2010 Mom's Panel Results along with lists of Round 2 & 3 Participants

What great job selections so far. Now how exactly do we convince Disney to hire us? :confused3

I would enjoy the event planning too. I am good at that stuff and I too love to organize everything for a trip.

I am working on a laid back trip for this November and December. It is really hard to not organize every little thing. My extended family is requesting this. I hope they are ready for some down time. I do not need bored over 90 year old parents! :rotfl:

I have agreed to scale back quite a bit. So far I have picked the park for each day and the dinner. I have great ADR's and I have the meal plan credits planned out. But everything else is left unplanned. I have no photo appointments, no matching personally designed ironed on sweatshirts, no programs for each day (all printed like a greeting card with the days agenda on them), no special plans for evenings like Cirque or Hoop Dee Doo; just the basics. I am really hoping I am not making a mistake by listening to everyone else.:rotfl:

The reasons we are slowing down this year are: DD is pregnant and will be over 5 months along, my dad just had surgery and is running a bit slow for his normal 95 year old self, my over 90 year old mother is slowing down just a little bit, plus I just had two surgeries and I am fighting to get my strength back too. We all so need this trip! :goodvibes

Some detail planner like me, please tell me that slowing down and planning less will still make for a wonderful trip!

Oh, Twende...you will be so happy that you planned this way!!! I am a ridiculous oooober-planner & did that our first 2 trips to WDW. For our trip last month, all I planned only a TS dinner for each night & what park to go to for that day. We had 2 evening events (MNSSHP & Cirque) & that was it. We had a 10-day trip. It was completely amazing! The night we went to MNSSHP, we kicked around the treehouse pool all day, didn't even go anywhere! :cloud9: Gets me all excited just thinking about it now because it was so wonderful to take it all in at a nice slow pace!! OMG!! :yay:

You'll totally love it! And you even have room to totally change your mind if you want to about where to go in the mornings! I threw in a couple of breakfast reservations just in case we wanted to eat out & we ended up canceling one & we used the other one ~ it was awesome!!! :lovestruc

Well, I already posted my Cast Member history, but I would go back in a heartbeat. I think I'd still love to be on Main Street because it really is such an exciting part of the Magic Kingdom.

Of course my dream job would be doing special events or public relations in some way too, I think it'd be so cool to be spreading the Disney magic to others.

Another fun thing would be setting off the fireworks for Illuminations. It must be hard work, but probably looks really cool from that perspective as well!

I wanted to post a brief update on my daughter. She is doing better, but can't seem to get rid of the fever. The fever is now on the low side and her appetite is poor, but she is staying hydrated. Praises that her asthma is staying away.:cool1: Hopefully it won't be too much longer. Now I and my son are both sick, but our symptoms are not as severe as hers.

I wanted to thank each and every one of you who took the time to send :littleangel:prayers and positive thoughts our way. It's refreshing to know that there are "strangers" out there who would do such a nice act of kindness for others. I am so thankful to be a tiny part of such an interesting and fun group of people. I am still cheering for all of the 2nd rounders, and can't wait to see who moves on.:cheer2:

My dream job is simple. I would love to escort Mickey and Minnie around in the parks as they do character greetings. Then I would get to enjoy the magic of watching the faces of all the kids as they get to meet them for the first time. Ahhh.....

I'm so glad to hear that your DD is doing a little better! You poor things - sorry you are all sick now! Hang in there!

Great Question Twende!!

Ok, I have an answer but... Y'all may think I'm strange!!! I'd love to design and build the store window displays! I'd have access to all the behind the scenes props, all the merchandise of the world... and I'd harness the creativity of constantly changing holidays & celebrations into those displays!! That'd be a BLAST! :goodvibes

I don't think you're strange at all!! When I worked on Main Street I always loved the displays and wanted to do them too!! I LOVED when they had the Princess doll displays that made a big dress out of the dolls! They moved that same idea to WoD last time I checked, not sure if it's still there or not. Anyway, I, too, think that'd be great fun!! :rotfl:

SO glad she is feeling a little better...hope the fever breaks soon, those are so scary! :(

OT: I'm now a Mouseketeer! :cheer2: :woohoo: :dance3: :rotfl:

RE: Disney job.

