Please help me decide where to stay for our early October F&W stay! I truly can't make up my mind. The cost is the exact same. DH has no opinion and mine flips constantly. Help!!!

In reading your post, I think you pretty much answered your own question. I'm a "dark side" guy but it sounds to me like you are headed for a BC-CL stay, close to elevator and lobby. Enjoy the planning.

Congratulations Doccoc2002. Here's hoping the answers you get today are more good news. YC-CL is my goal for when I grow up. My two YC stays with LV were great but one of these days I want to see what it's like to live like the rich and famous.

Speaking of the rich and famous, TeenaS the upcoming January cruise sounds wonderful. Hope you and Bob really enjoy yourselves. Let's see, eleven days starting on January 23, sounds like an on-board SuperBowl party to me. Hope you have a good time with Jeanne next week. Got ours coming home from LV for a wedding shower party this weekend.

Please help me decide where to stay for our early October F&W stay! We know we want to do BC or YC, and are looking at CL at both.

A good problem to have! I don't think you can go wrong with either choice based on the info you have provided. Katesdad's advice was excellent, I was just going to post the same thing- ask for a room close to the elevator/lounge (same thing), which will also give you a room most convenient to the lobby, so that will cut down on walking through the hallways.

Just upgraded to CL!!!!
So we will be staying CL at YC Sept 20th-28th :banana::banana:
I can't wait...it is going to be a surprise to DH & the kids...I am not going to tell him, we already decided not to tell the kids. They know where we be staying but they don't know when.:cloud9: I can't believe I did it. Our first trip to YC and we are staying CL for the first time and I will be a breast cancer survivor too:woohoo::cheer2:
I think we need it after our summer adventure in the Hospital...Still waiting for news from biopsy. I should hear something tomorrow.
Thank you everyone for your kind wishes, thoughts & prayers.
Awesome! Absolutely deserving and totally cool it's a secret! But what's it worth to you for me to keep your secret.... :rolleyes1

I totally know how you feel. Bob just told me today to book a LONG cruise to somewhere "different" to celebrate "us" being breast cancer survivors too -- honestly it is just as hard on the hubby!! So tonight I booked a cruise on January 23rd for 11 nights to Panama, Costa Rico, Columbia, Belize and a few other places. Oh, we'll be on a few Disney cruises before then but that will be the celebration cruise ... we booked a suite with butler service and plan on being spoiled rotten! We did the same suite for our Celebrity Alaska cruise two summers ago and we felt like royalty. Can't wait.

Wow! So sweet .... guess I'm speechless. (for once)

Natebenma and Teena - Another mission for you , if you choose to accept it !

How many gv cl, sv cl and lv cl rooms have both a full balcony and a day bed?

doccoc and Teena...... :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

This is like one of those nasty logic problems from school.

Jane has a yellow lollipop and is standing next to Emmy who has either a red or blue lollipop. Nicole is not standing next to Emmy or Jane. What is Jane's middle name???

Once again, I will offer my services to the Beach Club to go in and personally inspect every room in CL or otherwise, but I'm still waiting to hear from them!

Yesterday I quoted information regarding the number of rooms of each type in cl and the rooms I believe do not have full balconies. I have the number of daybeds for the regular rooms (if that info is even correct), but not for CL.

Teena- are you able to provide the view info for the 8 rooms I listed?

Do you know if these rooms have daybeds or not, and/or do you know the number of rooms in each category with daybeds.

Given this information, I think I could answer Robyn's questions.

I will "PM" you the room numbers and to see if you have the info that would help Robyn out.

I don't know how to "bold" some text, but the line "What is Jane's middle name?" cracked me up!

I really don't have much to say...I just wanted to "bump" our thread back to the top, as it was sliding down the page...OH NO!

I guess I'm....

1. Looking forward to our stay in August

2. Looking forward to meeting Teena

3. Grateful for all of the advice on the threads

4. Happy to be planning a trip to WDW

That is all.

I don't know that YC has those kind of sensors BUT if a room does, then I always purchase a balloon and put it near the ac air vent so that it bobs and sways in the breeze. That is usually enough for the motion detection unit (Which is separate from the AC unit!) to sense that someone is in the room (Mr. Balloon!) and keep the air on.

Mwa ha ha!

Marlton Mom, whose sign is "Keep refrigerated!!!"

You know, I don't know if they do because the last time I was there (Dec. 2010) we were running HEAT instead of air. But I'll share this with you, something I pulled off this thread last year and took with me just in case I needed it (WHICH I NEVER DID!!!!)

HOW TO BYPASS Thermostat SENSOR:
On the thermostat push the power button and the down arrow (that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time. If you do this correctly there will be the letters "bp" where the temp numbers usually are. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it or not. You might have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode after 24 hours.

Thanks for the replies. I have heard of these techniques, but I also heard that each resort is different and they don't always work. For example, the thermostat bypass works at CSR, but the YC might have a different thermostat. Anyway, I'm hoping the thermostat is like CSR and I can bypass it. If not, I pray the ballon trick will work.

Congratulations of the CL! The YC/BC CL has some of the best CMs on property. We have stayed at other CL and YC/BC made us feel special and went out of their way to help us. Plus they were super friendly!

At the BC, at the present time (remember, they are talking about reclassifying some rooms), there are five standard view club level rooms with standing balconies. Of those five, three have two queens and a daybed, one has a king and one has one queen and a daybed. There are no garden view club level standing balconies. There are three water view club level standing balconies and one has a king bed and two have two queens and a daybed. However, a party of five cannot book a water view club level room.

Thank you! I hope I'm there when you are and not off with Jeanne getting her classroom set up and for the first week of school.

Teena, What week won't you be at Beach Club? We will be arriving Aug 11-17.

And I'm SOOO jealous of your planned cruise!!! You definitely deserve it ! How sweet of Bob to suggest you plan something to celebrate!

Continued prayers:grouphug: from New Jersey!!

Please reconsider running the A/C while you are not in the room. We've stayed at the BC during an unusually hot period in early October 2009 and the room cooled very quickly. We rested great! :thumbsup2 Basically, running the A/C during the day won't be necessary as it cools off quickly and it would be a total waste. A/C uses a lot of electricity. Not only is there an environmental impact from using A/C, and a waste if someone is not in the room, but I'm sure the bean counters at Disney are including electricity costs into their formulas.

I fly out to Jeanne's on August 23rd and fly home September 3rd.

Thank you!!! I just had my CT scan at the radiation place this morning. I start radiation on 4/25.

Oh, no. You misunderstand. The point of balloons or bypassing the motion sensor on the thermostat, is so that the AC remains on while we are in the room sleeping. There are a lot of us that hate waking up a sweaty mess. Especially those of us that have showered before bed, so we can make it to rope drop in the AM. :thumbsup2

Thanks for your environmental reminder!!!

I think the original question was prompted by concerns that the air conditioning would shut off during the night if nobody is up and about to set off the motion sensors.

Option number 3, in addition to the balloon or overriding the thermostat is to nudge your husband several times during the night and ask him to walk across the room to activate the air conditioning. :lmao:

I honestly can't remember if this was a problem during our two July stays at the Beach Club, so I am guessing that it is not an issue.

I agree with you that it is best not to run the A/C in a room that will be empty for most of the day.
