2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

I have been planning to go to Disney for a few years now. My dh finally said OK , we can definatley go next year! We really want to go in March, My youngest dd will be turning 5 on the 17th, so it would be a birthday trip but i've heard airfare is too high because of spring break. So we are deciding between March or May!
If we go in March it would be the 13-21. If we go in May it will be May 1-9.

Does anyone know about airfare in march? Thanks

I went last year at march and the price of the resort was higher, but I am really not sure about airline prices, I didn't think that the price for our tickets were high, but I have always flown either over spring break or in the summer so I am not sure if they are lower at other times of the year (I purchased them nine months in advance), but then again it costs a lot more to fly out of alaska then in the lower 48. We went the same time in March last year and near the end of our trip the crowds were getting crazy.

We fly every year and spring break prices are higher than other seasons. You can manage a reasonable price but you need to plan ahead and buy the tickets when they are at a rate you don't mind paying.

From Detroit to Orlando mid March it can run $325 - 450 depending on when you buy. Compare that to July at $200 each.

Husband says another trip so soon is too much Disney! I covered my ears and pretended he didn't say that! Taking the daughter (who will be 19 just finishing first year at Nursing School) and niece (who will be 6 at the time and never been) for a "Girls Trip". Chose the WL because of it's proximity to the MK. We normally rent a car when the husband goes because he has to have his own wheels, and we would normally eat a lot of different resorts then. This will be the first time using Magical Express instead of having a car....I was a little nervous about staying 'farther out' from the park without a car so the WL is a logical choice for us: We love the resort, proximity is good, close enough but far enough. And I know my niece will love it. I am really enjoying planning a trip for a 'little one'. It's been a long time since I've done that, and never in this much detail so it is really fun.

I have actually been doing some research and work on our 2009 trip today! I read through all of the 5br and 4br on vrbo.com and sent my inquiry to windsor hills rent. I am actually excited about this! I can't wait to see what kinds of reply's I get. I knew you all would share my excitement, since not a lot of my friends and family understand my excessive planning. I will keep you all posted on what replies I get from winsor hills.

I love reading the DIS everyday because it helps me get the Disney fix I need but it also increases my desire to go. The wait for 2009 is killing me.

I already have my park days planned out (subject to change when the hours are released)

I have a list of the ADR's I want to make in a YEAR

I know what flight times I want to book.

What else can I do. I need some sort of Disney planning project and I am out of ideas.

When you figure it out, let me know, LOL!!! I need something too!!! I've actually been reading my 2007 Unofficial Guide - highlighting some attractions we didn't do last time (due to height, too scary, etc.) but want to try this time!!

U.S. Thanksgiving 2009 is Thursday, November 26th. Always the 4th Thursday in Nov. So the Monday after will be - November 30th! That should be a great week to go I think!! Xmas decorations but fairly low crowds!

WOOOHOOOO! Yall can add me to this list. We have been paying down debt since Katrina, and finally we are able to go.

Dh said Mardi Gras would be great, because he doesn't have to take as much time off of work.

So it looks like our tentative dates are Feb 22-Feb 28th 2009. Dh wants to stay at Pop, so it is between Pop and Coronado Springs. We know we are going to do 2 days each in MK, Epcot, and 1 day each in HS and AK.

It will be Me, DH, DS(4y/o by then) and DS(2 1/2 by then). We were also looking at October if we couldn't go for MArdi Gras, but DS2 will be 3 by then so it raises the prices.

So excited, I haven't planned a trip since 05!!!!

Yippeee!!! Found out last week that we will be getting money BACK from the IRS!! $1,600!! (DH is a pastor, so we usually end up having to pay--but I changed my with-holding status this year!!)

So, now our beach trip for this summer is paid for. . .and the stimulus check that's coming will go STRAIGHT INTO THE DISNEY FUND!!! We were hoping/planning to go--now it's down to just planning!!

We are looking into possibly changing our resort..... We are currently planning to stay at AKV, but it's filling up really fast and we aren't ready to book yet. We are looking into Beach Club Villas or Boardwalk Villas. What do you fellow 2009ers think???? AVK may be avail, but we want to have a back up picked.

Wow, you are on the ball! I have no idea what to plan first...I just know that we are 80% sure that we want to stay at the WL. If we cannot afford it we will stay at POR or CSR.

I have a list of Disney projects to keep me busy until it is time to go:

-finish my 2007 WDW trip scrapbook(s)
-make tee shirts (check out the Dis Disigns thread)
-make DD an autograph book
-start looking for bargains on Disney trip stuff
-make countdown calendar (it is a surprise trip, so it will be just for my eyes only )
-I saw on another thread that a diser would do a Disney movie night every week or so to help pass the time. She would put the Disney movies on strips of paper and have one of her kids pull out the title and that would be the movie they would watch. They would have treats and watch the movie as a family. I really like that idea.

Hi everyone just found this thread

We are going back to WDW in Feb 2009, our last trip was Christmas 2007 and I am just itching to get back out there again.

We are DVC members os we've booked to stay at our home resort AKV. We're staying the first four days in a studio savanna view and them moving to a 2br standard when our friends join us. This is our first time 'home' so we are extra excited. We've only ever stayed in value and moderate resorts before so I can not wait.

I have been keeping myslef occupied working on my 2007 photo album, reading the dis, talking non stop about our next trip with my DH (he is as excited as me) and planning, planning, planning! We've been working out what we missed last time and what we want to make sure we do this time. We have a full 2 weeks this time so I want to take some more time out days. Last trip it was Christmas week so very busy and we only had 8 days to see it all so it was a full on holiday!! This time I want to enjoy the resort and spend time relaxing as well.

It will be great having some 2009 ers to plan with

I'm glad to see that others are already planning their meals for next year! Has anyone ever been to FW and did the campfire with Chip -n- Dale? We are thinking about doing that on our first night after a meal at Chef Mickey's or The Yachtsman. Any ideas?

We have this down on the list to do on our 2009 trip. We've never done any of the activities at FW so we are going to do the camp fire, a horse drawn carriage trip and the Hoop de doo review. Although not all on the same night obviously

I like the idea of the camp fire for the first night but we would never get there in time. We are flying from the UK and our flight doesn't land until 5.20 so it will be gone 6 before we get to our resort.

I booked our hotel - ASMovies for FEB 21 - MAR 1, 2009! I'll add a package later.

I'm so ready to go back! Wish I could start planning our days, but I'm waiting for Tour Guide Mike to post the FEB 2009 calendar, then I'll start on it. Otherwise, I'll end up having to change around too much later.

In the meantime, I guess I need to write in the photo albums from our last 2 trips...I put the pics in, but never got around to the descriptions.

We have been doing the Disney movie night since we got back from our last trip in 2006. We have them all in a jar and we draw out a movie twice a month. When we hit October this year we will have to start doing 3 a month to get them all in (we have a bunch of movies). It is a great way to watch the movies and we get so excited about our trip.

This waiting is making me do crazy things . I "price-checked" POP again tonight, and a little bubble came up to "Compare CBR". I did, and there was only a $500 difference. Any opinions on CBR? I looked at the map, and it looks huge (compared to POP), but I like the lagoon.

There will be 4 of us (dd's will be 7 & 4). What is the transportation like? I checked out the resort thread, but want info from you guys. Anything you can give me would be great...after all, I only have 15 months to figure this out !
