So BC gets better with every visit! This is our third BC stay in the last 11 months and I'm more biased after every trip, so I understand that my reviews are going to lose credibility. We stayed in a deluxe room on the 4th floor (room 4557) with a great balcony and a beautiful view of the quiet pool. Great room!

We enjoyed club level for so many reasons. Our three boys (ages pre-school to pre-teen) loved the lounge, and we did too. We loved breakfast - other posters have listed the variety of breakfast items and it was perfect for our family. Our boys asked to cancel Cape May on our last morning because they like the breakfast in the lounge so much. Our oldest son doesn't like to take afternoon breaks - but those snacks in the lounge made those breaks much better! My parents were with us for the first half of our trip and the lounge was a great meeting place for breakfast and before our dinner reservations. It's a comfortable spot with a casual feel. CMs were great. Examples: Neil who sent us home with a bag full of those taffy candies; Bret (fellow Packer fan) who assisted with our check-in and shared our post SuperBowl excitement - we wished he could have come with us to the MK SuperBowl parade; and the CM who replaced our oldest son's shield from the BBB Knight's package when he lost it!

Dining: We had to cancel our lunch ADR on arrival day because of the Packer victory and the MK Super Bowl parade. We ordered Hurricane Hanna's kids' meals in buckets and ate them at the bus stop before going to MK - I tried the burgers - yum.

We ate dinner in Epcot four out of six nights - that wasn't enough! Next time, we're only making an exception to our Epcot-for-dinner rule for California Grill. We love Epcot dinners so much (and the relaxing walk back to the BC afterwards.) La Hacienda was great (my husband is Mexican and says it's a contender for his favorite Disney restaurant.) Also love Via Napoli, Le Cellier and Chef's de France. And I really like Rose and Crown, but we can't ever get an inside table. The boys still enjoy Garden Grill and that's a fun arrival night tradition.

Location/transportation: Like everyone else, I've already said plenty about the outstanding BC location. We love to walk, so it's perfect for us. We waited a few times for the monorail from MK to TTC to Epcot and experienced some longer-than-usual waits (technical difficulties.) So we appreciated the ease of "self-transportation" to Epcot and DHS from BC even more than usual! The buses were fine - they stopped at Boardwalk before going to MK if there was room left on the bus for more guests. With the Boardwalk stop, BC to MK was about 18 minutes. Without the Boardwalk stop, it was about 15 minutes.

Dee, your cab advice was outstanding. We took a cab to Ohana for our 7:30am breakfast and back and forth to our 7:45pm dinner at California Grill. It was completely stress-free and worth the cab fare. (Side note: we love Ohana breakfast and Tusker House breakfast in AK was great too!)

SAB: Got a photo of the little wading pool and the shallow zero depth entry sand bottom area. As the photo will demonstrate, it's clearly NOT connected to the deeper areas of the pool. Most of that area is no more than two feet, 6 inches deep and one corner is a little over three feet deep. As for the playground, it's gone! I asked a lifeguard because I was a bit concerned that I only imagined that playground in the empty sandy spot, but he said they removed the playground to increase the seating at the pool.

It was tough to leave, but we're excited to return for our 2-day, 1-night BC stay after our August cruise. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Wow! Welcome back and thanks for the very detailed report!!! I was thinking about you this past week.

I am so sorry to hear about the difficulties when you got home. Any idea when it happened? I hope that not too much was ruined and that the clean up goes quickly.

I'm glad you had fun with your photomissions! Please thank the boys for me for their help.

Sounds like a wonderful room! I'm glad the family was able to enjoy the CL so much. Neil was particularly helpful to us, too, during our July trip.

I'll PM you about the photos. Would it be easy for you to upload the pictures to my photobucket account? Or I can try to copy off from your account. The problem with linking to your account is that the Y&BC board is so busy that you quickly exceed the bandwith allocated. I had to upgrade to Photobucket Pro when I first took over the site and posted my photos here.

I have a section for the BC marketplace, so my thought is to post one or two photos, and provide a link for anyone who wants to see more.

Thanks, again!

Dee

pixarmom - Thanks for the great report. I'm checking in in 9 days and can hardly wait! Do you mind sharing how much your taxi fare was to O'hana? We have a meal planned there and I want to make sure I have budgeted correctly for everything. Thanks.

Merci

Early this year, Teena was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully, due to early detection from her annual mammogram, this was caught very early. The cancer is non-invasive at this time, very treatable and the prognosis is excellent! Teena said it was ok to share this information with everyone, especially since she has some important advice to give. Over the past few weeks, Teena has undergone many tests and has spoken to a number of doctors. She was really getting the runaround when she was seeing a doctor in a local hospital who was not a specialist in the field of breast cancer. She was receiving a lot of misinformation and confusing treatment suggestions, so she decided to get a second opinion at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville this past week. Although the hospital is significantly further from her home than the first hospital, she has been getting a much better response and encouraging news about her treatment plan. The Mayo Clinic even found that one of the pathology results that came back positive at her local hospital was in fact benign. She really wants to stress the importance of being comfortable with the doctor who is treating you and to see an expert/specialist if at all possible.

