2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

I feel bad for all of you going early in the year. It is killing me to wait and we are not going until September. I couldn't imagine going in Jan or Feb and not being able to book a package yet. You would think they would come out with the information a little earlier.

do you think the 'seasons' dates will remain the same?
we want to book asm suites the first day it switches to value season (which this year is Aug3) do you think the dates remain the same? or do I have to wait and see ?
if so I would want to book our room only as soon as possible, because I'm sure asm suites books quickly, right?

The actual dates when the seasons change will vary from year to year. Since Aug 3 is a Sunday this year, I would expect that the seasons may change Aug 2 in 2009. But they can also move it by a week or so in either direction.

I'm wondering what the new dining plan is going to be. Think they will take more away from it???

I have no doubt that the cost will go up.

It has generally been Disney's practice to let a program run 2 years, but if there is one thing we know about Disney - it's that they are unpredictable.

It would not shock me in the least to see prices go up and something else be taken away.

Hi 2009 Planners! I haven't posted here in a while - life interfering with my DIS time as usual! So today I was glued to my computer doing "research" on airfare - Southwest released their fall flights today. Since we're going in Nov. 2009 I wanted to check on flight prices, comparing flying on T-day vs. the Sat. after T-day, that kind of thing. Well, after seeing the airfare I am really scared for 2009! :scared1: The prices have nowhere to go but up...I am so worried that we won't be able to afford to go! I guess on the bright side I have a lot of time to wait and save money... :worried:

Hi, count me in!!!!! I'm hoping to go either 3 weeks before or after Easter 2009!!! Haven't done much research but reading CJ's Mom's post I'm getting a little worried about the airfare. Oh well, we could just drive 1200 miles!! Umm, no way. Only time will tell. I can't wait!!!

:sail: Yacht Club bound!!! 2009!!!

Just keep watching the prices. I was pleasantly surprised (ok...more jump up and down screaming) about a week ago when I found round-trip tickets for $211. I was expecting to pay twice that or "borrow" some of my Dad's frequent-flyer miles, but I'm happy and we'll have my Dad's points for emergency use. It popped back up to $400 since then, so I was really lucky to check when I did - A little bit of early pixie dust.

I hope you have the same kind of luck!:goodvibes

Yes, I agree with you about driving. We recently drove to Baltimore from MA and that was excruciating - I can't imagine driving to FL! I guess if it was the ONLY way I could get there, I'd do it.

That's great! Yes, I'm going to be watching fares for the rest of the year. Last year I booked SW the day the fares came out, $99 each way. About 2 months before our trip I got dings for both flights, so I ended up paying about $250 less total. I wrote to them and asked for a refund on my credit card rather than the SW credit - and they gave it to me! Not saying it will happen again this year or next, given the economic climate, but you never know! I'm just keeping my fingers crossed...:goodvibes

HEY EVERYONE..HAVEN'T BEEN AROUND TOO MUCH LATELY..LIFE IS STILL CRAZY. ANYWAY, THOUGHT I'D POST TODAY SINCE THE AUGUST 2008 DISCOUNTS CAME OUT TODAY I GUESS :) . THAT KINDA GIVES ME AN IDEA FOR NEXT YEAR. IF I COUNT 45 DAYS FROM THIS TIME NEXT YEAR THAT WOULD BE ABOUT AUGUST 9TH (DID THAT MAKE SENSE?), SO THE EARLIEST WE COULD LEAVE WOULD BE AUG 11, 2009 :thumbsup2 . I HAVEN'T FIGURED OUT HOW MUCH OF A SAVINGS IT WOULD BE, BUT ANY SAVINGS IS BETTER THAN NONE. SO THAT DEFINITELY GIVES ME A BETTER IDEA AS TO WHAT OUR OFFICIAL DATES ARE GOING TO BE. STILL HAVE A FEW MORE THINGS TO FACTOR IN, BUT IT'S A START. I'M HOPING THINGS WILL SETTLE DOWN AROUND HERE SOME SO I CAN GET BACK TO PLANNING, BUT NOTHINGS EVER THAT EASY :lmao: .

I think the reason the Delta fare dropped was because the Southwest fares just came out a few days later. They were probably hoping they'd be able to snag a few passengers before Southwest released their fares. The Delta fare was still better though, so I'm happy.

This really isnt "my thing" anyway, but it is to bad. On the other end, I wonder what they will put there! LOL Gosh I am having a hard enough time deciding on our dining now, this will prob mean more choices in the long run. I doubt they will have anything new ready by the time we go this time.

Dana
p.s. Thanks for the heads up!

Wow, I will admit that I am a little disappointed; as I was thinking about visiting pleasure island with my friend who has decided to take her kids to WDW during the time we will be there.

I'm not really into to nightclubs anymore, but I thought it would be fun to get away one night and have some "adult" time. :worried:

Oh well, maybe I'll look into some Spa Time at GF! :rolleyes1

I am curious as to what they will replace the clubs with and if they will be done by next July when we are there! popcorn::

The rumors are started to fly around on the dining plan board about changes for 2009.

Hmm, very interesting! I'm pretty sure we're going to do OOP dining in 2009 - but that Quick Service option may be a good one if it actually happens.

I agree with some of them that if free dining is offered next year and this plan is going to happen that would be what they offer. We are going in September and hope for free dining but I would pay the extra to get the basic. I like doing one TS a day. I just wish they would add the tip and appetizer back in. Not going to happen but that is what I would like.
