***1st Week of December Thread ADR Plans, Park Hours, and dealing with Pop Warner***

It was a second grader of mine that called me "Mrs. Incredible" when the movie first came out...so cute! Thus the avatar

Oh, I'm glad you said this because I meant to ask what grade each of you taught! So I see you're a saint, too! lol ;)

The boats are every 20 minutes so that is pretty much worst case scenario of JUST missing a boat

Okay, that's what I was thinking. We currently have a reservation there for 1:45 on the day we have EMM. Yes, I know that breaks your 6-hour rule ;) , but dh is sure he'll be ready to eat again by then. I think the man is afraid I'm going to make him go hungry all the time! Anyway, I expect we'll be eating our breakfast in a bit of a rush so it'll end up being on the small side, even though it's buffet.

I went to Michael's after Home Depot, but didn't see any there. They did have some really cool things there too!

Got some Disney things done today. Ordered our custom Harry Potter shirts on Etsy, ordered my SDFP magic bands, bought some things for our resort window decorations, and started my packing list.

One thing I've been wrestling with a little bit is our Cali Grill dinner. So that day (12/7) we're going to US/IOA for the day. Park closes at 7, so we'll stop by the room at AoA to freshen up, then Uber over to Contemporary for our 9:30 ADR. We'll likely just order some apps and dessert; pretty sure I'll be hangry if I wait that late for dinner but we've never been able to get a Cali ADR so we're excited to see Wishes from that view! Anyway, I'm really not sure what to wear. I know MK has late hours that night and I want the option of heading over to MK after the fireworks and our ADR, so I want to look appropriate but also be able to potentially tour MK afterwards. DH will probably change into a polo shirt, shorts, and sneakers. I have no idea what to wear myself though...especially footwear because I really think that shoes tie an outfit together. I don't want to look like a slob, but I also want to be comfortable! Suggestions?

Can you wear a pair of fancy flip flops or very strappy sandals (small and light ) that you can swap for good walking shoes and shove in a bag to carry with minimal fuss ?

That's actually a pretty good idea. Although I'm a size 10, so nothing small about my shoes! :rotfl2:
I do have these Crocs slide sandals that may work though:

A pair of capris and a dressy (non character or writing) t-shirt would probably be okay, right?

Thsts my personal guideline lol. Some men have hollow legs!

I love fashion, but as I've gotten older, comfort is more important to me. We have several signatures, but I plan on either being in a park or hitting one after. I comply with the dress code, but don't go above it. I plan to wear what I'll wear to the parks (jeans, a nice shirt, Disney or not, and comfy shoes like flip flops, or black Skechers). With my jeans, my shoes will barely be noticeable and frankly, my comfort is more important considering I have to be on my feet for like 12 days straight.

Per Disney signature dress code:
Men may wear khakis, slacks, jeans or dress shorts and collared shirts. Sport coats are optional.

Women may wear Capri pants, skirts, dresses, jeans or dress shorts.

Not permitted are tank tops, swimsuits, swimsuit cover-ups, hats for gentlemen, cut-offs, torn clothing and t-shirts with offensive language and/or graphics.

LOL me too but I'm only 5'5. I have great big monkey feet . But still those should do nicely. I never dress up too much, I'm always going to the parks .

Thanks to both of you for the feedback. I've actually never eaten at a Signature restaurant, so really not sure what the dress code is. Comfort is definitely key for me...I can't wear heels anyway because of my knee, but I don't want to feel out of place either. I think I have a good idea of some things I can wear that would work. Honestly by that point I may not care and will wear what I want. LOL

Honestly, the people that dress up and wear heels are crazy in my mind. First off, it's Florida, which tends to be more casual, and second it's Disney, a theme park community. No restaurant there is easy to get to unless you're staying at that resort, so there is always a big walk (heck no on the uncomfy shoes and long walks). Oh, and there is no info on shoes on the dress code.

ETA: But a PRECIOUS age group!!

I spent several years as a full time middle school aide for students on IEPs and a year as a middle school science teacher. Grades 5-8. A challenging age for sure, but fun too.

@areno79 I agree with everyone else, comfort trumps fashion. Yes it's a signature restaurant , but it's in a theme park setting, not "the real world", lol, so I feel different rules apply. Clean, neat, and presentable, but no need for fancy, uncomfortable shoes

I can't really reply the way I would like to since I am on my phone but wanted to say in our life, teachers have been angels. I get really choked up when I think about the love, nurturing and care my special needs son has gotten from his teachers. I could not do it but so grateful for those who can and do so well.

@Talby Thanks for the info regarding DS! My family can meet us in DS after their JBJB dessert party for dinner. Sounds easy enough. :)

Big Halloweekend (;) ) for us around here. DD1 has been loving getting to wear her costume yesterday, today and of course tomorrow. DH is planning to take her out while I stay home and pass out candy. DD2 will be with me in her costume. It's been all very exciting around here lately!

Hope you all have a great day tomorrow, and stay safe!

DD1 doesn't know yet, but the candy tax collecter, aka DH, gets to take 30% of whatever she gets. ;)

Middle School---YOU are the saint!

Ok, bragging moment, lol. I am so proud of my pumpkins! Especially Nemo, because I did NOT do a good job of transferring the stencil onto him using the toothpick method, so aside from the cutout that is his forehead area, I free-handed the whole thing while looking at the stencil. Eee! I am so pleased with them! I swear, if something eats them I'm gonna be so sad! Lol

Impressive job! Love them!

Second graders are really the best!

I miss all the elementary years so much!! Particularly on days like today; there are no Halloween parades in middle and high school!

Teachers really set the stage for a child's attitude toward learning, I think. We were beyond blessed with the elementary school as a whole and the individual teachers my kids had. Both were heavily influenced by their teachers and I'll be forever grateful.

We're in the midst of having my DD's senior pictures done. DD commented how she wanted to send a photo to all her teachers at Tobey (the name of the elementary school). That snowballed into what will be a mini photo shoot at Tobey. She'll be on the playground, with the school in the background, wearing her graduation cap and holding a chalkboard sign with the school motto "Once a Tobey Tiger, Always a Tobey Tiger." Oh man....I'm getting all teary eyed just typing this! haha! I'm so emotional about this graduation stuff!

Teachers make a difference!! Thanks to all of you!! :flower3:

Middle School---YOU are the saint!

It's funny because middle school was not a fun time for me when I was attending (super shy+nerd, lol), and my background was actually in elementary ed, but I really ended up loving the age group. Definitely a difficult age, but a lot of fun too. I had thought I would hate it, lol.

And Happy Halloween everyone! I am currently rocking my Halloween leggings, spider earrings, Trick-or-Treat necklace, and Halloween charm bracelet in my office today, lol. I am perfectly proud to admit that I am, and always will be, a big kid at heart! Dr.'s appt at lunch, and then I think I'm going to take the afternoon off to continue to recuperate. Will be nice to see some of the earlier trick-or-treaters for once. Anyone else have any fun Halloween festiveness today?

princess::chewy: :clown: In honor of Halloween, and knowing there are lots of parents and those with little ones in their lives here:

Why did the witches cancel their baseball game?
They couldn't find their bats.

How do you make a skeleton laugh?
Tickle his funny bone.

Why don't ghosts like rain?
It dampens their spirits.

Why do witches wear name tags?
So they know which witch is which.

Why didn't the scarecrow eat dinner?

He was already stuffed.

Non-Halloween, but these are my all-time-fave kid jokes:

What do you call cheese that isn't yours?
Nacho cheese.

Why was the baby ant confused?
Because all his uncles were ants(aunts). :lmao:
