2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

Miprender.....if you rent a car, you HAVE to rent carseats too, right? I assume that it's only on Public transportation (the Disney busses) that you can get away with no car seats? I really wanted to rent a car (we wouldn't even leave Disney property once we're there) but the added cost of 2 car seats is holding me back! haha

Yes you do need car seats and that was the reason we did not rent a car a car last time. It would have been a couple of $100 more just for them. After we get home I am at BabiesRUs and what do I see... a special bag to hold your car seats that can be taken on planes, buses etc. They cost about $30 and I will need two because DD who will be five will be able to fit just in a smaller booster seat that I'll be able to squeeze in one of those bags. I just hope SW still allows 2 checked bags when we go in April. Otherwise we will be packing really light.

I am so jelous of everyone who is so close to their vacation!:sad1: I think I need an electronic ticker to take to my second job (the one that is supposed to be paying for this vacation) to help get me through the day!

Happy to report we are moving our '09 trip from July to April vacation. :cutie: We were scaling back our 2 wk July trip to 1 week and I thought, well- if we are going for just 1 week let's try April vacation. We are used to the packed parks in July so hopefully April is'nt much worse. :rotfl2: I'm really hoping that although it's still hot in April, it won't be as humid. We have gone 3 times in July- nothings as bad as July right?:confused3
new trip dates: April 17-25th

That's what we are hoping too.... but we will be leaving as you are arriving. We'll have to wave to you at the airport

I am new here, and we are planning our first family trip to Disney in Sept. 2009. I am already SO EXCITED!!! How early can we book?

Thanks all for the inspiration in these boards! :lovestruc

It is never too early to book your trip. You can call in today and make your room only reservation, and then later after the codes come out, book your package. Some of us really like to do that, it give us that warm fuzzy feeling to have a confirmation number.

Good luck !! Let us know what other questions you have.... this forum is amazing, and you'll be able to get a lot of help.

WOW a true newbie! What a great place to get your feet wet, you will find tons of suggestions and help as you plan your holiday. Be prepared to be overwhelmed at 1st as you wade thru the info that is available on the DIS boards -- come back here often and share your plans with the rest of us who are waiting to go and share the magic with our families :cool1:

I am totally new too and my travel agent took our info and is going to call us when we can book our trip, usually 11-12 months in advance.

MsDunny...you can book "room only" reservations now - to hold your space. They will charge 1nt deposit of this years highest rate at whatever resort you're booking. Once the new rates come in (around mid-Aug they told me) then they will adjust it to whatever the rate will be and you can add on a package to it, if you want. I just booked my Dec 2009 room at the Poly today!

Just got an email from Mousesavers saying that ticket prices are going up as of 8-3-08. Now the dilemma - should I go ahead and buy my tickets to avoid the increase? This means not doing a package, so no DDP, but I will save money since they will probably go up again in August of '09. What to do? :confused3

YIKES that's a good question! So you can buy your tickets NOW at today's rate before the rates go up, even if you're not using them till next year? Umm, I don't know WHAT to do? But I'm fairly sure I want DDP so I think I'll take the risk. YIKES....not sure! Does anyone know, historically, how much they went up in price when they raised the cost of tickets??

Go to Allearsnet.com and on their home page, in the Planning section, they have listed the ticket prices and price increases since 1971. It's pretty interesting.

Looks like we are getting really close to the 2009 rates coming out. Lots of talk going on around the boards. Are you guys ready to get our trips booked:woohoo: :woohoo: I know I am!!!

 I'm not ready! That means that I have to seriously commit...well, not that I have a problem with that...just that since it's a matter of all the family planning. :surfweb:

I just wish we had more specific information about what the packages and prices will be. I mean I'm definitely booking ASAP...I just don't want to try and sort out what I want to book while on the phone with Disney. :rolleyes1

Maybe I will just book a room only first and then upgrade to a package if they offer one that fits my family. What do you guys think? :confused3

Well since I know we want the dining plan I will be booking a package and then hope for free dining later!

I wish it was that simple for me. I have gone over our eating habits and priced the TS/CS places we want to eat and when compared to this years DDP plans I come out better with DDE. So....unless 2009's plans are a better deal than 2008's I will be skipping the package and going with room only and DDE.

Heck I figure if we can still eat what we want , when we want, AND come out cheaper I might find that I like DDE better, epecially since I'm already planning on getting an AP next year. :thumbsup2

I have done some figuring on the DDP based on what we ate last time and we only come out ahead by a little bit but I just like knowing everything is paid for in advance.

We don't get AP's so we don't have the DDE option. I can see where you would want to go with what is best for your family.
