***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

I just finished working. or got tired enough from the two glasses of wine I had to be "done." SOOOO Tired. what did I miss?
I used to do zumba and I miss it. I can't do it with kiddo in school, his needs after school come first :(

Quiet night tonight, Lisa...I think everyone has their plans set...for the most part. Some are onto packing lists, but I can't deal with that yet. I have a whole week between Thanksgiving and our trip, so I will procrastinate a bit more. Besides, I want a good look at the weather forecast closer to the end of the month.
 
You guys are making me want to try Zumba. There is a class really close to me. I'm not much of a dancer (I'm actually a certified yoga teacher but I don't teach a regular class anymore ). Quiet night, I'm working nights tonight.

I'm sorry to hear he hates Disney. BF is like that, but we have a VERY complicated situation and due to that situation I doubt we will ever travel anywhere together that doesn't involve the children (and certainly nothing elaborate and expensive like Disney together, that's for sure!) until his kids are out of college (the little one is in 4th grade so we have a long ways to go). His ex actually likes Disney and has taken the kids since their divorce (with the help of her parents) and they went a couple of times pre-divorce but he HATES it and is glad to not have to endure it. That's why I don't really spend any time planning when he is around. Over the weekend he decided he needed computer time (he reads tons of political blogs, I cannot wait until this election is over) so I opened my laptop and parked on the couch and wanted to indulge in a little DIS. he came over and read over my shoulder and was like "really? you're reading about DISNEY?" He already cast his vote so I told him me reading about Disney was way more pertinent than him reading about politics :P Anyway it's just annoying to be with a grump. My ex and I did not have a lot in common or a lot of spark and maybe were not right for each other but we both loved disney and he is so easy going he'd do whatever I want without much opinion (which is both good and bad lol). Sometimes I feel like people who don't like Disney DECIDE that they don't beforehand. I don't like this or I don't like that and once they have made up their mind it is hard to sway them even if it's the best trip of your life. I am always telling my child when he gets super negative about things "right now you are making a choice to see things that way. You could see things this way or this way or this way but you are choosing to see them the bad way" and that usually makes him think about the choices his internal voice is making at the moment. Too bad you can't say that to a grown man :P

anyway feeling really bummed right now for various reasons so sorry if I am being too heavy or negative.

I tell my son the same thing--he has a "remote control" and he can either hand it over to someone else and let them control his day, or he can take it in hand and "change the channel". . . etc, etc. He's ten, but going on TEEN. Sometimes. But not at Disney!!! :jumping1:

Zumba is a blast! I did it all the time with both pregnancies. Sadly, I just haven't had time.

Very good advice your giving your so if I may say so. We say something very similar to our daughter whenever she is feeling down, or more often when she is nervous (scared) about an upcoming event or challenge that lies in front of her. We tell her to "be the boss of her feelings." Not the other way around. In other words don't let your feelings totally control you and persuade you to make poor decisions. It's ok to have negative feelings from time to time like sadness, fear, nervousness. But she has to be able to know when to say enough is enough and take back control of her emotions.

I remember all throughout my childhood my Aunt had the popular Charles Swindoll quote hanging on her refrigerator door. I must have read it 1000 times growing up and it really did stick with me.

You'll be fine...little guys have STROLLERS!!!!! And mine could also sleep in a stroller through almost anything!
Agreed--my son's first trip (2 and 1/2 yo) he slept in the stroller next to the parade route. Through the marching band!

and @Lisa F , you are so right--there are ALWAYS meltdowns at WDW! For children and parents alike! And they usually get "lost" in the crowd. When my son reacts to someone else's tantrum, I reassure him that they just need a break. Helps him build empathy, too. ; )
 
All so very true. It's a funny thing that before we had our first child I never really paid any attention to other people's parenting styles or "skills" for lack of a better word. But after she was born I seemed to notice everything around me. Whether at a family get-together, or even watching strangers in public.

I can recall when DD was born we wanted to be perfect parents (no such thing BTW) that whenever she began to cry, or as a toddler throw a fit, we realized we were worried more about what family, friends, and even strangers around us were thinking. We didn't want to be perceived as being overwhelmed or unable to deal with the situation. It took some time but we eventually realized that every parent has these moments and we were no different.

