Friday 22nd October 2010
We were all up bright and early to get to Epcot for opening. Kieran was especially excited as we would be going to his favourite place the shop in Japan.
Here we all are at the entrance:
We spent the morning doing as many rides as possible. Wait times were low for most things, usually 5-10 minutes, and we used fast pass for Soarin and Test Track.
Mandy and I at the fabulous fountain.
We also did the new attraction Captain EO which has replaced our old favourite Honey I Shrunk the Audience. We were not impressed. Its just a bit bizarre! Yet the Americans appeared to love it, judging by all the cheers and clapping at the end. I hope they replace it with something new very soon.
Mandy and Kieran taking a break
We stopped for lunch at The Electric Umbrella, which the children all like. I actually had a kids meal as I wanted to save room for all the other food we had planned for the day!
After lunch, we made a start on World Showcase. It was the 15th food and wine festival, so we tried a few things. They were ok, but to be honest we found it quite expensive for samples that were really only 2 or 3 mouthfuls.
Here we are with glasses of wine which were surely the smallest we have ever had!
We stopped in Norway to buy one of our favourite snacks Schoolbread for me and Maddie and Apple Danish for Tony, with coffee of course. Delicious.
Mid-afternoon, we took the boat from International Gateway to The Beach Club for ice-creams at Beaches and Cream. Tony and I had a no Way Jose each and Maddie had Chocolate brownie with ice-cream plus a huge strawberry milkshake. Mandy had the biggest banana split in the world, Peter had a big strawberry thing, Kieran a chocolatey one and Andrew had a milkshake.
Waiting impatiently
Here's kieran with his, plus there's Mandy's banana split in the foreground.
Here's ours, almost ready
They really were delicious. I'm pretty sure no-one left a single scrap.
Mandy and I love travelling on the boat, so while the others walked back to Epcot (which was actually quicker) we took the boat back.
Maddie, Kieran and Andrew on the walk back.
We continued around world showcase and finally reached Japan, where Kieran raced to the Pokemon section. He collects the Pokemon plush toys so we all bought him some for his birthday which was coming up shortly.

Maddie in the UK
The temperature had been steadily increasing from the low 80's at the beginning of the week to around 90 degrees today and we were flagging a bit.

Me and Tony
We finished our day at Epcot by doing Figment which we had to do in honour of Cal who wasnt with us and loves that ride and because its tradition. And also another go on Soarin (front row again) and Spaceship Earth where we sent some e-mails home.
We contemplated staying another hour to see Illuminations, but were all too tired, so returned home to the villa where we threw a quick meal together of pizza, texas toast, chicken tenders, crisps and cheesecake.
We noticed that the pool engineer had finally been out and fixed the pump on the pool so the water was much warmer. Though so far, we have barely had time to use it anyway.
We sleepily watched a bit of American football, chatted about our day and wrote up our journals before falling into bed.
Tomorrow: Some serious shopping and Islands of Adventure in the dark.
