Well, you have my curiosity peaked...can't wait to see the pictures ;)

Amanda, ohamanda, is our person of the day today (Friday). :yay:

Introduce your family, your likes, dislikes, jobs, or whatever you want to talk about. Then we can all ask you a few questions and you can spend the day answering us.

Today is Day 4 in the countdown to Reveal day!

Todays general question is:

Today we are going to discuss Hidden Mickeys. Tell us when you first learned about them, where your favorite one is located, and then share something special about finding hidden Mickeys

My special question for Amanda is: I see you do Operation Christmas Shoe boxes too. Do you find that you add many Disney themed objects to your boxes? This year our area has gone to pre-printed boxes that we must fill instead of our own shoe boxes or plastic. They are too small for my liking but I am trying to conform!

Kathie, Suzannah, Kaylene, AmandaNC, Marc, Dannee, Jonas, Gloria, and Sue. of you are welcome to answer too you know.

Suzannah, I am sorry to hear about your DH's job. I understand completely! My DH lost his job almost two years ago now and although he is now employed he is underemployed and working at multiple minimum wage jobs instead of one descent job. The economy in our area is very bad and normal jobs are just not to be had right now. I pray your DH has better fortune with his job search!
Hi Everyone! It is Marc again! I just had to post something on the topic of the day because Hidden Mickey's are one of my most three favorite things at Walt Disney World!

First a little Bio on me: I am a single Father with a 12 year old son named Josiah (He just turned 12 yesterday). We began to take vacations to Walt Disney World in September of 2007 and have been back every year since then. We usually go to Disney in late August to take advantage of the Free Dining Offer and we stay in a Value Resorts to save some money (we do not spend too much time in the room because there is too much to do & see at Disney :-)

I did not even know about Hidden Mickey's on my first trip to Disney with my son in September of 2007. Then before our second Disney trip together in August of 2008 I found Steve Barrett's Hidden Mickey Book (the 3rd Edition) and read the whole thing cover to cover. I was out to find some Hidden Mickey's on this trip and I was armed with my camera to take pictures of the ones that I found. I need to mention that I am an amateur photographer and I probably take way too many pictures especially when I am at Disney! :-) My son really started getting into hunting for Hidden Mickey's on that trip and he actually found a totally new one on the Sea Raycer Boats that we rented from the Poly. We submitted it to Steve Barrett and he put it on his website!
Here is that photo of the Hidden Mickey on the Sea Raycer Boat Dashboard:

Here are some more photos of my favorite Hidden Mickey's:
On the Tiles at the Sushi Bar near Kona Cafe at the Poly:

On the Carpets at the Poly:

On the Dalmatian at the Lego Store in Downtown Disney:

This is one of my favorites--I snapped it at the exact perfect moment while watching Wishes from the Beach of the Poly:

This next one has been the most difficult one to photograph and I still need to try to get a better less blurry picture! It is the Hidden Mickey on the Golf Ball on Soar'n at Epcot:

So I actually got to meet Steve Barrett at Mousefest 2008 and go on a Hidden Mickey Tour around Crescent Lake (Boardwalk and Beach Club Resort areas) with about 50 other fellow Mousefester's. It was incredible and memorable. I took a ton of pictures!

Then on my last trip to Disney with my son this last August I was privileged to to go on a once in a lifetime Personal 4 hour Tour with Steve Barrett Himself around Epcot looking for Hidden Mickey's! I had won this at MagicMeets in Lou Mongello's Dream Team Auction for Make a Wish! There are no words to describe what this experience was like! Here is a photo of Steve Barrett, my son Josiah, and I at the beginning of our tour where we started which was the Camera Shop near Spaceship Earth at Epcot:

Here is a picture of where we ended 4 hours later in Mexico:

My son & I had such an awesome time and it will be in our memories forever! :-)
I took hundreds of photos along the tour.

So I hope that now everyone understands my passion for Hidden Mickeys! If we are ever in the Parks together I promise to show you some Hidden Mickeys. I love to give Tours for a small fee (hint I never charge anything :-)
I look forward to getting to know more people on here!

Keep Dreaming Big!

Hey Marc,

Fabulous pictures ~ I especially love the one of the Mickey-shaped Firework from the beach @ The Polynesian! :cloud9: We watched the fireworks from there for the 1st time just this past September & just LOVED it!!

Your DS looks just like you! :goodvibes

Oh....and :welcome: to the DIS!!!!! :yay:

What wonderful photos, Marc!!! :) I enjoyed each of them, and have a hard time choosing a favorite. I do :lovestruc the firework one though :)

Josiah is a handsome boy ( I love his name, by the way). :) He looks a lot like his Dad, and I think it's so special that you two have each other and can make Disney memories together.

:)

Just wanted to update people not following me on twitter, that we got some good news today, DH's book proposal that he put in for a few months ago got approved today. So he'll be writing his 8th tech book now. He gets a little advance to write the books, and given yesterday's news, the timing couldn't be better. Hopefully this is the first of many good new things for him. :goodvibes

Thank you to everyone for their continued support and good thoughts!

Back to the topic at hand! :)

:dance3:That's great news!

Marc: THOSE ARE AWESOME. My faves are finding the Hidden Mickeys in the carpet...I mean, who's the Carpet Imagineer?!

Anyway, I have to ask---your FIRST trip to Disney was in 2007 and you are in the 3rd round of the Mom's Panel in 2009? How did you go from NO-DISNEY to DISNEY-FANATIC? I wanna know more! :)

Oh, this is just wonderful news!!! YAY for You!!

marc -- thanks for sharing the photos! I hadn't seen the HM in the Poly carpet nor the Seadoos.

I can only imagine how exciting that HM tour was. Very cool!

I also want to hear about your Disney transformation! My DH likes Disney but he'd never sign up to be on the mom's panel. I think it's so cool when a father is the planner for Disney (well, cool when it's another family ... I still want to do the planning in our family. I enjoy it too much to give it up!:rotfl:

Here is one of my favorite HM. It's in the 1BR at BCV.

I posted it a little larger than normal so you can be sure to see the HM.

Amanda,
The 3 trips that I mentioned were the first trips that I had taken to Disney with my son. I had been to Disney twice as a child with my family. I also went to Disney on My Senior Trip and my Honeymoon as well but I really didn't catch the "Disney Bug" until the first trip with my son! There is something about seeing Disney through your child's eyes that changes you inside. I will never be the same after that trip and I started falling in love with Disney ever since then. I did all the planning for that 2007 Disney trip and the more I found out about Disney the more I wanted to know and it has only gotten bigger since. I also went to Mousefest in Dec 2008 and I have been to Disneyland 3 times (once with my son). I also attended the D23 Expo this September in CA (that was an amazing adventure!). I am going to the Mousefan Reunion land portion this December 10th to 14th as well. So you can see that I definitely have caught the "Disney Bug"!

I actually become the biggest "kid" when I am at Disney! That Disney commercial with the Father becoming a kid with his son at Disney is so me when I am at the Parks! :-)

Disney is more than a hobby to me it is my "Happy Place" :-)

Keep Dreaming Big!
Marc Lorenzo