Teena will be visiting with her daughter in Las Vegas next week and when she returns, she will have a couple more visits to the Mayo for additional tests and retests, and surgery likely in mid-March.

I’m sure she would appreciate well-wishes as she goes through this process, but I know she is not looking for any sympathy or pity from anyone.

Thanks for listening and for your support!

sending you thoughts and prayers Teena...I am glad you have found someone you are comfortable with, hoping you have a wonderful visit with your daughter and a quick recovery

My thoughts and prayers to Teena...Have a great trip to visit your DD & I hope to come by and meet you in September!

Prayers to you Teena for a speedy recovery!!

I was looking through the thread and I may have missed it but what time do they do the campfire and movie at night? I am trying to plan our dinners and know our girls would love to do that one night.

Thanks in advance!

Haleofafamily- how many people? Pixarmom- did you need a van to get over there?

A single cab to the Poly (or to Contemporary) was around $15 plus tip. May be more for the van or if you need more than 1 cab.

Prayers to you Teena for a speedy recovery!!

When you check in, you will get a listing of the activities at the resort and times.

I think the times vary depending on the time of year. A sign posted from December said the movies start at 8 PM. I checked my guide from my July 2010 trip- campfire from 8 to 9 PM, movie at 9 PM.

The marshmallow roast is first, right? Always???

My prayers go out to you Teena. Nothing but good wishes and warm thoughts heading your way from here in the North.

Jay

Teena GOOD FOR YOU for finding other help. You get better quicly and you are in my thoughts and prayers!!! SEE YOU THIS SUMMER!!!

Teena you get better quickly. I know how hard it can be as my mom dealt with cancer last year. God's speed and we will be praying for you.

We are coming back in April/May time frame and I will see you then!

If there's anything we can bring you from California/Disneyland Resort please please please do not hesitate to PM me!

Well, I was going to stay at BC CL in May, but I just changed it to YC CL in May! So we will be going back to the YC and I can't wait! I love relaxing in the pool and drinking a sunken treasure. However, I might have to stop at the steak house there because the drinks look bigger. Anyway, add me to the list for May 15 -22 YC CL!

Thanks everyone for all the help you have given me over the last couple of years!

You have been added:thumbsup2

HI all!

Sending best wishes to Teena :goodvibes We did see her at the BC on Sunday, but since she's such a popular person - I never could catch her alone! Nice to put a face to the name though. Thinking of you, Teena! :)

We got back yesterday from the BC. I almost hesitate to write a full review, as it's not all positive. But, there are also positive things to say, so I'll be sure to say both!

Pros:
1) The staff were wonderful and VERY friendly.
2) The location of BC is absolutely fantastic for having access to Epcot. We loved being able to walk in and out of Epcot whenever we wanted, and arrive back at "home" within 5 minutes!
3) The location being so close to the boardwalk! We are avid Jellyrolls fans, and loved being able to walk there and not have to worry about how to catch a ride back home.
4) Our room was lovely, and the beds were very comfortable.
5) GREAT meal at Beaches & Cream! Our wonderful waitress even brought me an extra bowl of hot fudge for my sundae! :thumbsup2

Cons, but NOT BC's fault:
1) The weather was COOOLD. Even when bundled up, I was still too cold walking around once the sun went down.
2) I was sick with a bad cold for 3 of our 4 days
3) The movie on the beach was moved to the Solarium every night of our trip, so we never did get to enjoy a movie on the beach. The frigid temperatures were the cause.

Cons:
1) We did get a garden view room, but I didn't realize a garden view room also included views of trees with no leaves! LOL I didn't even know Florida trees lost their leaves this time of year, but the trees directly outside our room looked dead. I was really disappointed, as I was hoping to have a pretty garden view so I could sit out on the balcony.
2) There was a mistake when we checked in with our reservation. It took a few minutes to sort out, but when we walked into our room, we realized our room hadn't been made up properly (used soap in sink, dirt, hair in bed, etc..). We called the front desk, and they sent a housekeeper up about an hour later to change the sheets. No biggie, but not the welcome we wanted. LOL
3) On our warmest (and last) day of our trip, Storm Along Bay was closed due to mechanical problems. On the other days, only one jacuzzi tub worked properly, while one of the others was cold, and the jets didn't work on the 3rd. This was probably my most disappointing part of the trip. I only got to swim in Storm Along bay for about 15min. total due technical issues, weather and hot tubs not working (it was really cold, so I like having a hot tub to jump into to get warm).

Considering that our main purpose for staying here was for Stormalong Bay, I must admit to being disappointed in the trip in general. Now, I do admit that it's the risk you pay when you go in February. It just made it more difficult seeing how great the weather looked this coming week! Anyone know if the pool re-opened yet? The lifeguards we spoke to on the 13th weren't sure how long it would take to get the new parts needed for the pool. I'm not sure if I'll convince dh to stay here again. I don't think we really got to experience all that the Beach Club offers, but unless we get a great deal in the future, I doubt I'll be able to stay here again. :(

Thanks to everyone for all of your input these last few months. It sure made the planning process fun. Thinking warm thoughts for those of you going soon! :goodvibes
