2010 news from the Magic

We picked the dates for 7/18/10 but we change to 7/6/10 as my husband want see Helsinki, Finland.

So we have to saving up harder for 20 months and drop the Cat 6 to Cat 9!!

We don't need the flight as we might take the coach or train.

We'll be in Cat 9s as well. Hope to see you there! :goodvibes

Anyone for the Baltic June 12 - I started a thread on the meets board so we can get to know each other better.

Too far for us to go! Guess I'll be doing something else.
The town of Warnemunde is so nice. There is a huge beach there and it was very clean when we were there in July. I'm so looking forward to going back here, it was the most relaxing day we had on our Baltics cruise in July.
We thought about taking the train to Rostock, but we were enjoying Warnemunde too much to leave.

Sounds great! Thanks

Okay... I know we aren't suppose to worry about transfers but if I'm reading this correctly it is a 2 hour train ride from London to Dover. Is that correct? How much does it cost each way to travel by train? My next question is if I had a 2:30 pm flight out of Heathrow to home would I make it from Dover or would I have to stay one more night? We stayed one more night after our Med. cruise and we were just too exhausted to do anything. In fact my kids fell asleep on the double decker tour we took. So, extending the trip is a cost I'd like to avoid. What do all think???

Thanks,
Tina
We took the National Express Bus from Victoria Station in London to Dover. It was about $50. for the 3 of us and took about 2¾ hours since it is a public bus system. I booked it online and it was very easy to do. I think the train would have cost us around $120. each way and private transfers would have run us upwards of $250+.

As long as you get a transfer that leaves the port by 9:00 you will be fine with a 2:30 flight. We had a 4:00 flight out of Heathrow this past July and we were at the airport by 10:15. It was a long wait at the airport, but I'd rather sit there than be sitting on the M25 worrying about making the flight. We took Carnival transfers from the Port of Dover to Heathrow so we didn't have to worry about doing any transfers on the National Express bus or the train.

So, if I understand it correctly, these cruises will be available to book at the same time as the others on the 14th?

Also, even though we do not now the pricing yet, has Disney done these
cruises before and maybe someone would provide previous prices, just to have an idea?

Does anyone know how far Berlin is from the port that DCL is going to in Germany?

I was researching just a little last night. Other posters on other boards quote 3 hours to Berlin. So 6 hours for a 12 hour port stay is spent on a train. Hope Disney offers an excursion. Wouldn't want to risk missing the ship by going off to Berlin on our own.

For anyone interested in July 6th Baltic, I also started a thread in the cruise meets...Pounds to Rubles. There are two threads for the 6th now. Check out both!!:)

That is what we are being told. October 14 for all of 2010 but land and seas.

They will offer PLENTY of excursions! If they offer the "Berlin on your own" tour, then that will include your transportation to/from Berlin. Then you get to sightsee on your own in town.

The train station is right next to where the ship docks in Warnemunde. At least there is no time wasted traveling to/from the local train station in Warnemunde.

I have looked at the 8 night Dover to Barcelona and I think it might be doable. The Baltic is just too expensive with airfare, excursions, etc. The pricing for 8 night cruise is a mystery however, it states starting at $2139/pp. I assume this is for the lowest priced Cat. How would you get an idea on price for a Cat 6, or how much for 3rd and 4th person? Do I have to wait until the 14th to get an answer? This is frustrating because I would at least like a ballpark figure. Are we supposed to call at 8am on the 14th and instantly make a decision based on the very vague info we have so far? How do you all decide?

Lorraine, This is the cruise I'm looking at also.
I want to add an Adventures by Disney to it. Those won't be out until August! Argh. Anyone's thoughts on what will still be available by then? I want to use DVC points for both. (Don't ask, we have way too many points).
Do the DVC points used for cruises tend to sell out quickly?

Deb

thank you so much. I must be computer challenged because I find the DCL site hard to get around. This tells me it would be about $10,996 to $14,796 for 4 in a Cat. 6. Since there is only 1 cruise date it means I have to book right away to get the lower price, right? thanks again
