Hello! First, I want to send my very best wishes to Teena for a smooth course over the next few months. I'm glad you are feeling more confident about the medical care/advice you are receiving. Keep up that positive attitude!

We're getting more and more excited about our first stay at the BC...just 2 nights March 18/19 before our Disney Dream cruise! Our twin boys (age 12) are happy because their favorite park is Epcot and they think it's great we'll be able to walk there. Easy transportation is key for us as one of our boys uses a wheelchair.

Between arrival time on Day 1 and the price of 1-2 day tickets, I think we'll only get 1 day at the parks, so Epcot it is. One of our sons is desperately disappointed about this...he'll really miss getting his Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Main St. Bakery chocolate cake fixes!

We're thinking of having dinner at Beaches & Cream on the first night. Any idea of better times to go to avoid the longest waits?

Thanks!

Welcome! We're staying at BC after our 3-night Disney Dream cruise and we think it's a great addition to the cruise! We're first time cruisers, so I'd love to hear about your trip when you return. Would you like for me to add you to the March BC/YC guest list?

We've only been to Beaches and Cream earlier in the day and in the later evening, so I don't have a suggestion about dinner times, but I'm sure the Beaches and Cream experts on this board can help!

Just checking in. We are going to be at BC March 21st-27th. We stayed last year at Spring Break and had a great time. We can't wait for this year too!!

Thanks Pixarmom & Creativeamanda! That did help. I'll leave it with a full balcony request, and hope it's not one of the ones that you have to stand up to see out :goodvibes

Can't wait for Aug at BC :yay:

We've been on hiatus from Disney since last April and it feels like forever.
Then came on to hear that one of my favorite people in the world (not just WDW) is battling a health issue. Teena, sending you all my good vibes and prayers. Just not fair.

So now I need to plan a trip and come down in August after Jeannie's baby is born and you are back.

I have found that if we go around 5 pm, we usually don't have too much of a wait. Any later than 5:15, the line starts to build up. This is a location that does not accept reservations so being a bit early, even 4:45, might be a good idea ;)

We got back Monday. Spent 4 nights at AKL and then last 3 nights at BC. DH still loves AKL, but did admit he liked the close proximity to Epcot and DHS. DD16 loved BC. AKL and BC are so completely different and I honestly don't know if I could pick a favorite, but I definitely loved BC. Rooms seemed larger, loved being able to walk to Epcot and DHS. As reported by others, SAB was down because of some sort of a problem so a little disappointed we didn't get to enjoy that, but oh well. We had a garden view room. The view was kind of "eh" - trees, which to me don't make a "garden" - but weren't we pleasantly surprised when we discovered we could see Illuminations fireworks from our room. The daytime view didn't matter once we realized for three nights we'd see fireworks from our room. Was thrilled our last day to meet Teena. What a wonderful woman. We didn't have a lot of time to spare because we were on our way to the airport, otherwise I'm sure we could have stood there and talked to her much longer. Teena, if you see this, I wish you the best as you deal with your health issues. I cannot say enough about how nice you were to talk with. I wish I could talk to you every time I needed a Disney fix.

First of all, I wish Teena the best with her grandbaby (I think it's her grandbaby) and her surgery. I just spent the last hour or so skimming this entire thread.

I'm happy to say that we will be at the World in April! We will be at BCV from April 1 - 10. It is our first stay after becoming DVC members!! My daughter and I are thrilled and are counting down the days.. Ellie because she's 7 and me because I'm in my first year of being a middle school principal and can't wait to get out of town! My son is 16 and I'm afraid Disney is starting to lose it magic...my husband just puts up with my obsession once every few years.

Thank you for this wonderful board. I will be visiting it again and again for the next 43 days...2 hours.. and 50 minutes!

You can't miss me. I'm the old lady standing in the BC lobby on Sundays and Mondays (when I'm not at Jeanne's or on a cruise) wearing dressed in a naval suit. Rumor has it they are designing a new costume for me ... more like in the early 20's ... hopefully not something too crazy. They mentioned a hat and umbrella too.

:lmao:

Early this year, Teena was diagnosed with breast cancer. Thankfully, due to early detection from her annual mammogram, this was caught very early. The cancer is non-invasive at this time, very treatable and the prognosis is excellent! Teena said it was ok to share this information with everyone, especially since she has some important advice to give. Over the past few weeks, Teena has undergone many tests and has spoken to a number of doctors. She was really getting the runaround when she was seeing a doctor in a local hospital who was not a specialist in the field of breast cancer. She was receiving a lot of misinformation and confusing treatment suggestions, so she decided to get a second opinion at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville this past week. Although the hospital is significantly further from her home than the first hospital, she has been getting a much better response and encouraging news about her treatment plan. The Mayo Clinic even found that one of the pathology results that came back positive at her local hospital was in fact benign. She really wants to stress the importance of being comfortable with the doctor who is treating you and to see an expert/specialist if at all possible.

Teena will be visiting with her daughter in Las Vegas next week and when she returns, she will have a couple more visits to the Mayo for additional tests and retests, and surgery likely in mid-March.

I’m sure she would appreciate well-wishes as she goes through this process, but I know she is not looking for any sympathy or pity from anyone.

Thanks for listening and for your support!

Just found this forum a few days ago, because we are coming in Aug. Trying to read thru the 30+ pages and just came across this thread.

:grouphug: Sorry Teena to hear about your diagnosis, and all the difficulty getting accurate info.

From someone whos' been there, I can sympathize with what your going thru. I think the not knowing is the worst part.

This May I will be 14 yrs cancer free. Best of luck with your surgery, and hope to see you in August.

Having a great time with Jeanne! Super tired ... she keeps me running. The kids start their testing today. I've graded so many papers so far I actually had a dream about grading papers last night.

This morning when Jeanne woke up she had a "bump" and her pants would not button. It starts! You know where we will be all weekend - shopping!

I'm feeling great and actually anxious to get back to Florida and get going with the Mayo Clinic. I talked to my surgeon's scheduler and nurse before heading to the airport on Tuesday and they've got me scheduled for all kinds of stuff on 3/2. One of the tests they have to redo from when I had it done in January ... and they said something about I'll be sedated. I said, "what? I wasn't sedated for that test here." They said, "Industry standards say you are sedated for this test." Add that to the list of mistreatments!

Off to school .....

Teena, I'm so glad you will be treated at Mayo Clinic. Such good advice you shared with everyone.

So funny about your dreams. As a former school teacher, I can relate.

Exciting news about Jeanne. Happy shopping.

pixarmom, loved your detail report. Thanks for sharing it with us.:grouphug:

natebenma, have a lovely trip! :beach:

I am so excited! I booked my first BC stay for June 7 - June 11. It will also be my first split stay. My sister and I are staying June 3-7 at the WL.

What a wonderful thread this has been to read. Everyone is so friendly and helpful which will be great as I start to have questions prior to my stay.

Hello all,

My DH and I are looking forward to our stay at BC in October. We would like to visit the BW and were wondering if there is any place we can just sit and have a drink without ordering food?

TIA