I'd work in their IT department, so I could overhaul their web sites. I'd like more functional than flashy.

Ohhh! I am right there with you alamode! I am a project manager in the online banking arena and I would love to work for Disney as a PM in their website division. (As long as I could be FL or work from home here in Texas.) I think they need to do a customer / user group study! I would volunteer!

The event planning would be a blast too! I love planning events and parties down to the last minute detail.

I think it would be fun being a greeter at one of the hotels, handing out Mickey stickers to all the kids as they begin or end their vacation.

Oh! Or being a photographer that works with 'The Boss'. Just imagine getting to see all the kids, little and big, and their reactions as they meet Mickey and Minnie on a daily basis!

Alamode!

Drop them a note! If you actually could improve their net operations, that would be a much needed and valuable service! Of course, first you have to convince them that they stink at it so far! But, if you show that, that is your application and hiring point right there!

I knew a woodcarver from LONGGGGGGGG ago- came over from Europe- classically trained woodcarver (which means you learned to be a cabinet maker and sculptor first- and add in a bit of antique training. Anyway, he went to the National Park Service, and convinced them their buildings were all dull adn the same and not appealing at all- told them they needed some location- defining woodcarvings. He convinced them, and they said okay, go ahead! He is responsible in large part for every display and 'decoration' you see at the National Parks!

So go show them why they need net help!

:)

Now that is a great distraction, Penny!! Can you please fill us in on your trip? Where are you staying, what parks will you visit, ADR's, etc....we can live vicariously through you on your trip!! Oh, to live so close to be able to visit WDW for a weekend trip....ahhhhh, that sounds wonderful. But I'm afraid I would melt for 3/4 of the year. I hate to be hot so often!

Lisa, I love being so close and my friends always tease us about going so often, but we have such a wonderful time. We usually find that we go atleast once a year for a week long trip and then try to get over there for a weekend trip once every couple of months.

We are staying at our home resort, Saratoga Springs. We are taking our 6yr old granddaughter (she lives in Jacksonville, about 90 miles to the north of us). She's out of school Monday, so we decided to take her with us from Friday and leave to take her home Monday afternoon. So, we will be starting out at one of her favorite resturants, Whispering Canyon. She thinks it's so funny when they holler for the ketcup and she can take it to the other tables. Then Saturday, we want to take her to Epcot for the Kidcot stuff as she loves to do that and hasn't been able to for awhile, plus we will have a chance to take part in the Food and Wine festival (minus the wine part LOL). Then in the late afternoon over to the Magic Kingdom for some character interaction at the Crystal Palace, she really loves it there too (of course I don't know of many places she doesn't love) and then we will finish our day at the park. Sunday, we will probably do Hollywood Studios and then the Beirgarten (spl?) for dinner, she loves to dance there. Depending on what time we're done, we may go to the Wilderness Campground for the Chip & Dale Campfire Sing-a-long, we usually play by ear what/where to go. We like go to Animal Kingdom on our last day at the parks, as it's her favorite. She loves animals. It's so nice living so close and having annual passes, because we never feel we have to "rush" to get alot done. We always just take our time and enjoy things as they come. Unless of course it's one of our weeklong vacations and then we seem to plan things a little more.

Thanks for asking about the trip Lisa......wasn't going to bore everyone with plans from our weekend trip as they're not as exciting as a longer trip. :)

As I said before though, what a way to keep my mind off of next week's results and the waiting game. I will miss the "waiting room" as I'm not sure I'll have my laptop or not this weekend.

Here is the Day Two Waiting Day question:

If you could work for Disney anywhere, in what capacity would you be employed and why?

I would want to work in guest relations, one of the tour guides. This would allow me to meet alot of different people and interact with them on a daily basis. It would also allow me to share my knowledge of Disney World with others, while the whole time being in my "Happy Place" as my DH calls it. Besides, if I were a tour guide, that would mean I really know ALOT!!!!

