I understand about wanting to do nice sit down meals.......I guess that's why I sat down and priced all the places we wanted to eat, then figured out what it would cost with DDE and then compared that to the cost of DDP. I was surprised that DDE was a better deal for my family than DDP but it probably has to do with the fact that 3 of the kids will be "disney adults" next year. DDP would have been a better deal if two or more of my kids were considered kids on DDP

I guess everyone has to figure out what is best for their families...I'm just glad that I have the option to cater our vacation to our needs.

Looks like we are getting really close to the 2009 rates coming out. Lots of talk going on around the boards. Are you guys ready to get our trips booked I know I am!!!

I've been ready since we got back in June 2007. Guess I had better hurry up and finalize my dates. I sure hope next week the packages come out, this waiting is killing me .

This wait is driving me nuts, too, Dina! Although, I think I secretly enjoy it ! Let's face it, we are planners..........what could be better than extending our pre-planning? However, I guess if I were going in Jan/Feb/Mar/Apr/May, I'd probably be pulling out my hair!!!!!!!!

On the up-side, I've had plenty of time to change my mind about where to stay! I believe I have finally decided on a resort (I think I've "decided on" 4 throughout the last 18 mos). But, if Disney keeps the pkg prices too much longer, I may switch again !

2009 here I look at it as a time to save my money, pay cash for the trip, and buy things through out the year so I will not have so much to buy next year. Soon as I put my deposit down next month WATCH OUT DISNEY RUBBERMAID I'M FILLING YOU UP!!!!!

I just wish we had more specific information about what the packages and prices will be. I mean I'm definitely booking ASAP...I just don't want to try and sort out what I want to book while on the phone with Disney.

Maybe I will just book a room only first and then upgrade to a package if they offer one that fits my family. What do you guys think?

If you want a room only reservation, you can call disney and make that reservation now, no need to wait for the rates. You will pay a one night deposit based on this years peak rate. If you want to change it to a package later you can do that too.

This is what we did; we're getting a Family Suite at ASMusic so there's no way I was going to wait to book that. This way I could make our ADR's on time and when the packages come out I'll just upgrade the reservation with most of the leg work already done.

I am also anxious to see the new rates - and dining plan details. Hearing more info might be released Friday, and go into effect on Sunday. I've already warned the kids we might be headed to AAA the second I'm done working on Monday (3 PM)!!

bring the wdw reservations phone # with you, and call to find out the rates!

I'm excited and dreading it at the same time, KWIM? I'm worried about how much they'll go up, and wondering what changes might be made to the dining plan... I hope the rates come out soon! I want the calendar, too!

All, I have been subscribed to this thread for some time. We've unfortunately had to put off our Disney trip until 2010 :-( That will be 3 years! Anyway, I will stay subscribed and perhaps start a new thread at the end of this year. I am honestly sad about this. I know it sounds spoiled, but it is what it is. Thanks for hearing me vent.

Seems like a great thread! I'm looking to stay about a week in early December 2009. I'm actually a local and visit all the day, but I want the "tourist" feel. It's hard to leave the parks and have to drive back home when you see people going back to their hotel rooms and you have to go to work the next day!

Plus, December is such a nice time of year. I'm just looking to relax and enjoy all the Christmas decorations and events. It won't be all about rides, since I can do those any time!

I know I could book a room right now, but I want to stay deluxe, but I'm not in the position to pay the peak rate for one night to hold the reservation (hmm...hotel reservation, or rent?), so I can wait a little longer till the 2009 rates come out.

Still trying to figure out WHICH deluxe hotel to stay at. I think GF would be too expensive for me this time around, leaning towards maybe AKL. Nice, peaceful resort. But, I would LOVE to stay at a monorail resort. It's so hard to decide!

So sorry you had to put the trip off. I would be really down also. I guess the positive is that you still get to go. Just think you will be getting really excited for your upcoming trip at the same time that I am depressed because our trip will be over.

we have been going every year, and have our trip planned for 2009, but we've already decided we are not going in 2010 I guess it should be okay - since we've gone so many years and all - I will have a harder time with it after our 2009 trip - when reality sets in...........
