I have a thought that, while not necessarily related to the Beach Club thread, I will find a way to relate it to said thread.

The thought is what is the Peanut going to call Teena and Bob when HE (I voted for a Prince!) starts to talk?

Down South you have your Mee Maws and Paw-Paws but we all know T & B escaped from Jersey so that won't work. Contrary to popular belief, Grand parents in New Jersey are not called Tomato and To-mah-to.

In my family we have Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop who are my Mom and Dad. Evan pretty much picked this one as he couldn't say "Grand Mom" and it just kept popping out as Mom-Mom. I have been know to refer to my Mom as "old Biddy" but she doesn't like that too much and I always get yelled at, so that won't work!

Karl's Mom and Dad were Opa and Oma, which is German. That was easy for a child to say so that is a good choice. When Oma went to heaven eventually we were blessed with Nanny and Opa. Now it's Just Nanny, which is what I called my Grand Mother when I was a kid..... so 2 points for the Nanny name.

I'm sure there are a million other choices so I have no idea what Teena, Bob and Jeanne are thinking. The one thing I am 100% sure on is that just thinking about all this can put a smile on your face. Just think, before you know it, some little angel will be down from heaven and running around in a diaper yelling ________ and ________ when Teena and Bob walk through the door!

So Teena, have you come up with a name yet or are you going to let the baby pick?

Jeanne announced immediately after announcing she was pregnant that whether we liked it or not, Peanut was calling us Nanny and Pop-Pop. That's what she called my parents. She said there was to be no discussion. It was final. However, all the kids at the elementary school called me Grandma.

Hopefully Peanut will listen but sometimes it is funnier to hear what they come up with. We wanted Grandma and Grandpa for my parents (ILs are Nana and Papa) but my DD had other ideas. And months of trying to get her to say Grandma she decided Grammy works, but for my dad he is Puck. Now how she got Puck from Grandpa, we will never know. It has stuck, so now we have Grammy and Puck. No matter what, Peanut is going to be one loved little nut!

Sweet, beautiful, wonderful Ms. Teena whom I love and adore… I think that is what I will have my kids say to Teena when they see her next (they saw her last year, but as teens, they stood back as their crazy mother got excited to see someone she only knew on the boards). I barely said hi last year but maybe I’ll run up and huge her this year.

Thanks everyone for keeping me very entertained as I try to patiently wait for 1) maybe free dining and 2) our trip back late August… Dreaming of sand under my feet in the pool.

Quick question: I know there is some rehab going on at BC (outside painting, etc.) .. are there plans to do this at YC or will the YC be affected at all?

Hi, all! We are booked for a BC GV CL room as the final part of our split stay (6 nights ASMu and 3 nights BC). Give me your 100% HONEST opinion of how easy/hard it will be to manage the 4 kids at Stormalong Bay? I heard someone on another thread alude to the "fear mongers" that make all of us parents think we are going to lose our kids at SAB!

My kids ARE young.....2, 5, 8, 9. My 9 year old is a fairly strong swimmer but the rest of them are not. We normally stick very close together in the pools. I'll be right with them. They are not at all adventurous. Am I going to be able to relax in the pool or will I be a nervous wreck? We are looking for a peaceful end to our trip!

Please give me your honest opinion!

Those Disney lifeguards don't mess around. As a former lifeguard I always watch to see who is watching the water and the folks in it and I can tell you that it is rare to see one of the Disney guards not paying 100% attention to their responsibilities. There are also many lifeguards at each pool so that no area goes unwatched. That being said, it is the responsibility of the parents to supervise their children in the water. With such an age range I recommend taking turns so that the older kids can have a turn in the areas of the pool that work for them while the little ones sit out with you on the deck of the pool.

If you look at the labeled map of Storm Along Bay on page 1 of this thread you will see that storm along bay has some very manageable areas that will meet the needs of all of your kids. The Sand Bar area is ideal for sand toy play so stock up at the dollar store with some sand toys that the kids have picked out for the trip. Aside from the usual buckets and shovels, my Son used to love playing with those larger (and smaller) plastic cars at the beach. If packing sand toys is a concern see page one for details about mailing a package via the US Post office directly to the hotel to be held by bell services until your arrival. I plan on purchasing pool noodles and mailing them down to the resort ( in a big box marked spaghetti ).

