I have seen that guests currently staying at the world are able to book for 2008 with the dining plan included. Is there any way DVC members can get in on this. I would obviously want to use my points and stay at a villa, or would I have to pay the 95 dollars :rotfl2: to stay at a WDW hotel to get free dining in 2008? :scratchin

You can't get free dining when using points.

Actually, neither. You'd have to call CRO and make a regular cash reservation, during the free dining period (in Floridian slang: "Hurricane Season").

Also, the promotion that is on right now is one of the so-called "Bounce Back" promotions. You have to be currently staying onsite at WDW, and you have to make your future booking while you're still there. Once you've checked out, you're no longer eligible. "Free" DDP to the general public is usually not opened up until about April, for the following September.

And that means a minimum stay, a ticket purchase and paying rack rate for the room.

Another DVC perk I assume lol. :headache:
No...the DVC perk is that we have the option of purchasing DDP at any time of the year without minimum stays, paying rack rate, or purchasing park tickets we don't need.

The so-called "free" DDP is only usually open to the public for the month of September (a little longer for bounce back and UK participants). And to get it, as Carol mentioned, they pay a pretty price for other required things to get the "free" stuff. We don't get "free" DDP on points stays, but if we want to use it (and many do), we can get it just like anyone else. That's not a loss of anything for us.

The other eleven months of the year, cash customers pay the higher prices, purchase other minimum requirements like park tickets, and pay the same price for DDP we pay without all that stuff.

I just saw the thread on the budget board talking about this same thing. We love to go to WDW in Sept because of the low crowds. But last year during the free dining rush, it was a nightmare! I hate the free dining! The only thing that made it worth paying for, besides the great prepaid food, was at the end of the night going to the buses. The line for the All Stars was so long that it had to of taken hours to get back to the resort. But the bus back to BWV only had about 15 people on it. That was our first trip using our DVC and my DH looked at me and said, "I am so happy we have the vacation club."
