Sue - I've sent you an e-mail with the early dining info.

Thanks again for all your help.

Give your best to my mom. Very glad to hear that nothing is broken!

Woo Hoo - got a top without trying! Maybe this will be a good day!

Work to be done! Back later!

I still have hope for this cruise. But last time, he was early to bed several nights. If this happens again, I'll join the club!

I could be there too! DH told tinkfan (Tina's) DH that he wasn't going to the clubs again. He got picked as one of the John Ravolta's last time on 70s night! I think he was kidding.

First night, it will be hard to tell. I also have a hard time sleeping in a new place, but it usually results in me waking up at the crack of dawn, not being unable to fall asleep. I'm thinking I'll be worn out from 2 park days, and will probably be in bed by 10:30 or 11, but you never can tell!

:umbrella: :boat: Good Morning!! POURING rain here!
At this rate, it could get ugly (the creek....)

Well, the morning posters did as good a job this a.m. as those chatty night owls!
I have replies, and then by the time I get done reading, I've forgotten them all.

Thank you Vicki!!

I think we are far too "advanced" (notice I didn't say old!) to be the DIS Darlings (except for our Jenny...and she IS a baby, but we knew that, and we love her anyway)
DIS Damsels?? or Dames...............

I probably would have stayed on longer last night...but I couldn't get back on. Guess we overloaded the system. Or made "The Administrator" mad!

Ohminnie.....Jay and I are giving eachother the cruise as a gift. That guarantees that I actually get a gift this year! (Other than a new out house).

The kids are only getting a couple of small things in their stockings. They'll find things they will want on the islands, so that can be part of their gifts.
It's such a nice feeling to have some of that done, isn't it?

Mentioning the pacifier made me think about Jordan. When she was little, she always had 3 of them. One in her mouth, and one in each hand. A pair and a spare.
One night, she was maybe not quite two....we went in her room, she had "lost" her binky. We looked everywhere, couldn't find it. So we gave her another one.
The next night, she lost it again, only this time she was laughing at us as we searched. Seemed a little odd, because usually, if she lost one, she cried. Jay went over to her, started searching, she had put it down the pant leg of her pajamas....and burst out laughing when Jay found it!!
That was back when she was cute and clever.............

Presents. We aren't really buying any. The cruise is for our immediate family. The in-laws told me NOT to buy for them, since we bought a number of things for them for the cruise, which they can still use. I sent those Christmas arrangements from our Boy Scout troop to the in-laws and my mom, and I'll buy something for my mom while we're on the cruise (her birthday is in Dec too). I have a couple of CDs for DD, and some sort of video game for DS to have on Christmas morning in their stockings.

Pacifiers. DS had to have two, one in his mouth, and one he rolled around in his hand. DD sucked her thumb instead. It was a whole lot easier throwing away the pacifiers than it was breaking that thumb habit!

DH was on travel when the kids were little, and he came home and told me about rescuing a dropped pacifier and getting it back to the family. He said he knew he had become a parent, because until he had kids, he never would have known how important that little thing was!!!

OMG! Say it isn't so!

Sorry, I don't like Junior either. Makes for a divided house. DH was a Dale Sr. and now a Dale Jr. fan, and DS and I are Jeff Gordon fans.

When DS was 6, he had his tonsils out while DH was on travel in Florida for a couple of weeks. A co-worker got me tickets to one of the Daytona preliminaries, so DH went. He got DS an "autographed" photo of Jeff. He still has it on his dresser, and hasn't yet figured out that the handwriting looks a LOT like Dads!

Happens to me every morning, Stacey! And we don't have a single hill in our yard. I take Maggie out. She prefers to do her business in the FARTHEST corner of the yard.....then it hits her!! THE PAPER!!! THE NEWSPAPER HAS BEEN DELIVERED!!! And she takes off at breakneck speeds, me running behind her as fast as I can to avoid being dragged along the ground. She gets to the end of the driveway and snags her prize!! Then darts as quickly as possible to the BACK door (of course!) but not without changing directions suddenly and abruptly several times to avoid the things that spook her (i.e. those big, scary green garbage cans)

By the time we get back I'm huffing and puffing and ready to go back to bed!

That's the good thing about having an ankle biter for a dog - as hard as he pulls, he probably won't knock you off your feet or pull you behind him. He does, however, pull the retractable leash out of your hand sometimes. I try to tell him that it will stop before it gets to him and the faster he tries to run away from it, the faster it's going to move towards you, but he just doesn't listen.

Of course, my dog is afraid of his own shadow and gets spooked by hiss dog food daily. If a piece falls off another piece, forget it, he's done eating for the day. He refuses to eat out of a bowl - it has to be a plate. If his food is in a bowl, it settles too much for him.::yes::

It's really bad when you use abbreviations when you talk. Like when I tell a "non-internet" friend something like "my dh called me from work the other day." and they look at you like "what in the *^#% is a DH?" :)

That's the problem I have too!!!! I'm always thinking "my ds, or my dd" and I have to stop myself!

We are definitely going to have to move this thread over to the community board. Way to good to let it die post December!

my pacifier story -
DD didn't take a pacifier or suck her thumb until at almost 3 yrs old she was making fun of the little guy across the street, "Mommy, why does Joey do this?" and in the mouth goes her thumb...... where it stayed for the next year.

DS did use a pacifier only the "NUK" type would satisfiy him. Our dog used to steal them all the time. I just got into the habit of buying a double pack each week at the grocery store. We had to put a gate up in the doorway to DS's room to keep the dog out. It didn't take her long to realize he dropped them while he slept. Not a good thing to have the dog steal the last Nuk at 2 am. I learned! Boy did I learn.

Ah, yes. I kissed my 7 yr old son today at Wal*mart and thought to myself "some day he's going to wipe the kiss off, groan, and have an elaborate death scene"

That's my DS! He stopped wanting goodbye kisses at about 9. He wouldn't kiss me when he earned his first boy scout rank, until they threatened to not give him his badge! But when he came home from summer camp, he came running to me and gave me a big hug and kiss! It did break my heart, but DD still takes public hugs and kisses from mom and dad!

Everything went downhill on Sunday! DM has been sick and she fell yesterday in the bathroom. She didn't break anything but it scared her. My house looks like a cruise ship with the bars I have on all the walls. Even in her bathroom I have grab bars on every wall. Then, I am taking a nap (stress related I am sure) one of the dogs gets sick all over the bed. yuk. We are supposed to leave for HH on Wednesday and I will have to cancel. I don't think DM is strong enough for the trip right now. I have to get her better for the cruise.

Sue, I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope she gets better! I'll tell the kids about the trash can story. I told you DS would start talking if you found something he was interested in!!

That is so true. Our views on a lot of things changed once the REALITY of parenthood hit us. I remember going to friends' houses who had kids and thinking "my house will NEVER look like this!" (cluttered, toys everywhere, peanut butter smears on the TV)
ALso, those "leash" things....I HATED them. Thought they were terrible and I swore I'd never use them. Until I had a two year old I was taking to an outdoor craft show in the woods and there was NO way I could get a stroller through there.

Ah, real life is so different than fantasy. ;)

:earseek: Jenny I knew you were young but my oh my, does 1978 make anyone else feel OLD!!!!!

Seriously, I'm so glad we have such a range of people on here. We probably run the gamut of demographics! That's what makes it fun.

As not to disappoint the chatty bunch from last evening...
busy, busy, busy weren't you all.

I was on at 9:30pm EST and had 10+ pages to read at 7:30 am. I think you all posted more pages in that 10 hours than we did all weekend.

Was that the kind of whining you all were expecting?

Yes, Vicki, that will do nicely. We aimed to please.

Therese, would you believe, I have a couple of Hattitudes hats around here somewhere! I used to collect the type of fashion dolls they make hats for. Still do, I guess, I have boxes of them around here.

Wow Diana - small world!

they are a great company - small but the products are so much fun!

Nothing like a different type of hat!

Vicki, you may know about these....

We had new binkies for KT before she was born...also the NUK type. But she ended up in ICU for 3 days after birth and they got her hooked on the Ross Lab ones--the vanilla scented ones. Well, after that she refused any other type. And you couldn't BUY them, you had to get them from a Ross rep. Well, luckily, we had a connection and got 12 of them. We left them on the coffee table and went to dinner.... We were HORRIFIED to come home to find out the cat loved them just as much as KT did--she had chewed through the packaging and destoyed 1/2 of them!!! :earseek:

We guarded those things with our life after that!!!

Wow, lots of posts to catch up on!

Busy weekend here. We had really nice meets with Sue and Tina (and family). It will be great seeing you all again!

Sunday we went and saw The Incredibles. I liked it, but thought it was too long. They could have cut 15 minutes from the middle part, and then I would have loved it. The kids enjoyed it, and we'll probably go see it on the ship again.

We do probably need a plan for getting GaRry post 15000. He definitely deserves it. Ideas anyone??
