150 Club...care to join???

Hi everyone.... I was wondering if it would be okay for me to join this thread. I read the last few pages but likely won't have the time to read all 200+.

I would really, really, really like to see 150 again someday. My current weight is about 198, at 5'8". I started Feb 6 at 217, so I am down about 19 lbs.

I basically follow a calorie restriction diet. I try to stay between 1200-1500, 1200 on non-exercise days and 1500 on exercise days. Exercise is Monday and Friday at the gym, 30 min on the elliptical trainer, and a weight circuit (express at my gym, takes about 10-15 min) that is 30 reps each of chest, back (pulldown/row), legs (curl, press), triceps, biceps, shoulders.

Wednesdays I play 1.5 hours of ice hockey, and I am also going to try to fit in a lunch hour hockey practice once a week.

My DH is on this with me, but he isn't as committed. We are a childless couple in our 30s (31 for me, 36 for him). We both love food and :drinking1 ... the latter is what is really a struggle.

My biggest challenges are finding quick food items that still fulfill me, and, of course, sticking to it even when life throws things at you. I am definitely an emotional eater, and I am very easily tempted off the path.

Anyhow, that was long, and I hope it was okay to post it all!

Welcome Kat.:yay: :yay: We always like new members. YOu might want to check back a few pages where we all reintroduced ourselves to get to know us but you will get to know most of the regulars pretty fast.

I stepped on the scale this morning and I think I gained about a pound. We don't have a digital scale, so I'm guesstimating that the needle went slightly up instead of slightly down. Without a doubt, it's closer to 170 than 165. Maybe it's those little chocolate Easter Eggs.

Yesterday the UPS guy came right during my bike ride, so I hit only 7 miles out of the 10 I wanted. It was too hard to get back into my groove once I got off the bike. Today I did 10 miles. It takes me 29-30 minutes to do 10 miles. I'd like to increase my mileage, but

1. My exercise bike is boring and mentally 30 minutes is pushing it.
2. I don't have more than a 1/2 hour to spare when I do my biking.

So, I'm going to keep on plugging on with 10. Hopefully when the weather gets warmer I can do some walking. We bought a new car, so walking will be just me and the kids instead of me, the kids, and the dog. I don't want the dog stinking up and shedding in the new car yet. LOL

Tomorrow is our annual homeschool review. I have to show all of our work for the year and fill in a detailed form about our curriculum. I'm sure it'll go OK, but getting my stuff packed for the review and doing the form is a lot of work. I'll be glad when it's all finished.

Michele, good luck on earning your money! It sounds like a good deal!!

Kat, welcome! : )

Everyone else, I hope you're all doing OK and are staying on track.

Hi all!

Michele-I have to agree, I weigh myself too often. I try to do it once a week, but it really doesn't work. I think it just fustrates me. I also LOVE your DH's incentives. I may just have to use the idea with my family. We are really trying to go to WDW in Dec, but worried about saving enough $$. This may certainly help us along. Biggest pitfall is DS is starting college this fall. That may play a big factor in our final decision.

Maria-Crocs! Wow! I look at them, but haven't ever bought any. I think about it, but I have to wear orthotics and don't know if it is possible to wear them long term without issues. DH always has mini rewards for me, just lately I haven't really been able to meet any. Just sitting stale mate. Summer is coming. I have got to get to under 200! I will get there. TM is still out, but weather has been great! Dog loves it!

Pixiedust-yep, brownies are always delious. Never thought of making them smaller so that there are fewer to eat. They still don't last long no matter what. Now, you said your exercise bike is boring. On the treadmill I would watch DVD's on a portable player. I would watch Disney singalongs and any live concert dvds we have. It helps. It also covers up the numbers so I don't stress over how much or how long.

pindecisive-wonderful on the compliment. It always is great to get them, they are good inspirations.

Michelle-kids, they are our life and yet we long for one. If I am not at work, I am at home or with family. I also get into a gloom and wish I had more time to myself. As parents, we need time to spoil ourself, even if it is a quiet moment with a cup of tea and a book. Grab a few moments for yourself! Give yourself a hug! And anytime you need to grumble, we are here!

Hi Dona! Hope you are feeling well and doing great!

Welcome Kat! You will enjoy it here. I agree with Dona, go back and read our current re-introductions. We are here whenever!

Well, quite a babbling post! DS went to dr's today. We don't have to do shots, but just tighten down on his newest meds. He was given steroids today to help with the skin issues. He is to carry a dual epi-pen. When he goes off to college, we have to encase his bedding and make sure he will keep his room as dust mite free as possible. lol I am sure that is going to be the hardest thing of all!

Well, time to get the family into the good night mood!

Thanks for letting me babble!

Wendy

I really have nothing new to report. I weighed myself with Karina and she is 14.2 pounds now. She seems to gain about a pound a month. I'm under the impression that this is not a lot. She has gained exactly 5 pounds since birth and she is 6 months old. She is just a shrimpy little thing! Her sister on the other hand, has been in the 90th-95th percentile for height since she was about 12 months old  she's gigantic. She grows out of her clothes within a couple of months, it's very hard to keep up with her! Anyway, I had a bad day of eating yesterday, I mde BBQ pork sandwiches, very good. DS just loved them at eat more then one sandwich (okay, I wanted a fainting smilie right here, but I can't get it to work!!! ) Its all good though.

Wendy, I wish your DS good luck in keeping out the dust mites in college. Is he staying in a dorm? I hope his roommate is clean enough. I'm just remebering my barracks days here :scared:

Kelly, I have the same problem working out on a bike or TM. I just don't have the attention span for it.