Keep in mind that you can bring your own noodles or purchase them at the pool along with a very limited selection of sand toys. You can rent rafts but you can not bring your own to the pool as the rafts must be clear (see through) for safety concerns. Life jackets are also available at no charge for use by children and adults.

I'm not sure about the depth of the water in the kiddie slide area so perhaps one of the other posters can fill you in.

I think the key here is taking turns, having sand toys that will engage the kids, using the life jackets and perhaps splitting the kids up between you and your spouse, based on swimming ability.

You will do just fine so try not to worry. Disney pools are about as safe as it gets with respect to the jobs that the life guards do.

I have 2 boys who are older than yours, 9 and 12, both excellent swimmers, so I don't think I can really address your question about how easy it is to monitor kids at the younger ages, but I did want to offer a suggestion.

I always put my kids in swim shirts. A t-shirt will work, but we usually use water-wicking sports shirts. Buy 4 in the same color, preferably a bright one (yellow is best, but red is good too). Shirts like this will add some protection from the sun as well as make it easier to know exactly where the kids are with a quick glance.

Please note- I am neither endorsing or condeming the use of matching t-shirts in a theme park setting. That's a whole 'nuther ball of wax. (Matching dancing bananas)

Plus what Marlton Mom said about a lot of great places at the pool for little ones. And yes, older kids and adults are permitted to use the kiddie slide. I'm not sure of the pool depth there, I didn't even know the about the kiddie slide behind the entrance to the big slide until after I returned from my second trip to the Beach Club.

My apologies to all of you who are waiting with baited breath for Dee's mathematical magic, I am not going to post any additional room information about the club level room types than has already been given on the thread.

The information is really not necessary for anyone who is trying to maximize the enjoyment of their upcoming vacation- the original advice on this thread still remains:

Book the room and view category that will make you happy.

Figure out what the most important request(s) to your family for a room are.

Limiting the requests you have will increase the chances that your requests can be met.

Don't do on-line checkin if you prefer the flexibility to inquire about whether it is possible to change the room you were assigned to one that meets your needs more closely.

And... It doesn't hurt to believe in pixie dust

i think if they are not adventurous and not good swimmers they will enjoy the sandy kids area...my youngest doesnt want to leave there. last summer he was 4(not adventurous or a good swimmer) he didnt like the kiddy slide, he could stand in the water over there though(if that helps). My then 9 year old and his cousin loved the sinking sands area where they do the pool games in the afternoon and of course the big slide. you cannot see these areas from the kiddy zero entry area.

Oh sheesh! I'm feeling like a bad mom. This was the year I told the boys that they could probably venture off on their own at SAB. They will be 11 & 10 and both excellent swimmers. I really did feel confident that should there be any real problem, a life guard would be handy. I'm not comfortable, of course with my then 7-year-old daughter alone. No way, no how.

That doesn't mean that I will just let the boys go and not look for them. But I know they'll be enjoying the slide and other places of the pool that I thought that bit of independence would be good for them.

Okay, I'm ready for the slams, comments, suggestions, praises... LOL...

I really did feel confident that should there be any real problem, a life guard would be handy. I'm not comfortable, of course with my then 7-year-old daughter alone. No way, no how.

That doesn't mean that I will just let the boys go and not look for them. But I know they'll be enjoying the slide and other places of the pool that I thought that bit of independence would be good for them.

Last summer we traveled with SIL and family. We let my DS-9 and her DS-10 do the slide and hang out doing the pool games at sinking sands while most of the adults were in the shallow kids area with my DS-4. They are both good swimmers. i agree the lifeguards really are very attentive and there are alot of them at SAB.

No slams from me. DD1 is 13, DD2 is 12 and DS is 10. We let them venture out pretty much on their own. We are usually on a lounge chair or
in a certain area of the pool and check up on them every so often. They are good swimmers, they know their way around SAB like the back of their hand and they know to check in.

No, there are only 5 garden view club level rooms over there so your hand would probably be worse.

SAB is simply too big to keep an eye on more than one person at a time unless your boy's would enjoy digging in the sand with the 7 yr old.

My reccomendation is have them find you every 1/2 hr or so. I've done the wandering around where the heck are you walk.
