2010/2011 Armed Forces Salute Tickets

If you can indeed do this, this will be the death of this ticket. Too many people will abuse this and they will yank the offer next year. I fear this is the last year we will see this amazing deal.

You can do that , I have red about several people doing it already.

Can anyone tell me if I can have more then six activated at one timeframe? Not necessarily more then 6 in one transaction, like 6 one evening then 2 more the next day? We are a group of 8 going, all family( sisters, nephews, etc).

The goal of this promotion is for Disney to get more people into their parks. My guess is that it won't be offered beyond FY 2012 because with the Fantasyland expansion they won't need such a promotion to draw in guests, but who knows what Disney has up their sleeves for the future.

It doesn't work that way. You can't buy the tickets and activate them for someone who is not traveling with you and isn't going for months. If that is the case then people will buy a ton of tickets, activate them for fake people, then sell them on ebay for double profit. Can you seriously do this? If that is the case then I'm buying them for all my friends that are going later in the year and the beginning of next year without me.

We actually did this last year for my nephew and his family. We were there the begining of March and he was going the last of March. We had their names and birth dates when we activated them at DTD. We got home gave him the tickets and they had no problem using them on their trip.

I can't see this happening at all...if the ticket is tied to someone's name, home address and birthdate, I am guessing that they will need to show proper ID to use the ticket at the turnstyle. There would be no way to use fake information if the ticket is tied to a particular person.

ID is not required unless the ticket doesn't work right for some reason.

Yes but at any time Disney does reserve the right to ask for identification.

True and I know I wouldn't want to take the chance of them asking if it weren't my ticket.

But, when it is activated, it will be in the name and DOB of the person using it, I still don't see a problem with that. They would show their ID and the names match, how is that a problem?

It would only be a problem if, as someone pointed out above, someone were buying tons of tickets and reselling them on the open market. If someone buys one of these re-sold tickets and gets asked for an ID, the names most likely will not match.

No it is not a problem for that...someone mentioned that a person could potentially buy a bunch of tickets and use fake names and address and then just resell them for a profit. If for whatever reason the person using the ticket is asked for ID and it doesn't match, then there would be a problem...and since there is a record of the person who purchased the ticket in the first place, I can see that being a problem too.

Honestly, I don't see anyone really trying to make a profit from this by using fake names...this is something for military families to use for their family and friends, I just don't think anyone would really try something like this at all.

I definitely see a problem then, but if it is for a relative that would have an ID matching, I don't see the problem.

You might be surprised. I think more wouldn't than would, but I bet someone wil try it. It would sure mess up a Military career.

Really? Because I have never heard of a dishonest soldier, sailor, airman or marine or their spouse. (I hope that text properly conveys sarcasm.)

I have used these tickets 3 times in the last 12 months and never been asked to produce an ID other than at activation, and niether were my guests. I have also never heard anyone on the board in the past two years needing an ID at the turnstile unless there was a problem and tickets needed a re-issue. People sell their unused days in their regular tickets on eBay all the time with no problems, even though they are supposed to be fingerprinted. Cast members sell their complimentary tickets with no problems. With this policy there is nothing to stop the sale of these tickets as well.

When this promotion first started a few years ago, the tickets showed up on eBay, then it seemed to slow down. Since you can buy unlimited numbers of tickets, now, I can see there could be a problem. But having to come up with new birth dates, phone numbers and addresses for imaginary people cold get quite complex, not to mention the fact that it's all tied back to you.

If people abuse it by buying too many tickets, Disney may flag their account. The military could be notified. Not to mention you have to shell out the money at Disney and actually go to Disney to activate the tickets. What if you buy and activate tickets and can't find anyone to buy them from you for more than you paid? They're not completely giving these tickets away!

And for us, many family and friends simply aren't interested, because they're going for more than 4 days. Buying two of the tickets brings the cost very close to what you'd pay for a 6 or 7 day hopper, which you can put on your room key for convenience, so most would rather just buy the tickets on their own. And from my standpoint, people are too flaky for us to shell out the money and hope they won't change their minds about going later! Unless they gave me the money upfront, I wouldn't do it for most people.

Some will probably abuse it, since you can buy so many more tickets. But not that many. If Disney just wants to get people into the parks, they should lower ticket prices for everybody lol.

Scarasm noted....I guess I am more honest than most people and would never think to do such a thing and would hope that this priviledge of discounted tickets would not be abused in such a way.

I guess it does take all kinds..........

Were you able to activate the second set of 6?

We bought and used 4 military salute tickets in Nov 2010 when the previous promotion was renewed, and just last week, bought and used 4 more military salute tickets with no problems. Both times these tickets were bought on base at ITT, and activated at MK/DHS gates.

Hi I'm new here! We are planning a trip in Oct and plan to get the AF Salute tickets. There's 4 of us and we will be there for 7 days. We'd like to be able to go to the parks for more than just 4 days! Can we buy and use the 2 other tickets for us for more days or is it possible we can buy 4 more tickets on another day to use for the rest of our trip? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I could go on and on about the stuff my husband has been dealing with in the two weeks he has been in charge of his platoon.

The limit of 6 tickets has been lifted, so you can buy 2 tickets for each member of your party. I believe it does require a separate transaction.

If you go to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in this Forum, especially Post #17, you can get a lot more information. An easy way to get to the sticky is by clicking on the link in my signature.