I will say though, that I believe the old saying about a dog being able to "smell fear" also applies to children when it comes to thier parents. That is to say that if a parent is feeling anxious or uncomfortable about a situation, I believe the parents child(ren) will pick up on it and become anxious or uncomfortable themselves. I think it is every parent's instinct to care for thier child(ren) first and themselves second. But IMHO, this might be backwards. Think of when you are on an airplane and the flight attendant tells you that in an emergency, put the air mask on yourself first, then your child. Proof that you are better suited to help your child if your not struggling and gasping for air. This rule might apply to more than just airplanes. I can't say for sure though, as I am still learning myself.

If you read all of this, you owe me $0.01. Because that's about all it's worth.
LOL--you used my line! Not that it is original to me, of course, but in sessions with clients (I am a clinical social worker) especially MOMS, I always refer to the "place the air mask on yourself before attempting to assist others" to remind people of self care being vital to how we can care for others. DEFINITELY not applicable to only airplanes!
 
I plan keeping DH in mind actually because I know he's not that into it. Thanks so much for the words of encouragement :worship: you guys are all really the best! :love:
My DH is not a Disney fanatic like me, but trust me when I say your DH WILL love seeing your son's face and eyes light up!
And FYI, the worst melt downs I have seen at WDW were adults. Just saying.

Probably will order at least one adult and one child. We will have plenty of quick service credits to use. Anyone been that can enlighten me to the portion size? We're not huge eaters and when we go to texmex my husband and I share an entree. I suspect my 3 and 5 year olds can share a meal easily.

For the rest of the meals that day my DH&DS will eat quick service lunch (they will probably share something) and DD&i will eat lunch at CRT at 12:55 so we do need to get some food in our tummies at our 8am breakfast. Dinner is at 7:10 at BOG again for all of us.
 
Anyone want this? I mistakenly picked this up thinking it was for 12/4. This is not a PPO, the park opens at 8am.

Good morning everyone! Once again back at my desk. Finally really feeling better after this sinus infection, and looking forward to getting in a run on my lunch break. Of course, that's exactly when it's supposed to rain, but I packed my waterproof jacket and hat, so I should be good to go! :umbrella:

I had a quick question to ask of the SDFP experts here. :confused: Since my reservation was originally for 2 people, and I couldn't be bothered to call in and try to modify it, I could potentially get 2 magicbands. Is there any way I could use the 2nd mb for SDFP? I don't think there is, since I don't have a ticket to assign to the band, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any secret tricks!


My DD was a "sport" dancer....believe it or not I was a Dance Mom...competition dance is a whole other world! Her favorite was tap...taught her own class senior year. She also loves Zumba in college. Her favorite class is "Glow"...Zumba in the dark with glo bracelets. Wish I could Zumba, but my lousy health holds me back! I'm always dancing in my head!!!

Nice! Dance Mom, lol. I never got into the competition side of it. We usually did one each year, but my real love and focus was on the shows/recitals. I'm not really a big team sport-competitive type of person, lol. And sucks about the health holding you back! Maybe you could find a way of modifying to be able to do a version of it? I obviously have no idea, since I don't know what the health concerns are, but just a thought that popped into my head!

You should do it! It's soooooo much fun! Doesn't matter if you're a dancer or if you have 2 left feet, every Zumba instructor I've ever encountered has always said the most important thing is to just keep moving and have fun!

According to some reviews I see, the meal is not large. But there is a basket of pastries that can be shared so there is usually more than enough food. :) it's a good use of QS though in terms of value.

@Mintycake I love your technique for going to sleep!! Gratitude ranks right up there with one's attitude I think. I've found that grumpy and grateful can't mutually coexist. During hard days or tough times, I start putting my focus on what I'm grateful for and it usually helps. Not always! lol But often. :) I'm going to try listing things at night as you mentioned. That's a great idea!! :thumbsup2 ETA: Congrats on the contract--very exciting!!

I feel like a hamster on a wheel trying to catch up with this thread! Every time I stop for a breath there are pages more, lol!

My 3 things:
1) I am going to WDW next month, and thought I was an "expert" at planning Disney. Then I found this thread! I have already learned so much, and I feel like I have a support group who also LOVE Disney as much as I. I am so grateful for this group of smart, helpful, funny people!:rainbow:


2) My sister is coming up to TN for Thanksgiving, so it will be 4 of us instead of our usual 3. Happy to have a "full" table, lol!:hyper2:

3) I get to go to WDW with my son during our first year home schooling. The teacher has NO problem with a trip to WDW. I checked. :joker:

I think you could totally use the other band for SDFP! You won't be able to do it in advance because there are no tickets linked but it won't have any fast passes previously on it so you should be good to go. I'd make sire the order it in a different color so you don't get confused!