Jud--we saw the end of the NY/Buffalo game--was it just us or did neither team seem to want to win? LOL After the pitiful ending to the Sox season, the Pats need to pull this off to lift our New England sports lovers' spirits!! :)

Aye! A tense game- you win! No, you win! No, you win! hehehehee...

It was great to see Brady back to his old self! Maybe not a perfect season, but as they said in the perfect season, it is only that final game that counts!

And with all the MP 2nd Rounders from Mass, well, it would only be fitting! Go Pats! Go Moms!

:)

Oh this is an easy one for me. I would LOVE to be a VIP Tourguide! I would love showing guests (celebrities too) around the world. It would be so much fun to wear the "plaid" outfit and escort people on to rides, tell them all about Disney World. Every time I see them at Disney, I wish it was me wearing that outfit. Can you imagine doing that for a living? Getting PAID to have fun!

Ah Donna!

Totally with you on that one!!! I do a lot of that now- for friends, and net friends! Nothing like 'sharing' our World! Especially when they have kids! Add in the back stage tours, and I can't think of anything better!

:)

If you call loving food and obsessing on it way too much then I work in the field; but not really! :lmao: I do bake cakes for friends and family but I am truly far from being a pro.

Ah, cake! Food of the gods- and leading to worship of whoever provides! There was a fellow in DC who started that way and turned it into a massive business- high end custom home made cakes! Seems people really like that.

Most of what I really do falls in the category of wife and mom. I have done some doula work with laboring women and caught quite a few babies.:goodvibes

Oh, how cool is that!!! Don't know what doula is, but babies- that is cool! Future MP candidates! heheheheee... Go Babies!

Hi M2G!

I can see that! Saw some great windows on Main Street one night! Scenes from all the great animated movies! You see that? It was awesome! And in general, each window would be like a canvas-a 3D canvas for you to create a world!

:)

Well, I already posted my Cast Member history

And I really enjoyed reading that!!!

From atop Mexico! That's where the control room is! Best seat in the house!!! If I had made Mom's Panel, and if I had won the night in the castle, I was going to ask to trade it to be in that room for an Illuminations viewing!

With camera...

[Zanna? Keep that in mind? I'm only two hours away- 90 minutes in a rush... just sayin...]

:)

Everytime I pop into this thread i think that each one of us deserves a spot on the MP!!! Truly I do!! The love, the knowledge, the spirit of Disney really shines through. Ok, so you may get to know that I can get a bit mushy sometimes ;)

My dream job would definitely be in the Magic Kingdom. Since my favorite things are Splash Mountain and Main Street I would like to alternate days working as a CM in those 2 areas. On SM I would like to unload the passengers so I can see them pull up in their logs laughing about how wet they just got on the "big splash". On Main Street I would like to be a Photopass Photog so that I can see the expressions of happiness as the guests see the castle for the first time!

Oh, one other thing....I wouldn't mind going around & around on the train, so maybe I'll be a conductor instead!!! :) It's nice to dream anyway!

Hi Stitchnut! Hope everyone gets all better real quick!

And the ones that scream in terror at the GIANT characters? hehehehee...

:)

Your trip sounds just perfect, Penny. My girls (and I!!) enjoy all the things you mentioned. No one could bore me by sharing their trip plans. I so enjoy hearing about what people do. It also gives me good ideas for our next trip(s) to read about what others do.

On our trip in December we are going to Whispering Canyon for the first time. It is also my in-laws first trip to WDW so I think this will be a hilarious way to introduce them to The Magic. We also have ADR's at Crystal Palace (and numerous other places!).

I think it is awesome that you are able to take your GD on a trip. She will surely enjoy all the attention that you can give her, too. thanks so much for sharing your plans. Maybe you can post some pix when you get back too :)

So glad to hear your daughter is feeling better Stitchnut. We will continue to keep her, and now you and your son, in our thoughts. This is going to be a tough season to keep healthy for all of us.

OMG!!! Can you imagine if your very FIRST Disney experience was Whispering Canyon??? ROFLMAO!!!
