That's exactly what we are doing, only tomorrow. I have 10 moms with 15 kids coming here. :faint: I got horn noise makers too. I need my head examined.

As for regular NYE plans, in my 33 years, I have never ever, ever done anything on NYE. I always thought of it as a depressing holiday, I'm not sure why, I'm usually in bed by 10. I guess I knew what happened that particular year, and I'm celebrating the year to come, but what if it's not a good year, should i really be looking forward to it? :confused3 Oh well, so my friend was here one day with her boys and we have two arcade games in the basement playroom. Her boys played the games for like 2 hours straight and we didn't hear a peep from them. So she says, we're coming here for NYE and the boys can play and we can hang out, play pool, darts, whatever. So sure enough, it spun into a party! It's one of those, you can bring your kids parties, so who knows how that's going to work out. We have 6 couples and 12 kids coming. Once again, I need my head examined.

New Years Resolution: STOP VOLUNTEERING!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

My Thoughts and Prayers will be with you.......and maybe I should stop by after work with Nick. He can keep the girls occupied while I help you down a few Twisted Teas so you can unwind. :rotfl:
Bet Bruce would just love walking into the house that night! :rotfl2:

I would be cheering too!! Having work done on the house is almost like torture! :scared1: Once it's done, all fine and good, it's getting there that's scary.

And, you've also been working on your bathroom at the same time.

Gosh, you are brave.
Yes, but the bathroom has been on the back burner since the kitchen counters were torn up. But, I'm hoping that Chris will get a lot done when I go to Virginia in a couple weeks, since I'm taking the girls and he'll have the house to himself.

We'll be there, but that's because it's only a 1.5 hour drive for us. I'm sure that we'll just be there for Saturday.

I should find out what day my parents and sister plan on going. Maybe you guys could meet up.
My sister already promised she would give Nick the Lanyard and Pin they are supposed to be giving out to DVC members.

I think Stacy's Dad talked to every single one of us on the cruise. A very nice man with wonderful stories to share. :cheer2:
I didn't talk to him much on the cruise, but we talked a LOT in the Boardwalk laundry room the afternoon/evening we got off the cruise.

Definitely let me know! I'm pretty sure that it'll be Saturday for us.

That was a fun unexpected mini-meet!! I was glad we had that time since that was the longest I got to see you during the whole trip.

You're right, it was fun!! And, we didn't get to see you much on the cruise, but our laundry room escapades were fun!

I should post a picture of the 3 of them and do it like one of those "If you see these people..." type of ads and see how many people go up to them and say " Hey I saw your picture on the Dis and was told you would be here!"

Well hopefully this cruise that will change big time. Since Cindy probably had to get a table for 20 so that we could all be seated together at dinner!! :rotfl2:

My parents and sister are flying out on the 26th and coming back on the 30th, because they got the ding price.
What time is your flight down? Maybe you'll be on the plane together.
My Dad & sister are social butterflies so if your on the same plane you'll have no trouble talking with them. My mom on the other hand is a bit quieter.
I have the 3:05 flight out of Albany on the 26th.

Congratulations Amy. I know you will be excited to have it done and get back to a completed kitchen.

Is anyone planning on being at Animal Kingdom for the preview of the new ride? My DD just called and said she got an invite since they are passholders. (I was bragging to them last week that DVC members got to preview it) She has already made reservations at Animal Kingdom Lodge for the weekend. Guess I better get myself in gear tomorrow and call MS to see what is available. I would like to try and go down on Wednesday.

I hope to ride EE on 1/27. I'm flying in late on the 26th.

I have flown out of Midway only once. I won't ever again.

-The accident that happened, I am surprised it hasn't happened sooner. They barely have enough runway to support the bigger planes landing there and they use every inch even on good weather days.

-Because of the lack of runway, takeoffs and landings are... sudden to say the least. I call it jet carrier operations.

-It's in the middle of a neighborhood. Yes the street going to/from it is quite wide, but it's still a city street. It's way out of the way, even moreso for you than us Cindy.
I'll be flying through Midway in March on my way out to CA. I'll be praying for clear weather. DD is meeting me there (she'll be flying from Norfolk). We're flying through Vegas on the way back though.

Now I definately need to post their picture because if I remember correctly that is there flight too. I will be seeing all three of them this weekend so I can get a picture and post it for you and I'll have my Dad check out Mark & Mary's site to see your picture!
How very cool!

Karen,

We will probably drive down (2 1/2 hours) Wednesday after work, so we probably won't get to try the ride out till Thursday. We were at Animal Kingdom the weekend before Christmas and saw empty cars running on the track. What resort are you staying at? I am going to try for Boardwalk, but if that isn't available we will probably stay at Saratoga.

That's very sweet of both of you guys to say such nice things about dear old Dad! I can't wait to tell him.

Diana I would be more then happy to meet you on the top deck. That's one of the things I will strive to do on this upcoming cruise. To be up a little earlier to enjoy a wonderful sunrise! I did make it the morning we pulled into Castaway Cay. Plus since we chose the early dining this go around it should make it a little easier for me to get to bed a little earlier so I can get up a little earlier!

Perhaps Cindy can do wake up calls again :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
I'm in awe that you guys got up that early and were up on deck - how awesome is that? We don't get enough sleep at home, so we slept in a bit more on the ship.

Stacy,
Tell them to look for the short mid-50ish woman with the DVC bag and "I'm going to Disney" grin :wave2:

Ha, that's what you think. Note written, Julie & Matt need 3 a.m. wake up calls every morning. No problem. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Karen - Fred is definately a sweetie so if you see him stop and chat. I ran into him once or twice up on deck. It always seemed to be near the drink station.

Gary and I had a nice chat one morning when I was up early doing laundry and writing out thank you cards up on deck 9.

No NYE plans for us. It has never been really celebrated in our family. Guess that is because my Grandfather died on NYE (back when my mom was just a teenager). So it has always been low key.

Funny (well now anyway) New Years Day story. This was way back in 1980. Back in the day New Years used to be a Holy Day of Obligation in the Catholic Church which meant you went to Mass. Since we really didn't celebrat NYE my Mom, Grandma and I all went to 7 am Mass. Mom and Gram walked over first since it took my them longer. When I got to Mass I mentioned to my mom about the ice on the bridge over the expressway (the Eisenhower for those of you who know the area). After Mass I started home without them to get breakfast started. Well guess who fell on the ice - me! Landed right on my rear end, but with my right ankle underneath! Knew the minute I fell that it was broken. Good thing is the fire house is right at the base of the bridge. Bad thing is the Ambulance was out getting gas. So they pull out two fire trucks, and since this is quiet Oak Park on a New Years morning they also scramble two cop cars. By this time my Mother and Grandmother are near the base of the bridge and wondering what has happened. A neighbor goes back to tell them it is me and my Mom starts running. The paramedic who is working on me sees this and yells "slow down mama - we only have room for one"! Fast forward to the hospital. They are wheeling my into X-ray and I go past a window that looks into the waiting room. There's my mom sitting holding my shoe. The funny thing is there are all these empty chairs around her but she's holding this old, dirty, wet shoe. It looked like I had been run over by a train and that is all she had left of me!

The break was a bad one so I needed surgery (the next morning) and still have the rod and pins to this day. If you see me limping now you know why. This ankle acts up if I walk too much on it - I've also developed severe arthritis in it.

So I guess this is one time when it would have paid to go out and celebrate on NYE and sleep it off the next morning! :rotfl2:
