$190 housekeeping charge

Did she use a Travel Agent? When I had this kind of problem called my Travel Agent and they took care of it. They had to go to some Disney Cruise Line management to do it but that is why I use a travel agent. They can take care of things like this.

Just let them know what you just said. Try to be calm, OK?

I imagine they are doing this because the pillow was not found by housekeeping; not because of a teen (what teen would want that pillow? not me as a teen, that's for sure), but just because they didn't find it.

Just let them know.

Is there any chance, since the pillow was under the bed that something was spilled on it and it was damaged, not stolen.

My first thought was that it could have rolled under the spacious room under the bed. However my next hope would be that housekeeping would have been cleaning the room THOROUGHLY and that includes under there. How could she have missed it? Unless someone else is in charge of walk thrus? Doesn't make much sense tho. The crappy thing is if you are gonna be charged for it, you might as well at least have it, but it stinks because you don't have it. Its kinda hard to pack anyway.

Did u use a CVP with Dis? Mine was able to help me even after my trip straighten something out. She was my go to person.

I think that as much as we'd like to believe the contrary, many cabin stewards don't look under the beds when cleaning. I bet it's still under the bed.

Thanks everyone for all your responses.
Yes, my sister did contact her cc company right away.
I will speak to someone at the cruise line later today and I will try to remain calm. I will let you know what happens.

This is weird. Why is your sister charged when you booked the room on points. That would most likely make you the lead guest and I would think if they were charging for something like that it would be charged to the lead guest?

It wouldn't surprise me.

If you file a CC dispute (which I think you definitely need to do), it is basically your word against DCL's. They really have no way to prove you took something out of the room, so I'm fairly confident they would rule in your favor.

This is why I think DCL needs to have a more involved inventory process of the rooms if they are going to charge guest's credit cards for missing items. Either 2 things will happen with these charges - 1.) the guest won't notice or care enough to dispute the charge and DCL gets the money even if there wasn't something missing or 2.) the guest disputes the charge and DCL has no way to prove it.

It probably all evens out in the end for DCL. But I think each stateroom host should do a walk-through of the room with guests both when they check-in and when they check-out to make sure everything is accounted for.

now you're talking....something's amiss here, methinks

I like this idea too....
How do you prove you didn't take something out of he room? Or that your wave phone was there when you left?
I can't imagine ......how frustrating.
But then again, a stateroom host is so busy that morning, I don't think time would permit this.
And even if they did a walk through, say before breakfast, what would stop someone from going back in?
Maybe the pillows need some sort of sensor on them if they are that much in demand...and $200!!! Wow.

The sister is probably the one who left her credit card for room charges.

Well typically each adult can add a charge card to their account, so you can have more than one card to each room ,but if something goes missing typically the lead guest would be charged.

Make sure she confirms the room number and address. A co-worker of mine just had this same issue and was charged over 200. She kept calling and complaining and they were giving her a run around. But when she said her adress it wasn't the same as the person they meant to charge. Perhaps they are having a computer glitch.

We were all in the same cabin and the pillow was there when we arrived.

As I give all of this some thought I remember looking for something my niece misplaced and saw the pillow under the bed!
How do I tell them that? Isn't it still our word against theirs?
Why would they not check and what does it say about their housekeeping?

Sorry duplicate!

?????

You see a $189 pillow under the bed and don't retreive it? Really......

Just saying......

The pillow wasn't placed under the bed by housekeeping. Maybe someone moved the pillow prior to turndown (could have been under there a while) and it ended up under the bed. If the pillow was in place at turndown, the housekeeper would have moved the pillow the last night like every other night. I suspect the pillow was missing for a while. I am not 100% sure it is the cruise lines responsibility to look under the bed for the misisng pillow.

My sister has been handling it but when she got this e mail she was very upset and I thought it was time for me to step in.
I am the dvc member,I booked the cruise. It seems to me they targeted my sister for the missing pillow because she has a 14 year old.

Targeted??? Oh come on... The pillow is missing. Either the guest took it, or someone left the door open and someone else took it as a souvenir. Or it fell behind the bed and stupid housekeeping flagged it as missing.

But that they targeted because she has a 14 yr old??? That's pushing it...

as far as a walk-through goes: nice idea but hardly enforceable. Did you ever stay at DVC resort. The list of what is in your room (as far as kitchen utensils) becomes almost a suggestion list. I think everyone SHOULD check it, but c'mon....do you read all terms of agreement when you click on websites? and you're not even on vacation then!

maybe we're all getting responsive to a post which deserves to be watched for an outcome? don't know...just sayin'

As some of the dis boarders have said..... why wasn't I charged the $190 fee for the pillow since I am the DVC member and made the reservation. That's the only reason why I had the thought of the 14yr old being flagged.

All of the adults in the room put their own cc# on file for charges.

As far as retrieving the pillow... we were in a panic trying to find a missing item, I saw it and just moved on with what we were looking for. They wanted us off the ship.

I don't think its too much to think that housekeeping would check under beds for any missing items. I also did not give much thought to the cost of the pillow.

Anyway, I spoke to DCL this morning and the inquiry is ongoing.

Housekeeping does not always clean under the bed. When we went to store suitcases under the bed (on the Wonder) we found a a fleece blanket with an airline logo on it....
