**2010** Epcot Food & Wine Festival ENDED 11/14. 2011 FESTIVAL 9/30-11/13

Has anyone been using the new passports they are distributing this year?
Yes they are

Does it seem to be slowing down the lines as people have them stamped?

Yes it is

I think these are a great idea, as I usually try to make up sheets for each booth and then rank items as we go. Now I can do this in the passport :thumbsup2

Well see how enchanting it is when over-served people elbow up beside the cashier cutting the line because they "forgot to have their thingy stamped...oh also can you do one for my friend?"

I saw none of that at any of my days at EPCOT.

I haven't seen it causing any issues with the lines.

Of the 25+ food items we sampled, the only one we disliked was in Brazil, the Grilled Pork Skewer with Farofa. Ours was very dry. Of the liquid refreshments, nothing was bad, but DH was disappointed that the Oktoberfest beers didn't have more of a head. He spent 9 months in Germany while he was in college (that =lots of beer!) and didn't feel the German beer was very authentic.

That was our experience also - very dry. I wouldn't recommend this dish to others but, of course, you should make your own conclusions.

Does anyone know if the food booths are staying open during evening EMH this year? It seems to have been hit or miss in the past.

Thanks!

Doesn't surprise me. Farofa, when not eaten with beans or with a very succulent piece of beef, is really like eating dirt. Pork can also get dry so quickly.
The only thing I will probably try from the Brazil booth is the caipirinha. Sad for my home country booth.

Good, glad to hear that! I"m not sure I need to get my passport stamped, I"m just glad there will be an easy to use listing of the food so I can take notes. We have several days planned for eating around the world and I want to make sure I get back to my favorites for seconds. And that we don't miss anything we really want to try!

Only two more weeks and we'll be there. :cool1:

Ditto. Have just been seeing people enjoying themselves and the wonderful weather we have this week.:)

The reason I was given by someone that the Champagne is not being served in the plastic fluted glasses is and I quote " Last year numerous guests wrote in complaining that the Champagne Glasses were not properly being filled. Someone higher up made the decision to switch to the smaller wine glasses to make it more standard throughout the Countries. We decreased the price and are filling it to the top. It provides a proper 3 oz pour." I stated that the Prosecco is still being served in Fluted Glasses in Festival Center. Did not get a response. :confused3

If the pre-registration for a wine seminar is booked, is it completely booked, or is there a way on the day of the seminar to attempt to get a seat?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I do know that I was trying to book a wine seminar, and it kept coming back booked. So, I waited a few hours and tried again, and it came through. So my advice is to keep on trying to book online.

I believe you can check in at the Welcome Center for open spots the morning of the seminar. Good luck!

We've been getting the passport stamped. Not really holding up the line as they stamp it while our receipt prints.

A friend checked and was told they will not stay open. Whether any of them actually do in practice or not, don't know.

And someone I know was given the reason "because people would overindulge with the larger glasses." Which says nothing about the continued availability of 22 oz beers.

My DD was disappointed that we couldn't get tickets for Keegan Gerhard online so we tried to make it to Epcot early for "held-back" tickets. When we went to the Festival Center around 10 we were still able to buy 4 tickets--so excited because that was for her birthday! When we went into the seminar a girl sitting with us said she got the last ticket and her husband couldn't get one. There were some empty seats(no shows I suppose).
Keegan was very gracious and friendly during the signing held right after. We even saw a bunch of the presenters getting a picture at the big cake outside the Center on Sunday so they were hanging around all week-end doing things.

I'm at Epcot now and just walked past the dessert and champagne booth. The price of the glasses has been raised to 10 to 11.75 and they are stocking the flute glasses as we speak.

That is excellent news. After reading all the posts I was going to skip this booth. Maybe all the complaints finally paid off and Disney made it right :wizard:

Amazing what a few well placed emails and complaints can accomplish.

Thanks to both of you! I got in this morning - not AP discounted, but that's okay. This is my first year doing a seminar, so I'm super excited! :yay:

What great news!!! I am so glad Disney responded well to all the concerns. The true measure of great customer service is how well you respond to issues! They get an A++ for this one.
