Hello Cruise Mates! I can't believe I'm writing this, but we have a new baby to bring on board! He made the cut off by 2 days(being 12 weeks). We adopted him 2 weeks and are just now getting settled! lol
The caseworker that did our homestudy for NJ will be here today to start the papers for finalization! :goodvibes (takes a bout 6 months-3 visits).
He is so beautiful and I can't believe we have him in our arms for good!
His name is Nathaniel. He will be 7 weeks old this Friday. When we were placed with him he was 8 pounds and now just shy of 11 pounds! :rotfl:
Of course now i have 101 questions about traveling with a newborn! Are the pack a play cribs they will give us will be clean? How many sheets should I bring? How terrable expensive his bottled water on board to make formula. I'm actually thinking of getting the liquid just for the cruise so not have to worry about mixing. We will be at the parks for 4 days prior to sailing, so i would use poweder for then though.
Omg! My head is spinning. I'm usually a organized person and I'm starting to panic that I will forget something now, since this is the first time that I'm a mommy to a baby.
Okay gonna take a breather, and will be back hopefully sooner than later! lol

Alrightly, congrats again! Let's see....the pack n play they gave us on the cruise was practically brand spanking new. And the ones in VWL was pretty new as well. The cabin steward gave us new sheets every day if we asked for them. He also took it down during the day and took it down at night until I told him not to worry about it. You may want to bring a sheet or two from home anyways because he may be used to your detergent/smells and may be more soothing to him. It will be clean, but I'm a bit of a germ freak, so my suggestion to you is to bring one of those containers of Clorox clean wipes. At this age, he's not going to be licking and sucking on everything--that time will come so enough! Also a bottle of purell or something like that for you comes in handy. It's all over the ship, but it's always nice to have some on land.

Julia was 11 months when we cruised last year, but she was still on formula. I was worried about the water issue and just sucked it up and spent the cash on the ready made stuff. It was worth it for my piece of mind. With a baby this young though, try to start him on the ready made about a week or 2 before you leave to make sure it's going to agree with him. Some babies don't like the premixed stuff at all, and some babies love it. I know Enfamil makes formula in six packs like sodas and I loved those. Also, try those little premeasured packets of formula for your WDW stay. Those things are awesome, because you just pour so many ounces of water in the bottle and throw it in your bag. When baby is ready to eat, you take out the little sleeve, pour it in, shake and go. For the cruise, bring a small bottle of dish soap to wash the bottles too. I had bought these microwavable sterilizing bags for our trip, you put the bottles/nipples in this ziploc thing with some water, tossed it in the micro and it sterilized them. It was convenient having the microwave in our room at VWL.

That takes care of your initial questions. Don't get overwhelmed! Many of us here are moms and have travelled with little babies. Even when you get onboard, if you have questions or need anything, let me know! Julia isn't even 2 yet, so it hasn't been too long for me. We're here to help you out in any way we can!

Oh one more thing--if he uses a pacifier---bring like 10 with you!! Those things get lost so easily, even with the leashes on them. Both Emma and Julia had pacifiers on our last cruise and I brought 6, we went through all 6 and had to buy more when we stopped in Key West--that was day 2 of the cruise! :rotfl2: I speak from experience!!

Important Dining Poll:

I just got off the phone with DCL regarding early dining for our cruise. For those of us who have decided to link with others from this thread for dining, I'm going to take a poll as to what rotation you would prefer so that I can note that to DCL.

Here are the options:

1. Triton's 5:30 This would be TAAP
2. Animator's 5:45 This would be APPT
3. Parrot Cay 6:00 This would be PTTA

4. I don't have a preference

If you could please post your preference here, I will pick up the results.

I don't want any hard feelings, so whichever rotation has the most votes is what I'm going to request.

Keep in mind this does not mean we will get this rotation, it's only a request.

Thanks.

Cindy

I'll make it easy...............

Thanks, It's good to have gotten 200 out of the way. I wanted to post on another thread but waited until after post 200 so I could use that one here. :thumbsup2

Congratulations that is such exciting news. :jumping1: I have never cruised with a newborn but have been to Disney with a 4 month old. Just remember to pack enough formula, diapers and wipes. I agree with Karen about the medications. If you bring it with you and are prepared you will never have to use it. :rotfl2: That is such a great age to travel because they are so portable and the just love to look around at everything. We took the girls on almost all the rides at Disney and they either loved looking around at everything or they just fell asleep.

First of all, you better count the votes very carefully, because there's been some known cheaters on this thread. :rolleyes1

That being said, I'm gonna vote 3 PTTA because I think 6:00 is a better time for me to eat some chicken fingers from Pluto's once we get back onboard and not be too full when dinner comes around.:rotfl2:

Curt will only vote ONCE this time, right Curt?

Diana, if I remember correctly, besides Curt weren't you the one who voted twice? :scratchin

Thanks Mary.

Curt is the only cheater on the thread. ::cop:

I did not vote twice on the t-shirts, because I didn't vote at all, I wanted to keep it fair since I was the one tallying the votes.

I just saw a commercial for Ellen, Orlando Bloom is going to be on her show this afternoon. Maybe he'll be telling the world about that cabana massage he's gonna give me on Castaway Cay. :lmao:

No, not the shirts, it was guessing who booked the cruise first (lowest reservation number). I thought I remember you guessing twice, maybe I was wrong. :confused3

I can't believe that someone is talking about snow. That is such a four letter word and I really can't believe that it is allowed here. :rotfl:

Amy love your clock and boxes. I always want to make things like that but never sit down to actually do it.

As for dinner I would chose either 2 or 3. Probably later would be better as long as we have time to get to the show. I can't remember what time the shows start. Thank you so much for getting all of us together. I can't imagine all the work that went into this. :worship:

Tom went to the Jimmy Buffett concert last night and it poured through the whole concert. That wouldn't be a problem except he had lawn seats. He came home soaked. I was supposed to go but I sold my ticket yesterday when the weather was 90% chance of rain. He said he had a good time.

So now that BB is over who can't wait for Survivor and Amazing Race? I can't wait for Thursday. It should be interesting.

Me! Me! Me!

I bet Jimmy Buffet was awesome even if it did rain. I saw Barry Manilow with lawn seats in the pouring rain a few years back, it still was a great concert.
