2 Princesses, a mom and Grumpy-1st Trip Final Thoughts

Kindergarten wore Lindsey out. They expect so much more out of children these days. Lindsey would come home and a few minutes later she would be sleeping on the couch or in her bed. Poor little things just aren't built for it at 5 and 6. Sounds like a great program though!

Avery is such a sweetie! How cute :cutie:

They need more time to be kids! I am excited about all she will learn though.
She is almost as excited as I am

We also start in Aug. I am hopefully teaching pre school this year so will have to take the first day off to take Avery. She has half days for the first 3 days. She is already doing many of the things they do in K so I think she will have a fun year.

Here they only go 1 day the first week--so it's like 4 kids per day. That way the teachers can help them get used to school, the routine, etc.

I just registered Myles for kindergarten. We got our letter of acceptance last week. It's weird because he goes to preschool 8:30-3:30 Mon, Wednesday and Thursday but still the thought of that BIG school is so scary to me. I know I am going to LOOSE it after I drop off my baby boy to school on his first day- geesh I am crying right now thinking about it. For us, I have Fridays off and have since he was born, now it will just be me and Owen while big brother is at school. Owen and I have never really had that alone time, so it will be nice for him but I am really going to miss my Myles for sure.. so i know how you feel!! :scared:

Avery now goes mon-thurs 8am until noon. It is that extra day that is hard and the aft hours. I am going to ask for the first day off though it is also my first day teaching at the preschool.

She will do great! I have heard from SO many parents that you really want to have them do their routine the way it will be done- I had thought I would take the first week off and just be able to do all the drop offs and pick ups and be there for him all week, but in reality i will have to go back to work and his daddy will do the pick ups- much later than what I would do if I was home! So I am thinking that, it may be better for him if we start the routine the way it will always be done and then its not setting him up for a great first week and then a yucky second week!! :confused3 who knows its so confusing isnt it all!!?? :confused3

Just finished off all the paprerwork for Kindergarten registration. :scared1: I am sure going to miss my girl next year. Not to start a debate but I think full day kindergarten is to much for 5 and 6 year olds. But that is what we got. She is going to a school that uses the International Baccalaureate program. Very exciting. She is very ready to go and very excited. Not as excited as for our trip though. She tells me everyday that she is "my Disney buddy"
18 days
:banana::banana::yay::yay::cool1::cool1:

You get no debate from a sister redhead :thumbsup2. CONGRATS on the IB program, it will really make a big difference. I sent Amanda to half day and Tyler to full day and I swear that is why he ended up hating school so bad. Amanda has always been my scholar though and she excels in school. The hardest day you will face, at this point in their lives , is when you drive up to that school and let your baby out at school.

I totally agree with you on Kindergarten being way too long. It should be half day. When Kaylee started she was so exhausted after school too. Way too much for a 5 year old. The work was super easy for her though. Even though they start reading in Kindergarten it still doesn't need to be all day :goodvibes. Well you all know Thomas will be turning 5 on our trip. So I had to make a decision last week if he would be starting Kindergarten this fall. The preschool thinks academically he is fine but socially and maturity wise he is not ready :sad2: for full day Kindergarten. The teachers think another year would just give him a chance to grow more in these areas. I''m worried he will be bored though because he knows all his numbers, letters, colors since he was 2 and writes pretty good. Then they forgot to give him his lunch one day at preschool (duhh) and he sat there rubbing his eyes (upset) and would not even raise his hand to ask the teacher for help. Also he cried the first 6 months of preschool when we would bring him. So based on that I decided to just enroll him for preschool another year 3 days a week from 8-12:30. It was so hard to make this decision as I assumed he would be starting Kinder when Kaylee starts 4th grade. A couple of his friends that are academically and maturity way behind him (according to the school) are going to start Kinder anyway. The moms said they don't mind if their child get leftback in Kinder or first. Sorry to vent on your TR Mary but so glad to be able to share that with you moms.

You do have a point there. She will have to get there early since I work early-maybe I will start that the 2nd day.

Vent all you want. It is a hard decision. Cayley is a Sep 1 bday-the cutoff here in Az. Whether I send her I think will be based on maturity vs academics. I feel you can supplement the academics at home but not the "growing up" Do they have transitional kindergarten where you are? It is a program that does K like things and at the end you can either send them to K or if they are ready 1st grade. My friend was looking at it for her son but it was pretty expensive. My 2 cents is you know him best and another year to be a kid is a good thing in my book.

I want to join into the school talk! LOLOL

We were thinking about putting Juliana into a Pre-K program this fall. It's only 2 days a week Monday & Friday for 2 1/2 hours. But the town has another program that is free and its 5 days a week.... but it is for 4 yr olds. Seems like a lot for a 4yr old!:confused3

I guess it depends on the 4 year old. Avery goes 4 days 8-noon. She went 3 days when she was 3. I think I would start with less since you can always add more..

Hi Mary! Any big plans this weekend? Can you believe only 15 days to go! :cool1:

Hiya! Taking my mom's cat to get groomed, bday party for 2 of Avery's classmates, Avery has ballet, a BBQ-rib cook off, church and taking a dinner to a classmate of Avery's whose little sister just got out of the hospital. Oh, grocery shopping and :laundy: Not much LOL
You are doing your yard sale right? The are you going to shop on Sun??
I know 15 days-we can now say we are going to WDW this MONTH!!:banana::banana:
