Stacey - you never gave us your trivia question!

TRIVIA QUESTION

In the Haunted Mansion's "stretching room".......do the walls go up, does the floor go down, or is it neither?

Is it the same at WDW as it is at Disneyland?

Sorry Stacey - this one is too easy.

In Disneyland the floor goes down.

In WDW the walls go up.

Once again, Mary is correct.......

But WHY are they different????

A little bit of history that seems appropriate for today:

Ronald Reagan became one of the first persons to enter Walt Disney's Magic Kingdom when he served as one of three emcees for Disneyland's opening in 1955.

Well this part comes from a website. (you don't think I know everything off the top of my head do you? :) )

Okay, first of all, the stretch room was designed out of necessity. When the Disneyland's Mansion (just the building, not the ride) was built in 1963 it was still planned to be a walk-through attraction. For many years the building was just an empty skeleton while it waited for the Imagineers to finish up with their World's Fair business and start working on it again. They knew they could never fit the entire attraction inside the mansion you see, so they dug a very deep "basement" and then a tunnel from the basement under the berm and the railroad. When the attraction finally resumed construction in 1967 (I think) it had changed to become a ride-through. The stretch room takes you to the bottom of the basement, then you walk down the tunnel (as you pass the changing pictures and the "windows" with the storm outside. You don't get on the ride itself until you reach the exterior show building which is hidden behind the berm from guest view. If you really want to see the show building, try the monorail.

As for the WDW HM - well the room was so successful they had to keep it but didn't need to dig down (and remember that they had the utiladors and marshy ground) so they had the room go up.:D

Excellent!

But I am crushed.........I DID think you knew everything off the top of your head.
Reminds me of the time I was told that my hero, John Wayne, didn't know how to ride a horse, so he had a stunt man for the horse scenes! :sad2:

Ok - don't mean to crush you any more - but I don't know how to ride a horse either. :D

Well if you'll pay for my airfare and hotel (I've already got the AP). I'll fly down to spend time with jilljill and then be off the board so you can play trivia without us.:D

Oh well - bring on the trivia!

WELL now this post is really moving.
does it have to do with jilljill being GONE:hyper: ::yes:: :wave2: :teeth:

So we still haven't answered the buring question - did anyone call post #7000?

Virgil pirate: snatched #1000 on 12/25/03

jilljill princess: grabbed #2000 on 2/4/04

I :cheer2: took #3000 on 3/2/04

Gail :flower1: got #4000 on 3/20/04

Stacey :cool1: got #5000 on 4/13/04

Vicki :sunny: got #6000 on 5/28/04

#7000

#8000

#9000

#10,000 is claimed by gaRry

So has anyone claimed 7,000 8,000 or 9,000?

OK here are some numbers for you:

It took us 185 days to get from our first post to #1000

It took us 41 days to get from #1000 to #2000

It took us 27 days to get from #2000 to #3000

It took us 18 days to get from #3000 to #4000

It took us 24 days to get from #4000 to #5000

It took us 45 days to get from #5000 to #6000

How long will it take to get to new milestones.

Can you tell I've been home all day and on the DIS too much. ::yes::

Here are our post counts as of this moment (wow big surprise who has posted the most :) )

Wonder what has happened to so many of them :( I know some with only 1 or 2 posts just really stopped in but we haven't heard from some regulars in a while.

What's really embarassing about the number of posts that I have....I didn't sign up for the cruise until...what was it, October or something? Someone once told me that I talk too much. (Try my mother, my husband, every teacher I ever had....)

Getting ready for tonight's fun: Taking DS to the batting cages at a local funplex. The ogre is treating them to pizza & rides after batting practice. Maybe I was wrong about him.
Oldest DD is then coming down there to stay with DS till he's done while DH and I go play our two softball games. I couldn't weasel out of it this time...too many of our women are going to be out of town. Wish me luck that I don't end up in the ER.
Then DD is bringing the two younger ones to us. Son has to be there at 5:45, our games start at 7:00, but DD doesn't get off wok till 6:00. It's a juggling act, keeps me on my toes. I love it. Yeah, right.
Okay, so anyway...I won't be in chat, now that I finally learned how to do it.
Hopefully back to say good night.

Stacey
