OMG, that's a funny story, Cindy!!!

I have to relate to you about the concert ending with nothing. Last year, BNL was here for NYE also. We went to the concert and all was great. At midnight, we counted down, they sang Auld Lang Syne, and then one VERY somber song. Then, that was it, they left. No encore, nothing. I at least expected the evening to end with an upbeat tune. But sadly, NO!

Actually, had I thought of it a little earlier, I would have had a little party of our own for our friends with kids. We're thinking that we'll do it next year. But, instead of trying to get kids to stay up until midnight (since most of them are preschoolers), we're going to have a Noon Year's Eve party next year. All the celebration of NYE, but at noon for the kids!! Then, we'll have everyone just hang around until they want to leave. That way, everyone can still party, but be home to put their kids to sleep at a decent hour.

We can only book with Southwest until June right now. I got dinged $34 each way for January the other day and used every ounce of self control I had to not just book a little solo weekend for myself
I couldn't resist the Ding. I booked 1/26/-1/31 for myself-$90.40 r/t

Amy, that is an awesome idea!!!

Diana, what are you doing with the mom-group for NYE? Something similar to that? What a great idea.

Karen, have fun!!!

If I keep hearing about these Ding's, I just might have to rethink my plan of flying out of Midway Airport.

Sometimes, they have GREAT deals out of Midway on SW. I saw a DING fare to Chicago from Tampa for just over $100 round trip, but I couldn't make it work because it was for early December.

I have flown out of Midway only once. I won't ever again.

-The accident that happened, I am surprised it hasn't happened sooner. They barely have enough runway to support the bigger planes landing there and they use every inch even on good weather days.

-Because of the lack of runway, takeoffs and landings are... sudden to say the least. I call it jet carrier operations.

-It's in the middle of a neighborhood. Yes the street going to/from it is quite wide, but it's still a city street. It's way out of the way, even moreso for you than us Cindy.

I found out a little while ago that the countertop installers are going to be back here first thing Tuesday morning to finish the install of my kitchen counter and backsplash and to do the install of my bar counter top.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I will finally have my kitchen back!!!

We fly out of midway a lot and have never had issues. Yes it is short and landings can be more challenging but it is a lot easier to get to from here than O Hare and smaller to get around in. We actually do like it.

Flying out on Jan 22 from there for our next trip pirate:

My parents and sister are flying out on the 26th and coming back on the 30th, because they got the ding price.
What time is your flight down? Maybe you'll be on the plane together.
My Dad & sister are social butterflies so if your on the same plane you'll have no trouble talking with them. My mom on the other hand is a bit quieter.

Congratulations Amy. I know you will be excited to have it done and get back to a completed kitchen.

Is anyone planning on being at Animal Kingdom for the preview of the new ride? My DD just called and said she got an invite since they are passholders. (I was bragging to them last week that DVC members got to preview it) She has already made reservations at Animal Kingdom Lodge for the weekend. Guess I better get myself in gear tomorrow and call MS to see what is available. I would like to try and go down on Wednesday.

That's exactly what we are doing, only tomorrow. I have 10 moms with 15 kids coming here. :faint: I got horn noise makers too. I need my head examined.

As for regular NYE plans, in my 33 years, I have never ever, ever done anything on NYE. I always thought of it as a depressing holiday, I'm not sure why, I'm usually in bed by 10. I guess I knew what happened that particular year, and I'm celebrating the year to come, but what if it's not a good year, should i really be looking forward to it? :confused3 Oh well, so my friend was here one day with her boys and we have two arcade games in the basement playroom. Her boys played the games for like 2 hours straight and we didn't hear a peep from them. So she says, we're coming here for NYE and the boys can play and we can hang out, play pool, darts, whatever. So sure enough, it spun into a party! It's one of those, you can bring your kids parties, so who knows how that's going to work out. We have 6 couples and 12 kids coming. Once again, I need my head examined.

New Years Resolution: STOP VOLUNTEERING!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

We'll be there, but that's because it's only a 1.5 hour drive for us. I'm sure that we'll just be there for Saturday.

15 kids, no problem. I almost have that many here everyday. :teeth:

It's the horns that would do me in. :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :faint:

Have fun!!

I would be cheering too!! Having work done on the house is almost like torture! :scared1: Once it's done, all fine and good, it's getting there that's scary.

And, you've also been working on your bathroom at the same time.

Gosh, you are brave.

I think Stacy's Dad talked to every single one of us on the cruise. A very nice man with wonderful stories to share. :cheer2:

I'm really going to miss my before sunrise conversations with him. I doubt any of you guys will meet me up on the top deck at the crack of dawn! :rotfl2:

That's very sweet of both of you guys to say such nice things about dear old Dad! I can't wait to tell him.

Diana I would be more then happy to meet you on the top deck. That's one of the things I will strive to do on this upcoming cruise. To be up a little earlier to enjoy a wonderful sunrise! I did make it the morning we pulled into Castaway Cay. Plus since we chose the early dining this go around it should make it a little easier for me to get to bed a little earlier so I can get up a little earlier!