Kat, WELCOME! Just jump right in start losing.

Maria, I think I will pamper myself next week, its my 30th bday on the 24th and I think I might hit the day spa.

Dona, Hello how are you?

Good night ladies, I'm going to bed.

Good Friday Morning

I have to write a quick hello before all the calc 1 kids come in for extra help for their test today.

My taxes finally got filed and I had my last evening meeting for the week last night. (4 this week TOO much) This is the best I have felt all week.

The sun is shining for the first time in over a week and it promises to be warm into next week. Dh is going with a friend to VA tonight to see the ponies, ds2 is going to a movie with a friend and I don't expect to see ds1 so I have a free evening to get ready for my mystery quilt class tomorrow. I can't wait.

Shelly don't worry about the little one. My ds1 was always 90 - 95 % and ds2 was always a lot less. At almost 17 ds2 is now as tall as ds1 and I never thought that would happen.

Wendy I'm glad to hear that ds does not need shots. I understand about the dust mites and I have to think about them when ds2 goes off to college.

Kelly Good luck with the review of the homeschooling. A friend of mine in NC is homeschooling and she has been doing it for 10 or 11 years now. You all should be commended for doing such a great job with your kids.

Kat How is is going?

Michele Congrats on such a great incentive.

Maria Keep up the good work. I packed my healthy lunch all week and tomorrow I get back to exercise.

Jen How is it going? It must be tough to lose weight working in an ice cream shop. BUt if anyone can do it you can.

To anyone I missed Have a great day. I think spring is finally here in the northeast.

I never did get around to making my brownies yesterday because I was too busy packing all of our materials for our homeschool review. Maybe I'll make them this weekend.

Tonight the kids are going to an activity for two hours, and dh and I are going to get a pizza at a restaurant we can walk to while the kids are at their activity. I'm going to try to do an extra bike mile to make up for that pizza. But the pizza will be really good! :smooth:

The TV in the bike room isn't hooked up to cable and I have a choice of only a few boring channels. That, plus it's an old TV and it doesn't work well in the first place. We're hoping to get a new TV up there sometime. Lately, I've kept some Disney Trivial Pursuit cards on my bike and sometimes I use those for something to read and think about while plugging away. (I don't think that Disney ever strays from my brain regardless of what I'm doing. :lmao: )

I hope that each of you will have a happy and healthy day!

Good day ladies. I hope everyone is keeping to their diets today because I'm not :lmao: I'm feeling much better today. I am done with the homework I was supposed to do for today. I still don't feel like going to the gym though, I'll start back up on Monday.

Dona, Congrats on finishing the taxes. Isn't it a great feeling when nothing is weighing on your shoulders?

Kelly, Disney is always on my mind too. Disney Movies, Play House Disney, the DIS, and TGM. I do nothing else!! Except maybe do my schoolwork once in awhile  Oh yeah, and I listen to WDW background and attraction music on Live 365 all the time.

Have a great day and I'll catch you all tomorrow.

I am so glad that I am not the only one who listens to the Disney attractions all day long :) I get to work at 8am, sign on my computer, go to Live 365 and listen to the Disney music until I leave work at 5pm. Love it!!! :)

I have a CD in my car that DH made me from live365... all day, every day. Trip in this morning was Illuminations area music.

Yesterday I was terrible... pizza, wings, beer. Today, however, I played an hour of ice hockey at lunch, and actually was on the ice most of that hour since it was practice. I then went to the gym after and did some abs and weights. The shower at the gym is WAAAY nicer than the rink, and they are both close to work.

I am really lucky that my boss lets me take a 2 hour lunch and make up the time.

This week I have been good except Thurs. I stuck to 1200-1500 cals (*even though Wed 700 of them were beer), and did elliptical/weights Mon, hockey Wed/Fri, and a few weights today.

Losing the almost 20 lbs that I have so far has made me feel SOO much better. I am still heavy, but I am starting to actually see a shape in the mirror again.

Well I went into LAWL this morning for my weigh in and I've only lost 2 lbs since last friday but I got that monthly thing yesterday so I'm retaining water right now or at least that is my story and I'm sticking to it :rotfl2: I also workout at Curves 3 times this week which I feel good about. I've got another 32 lbs to make it to the 150 club so hopefully I can make it. If not I will be happy in the 160's.

The weather here has been depressing for April. If only it was rain but the past 2 days we have had snow and well :sad1: I've really been looking forward to sunshine and warm weather to start walking in.

Anyways that all that new with me.

I'm glad everyone is doing well.

Jennifer

Hello

Jennifer...good job on the WI. I agree on the dismal April. Ours was rainy and snowy.

Kelly...I have live 365 on at home alot. Espcially enjoy the evening when they do Illuminations. (sigh....) Just made my heart lonely with the thought!

Kat...never thought of doing a CD from the station. They do play some things I have only heard at WDW and aren't available on any published CDs. I wish I had a flexible work day. A long walk in the middle of the day would be nice.

Becky...could we all be fanatics? :goodvibes

Michele...I think he should ok, the only problem is that they now have carpet in the rooms, where they didn't before. Guess he's gonna have to learn how to use a vaccum!

Dona...We also mailed taxes on the last day. Guess that's what happens when you owe!

Maria and Michelle...hope you guys are having a great week.

Off to go for a walk with Disney Music! :yay:

Wow! This thread has really been hopping over the last few days! Excellent!

Ok, so my official weigh-in isn't until next Wednesday, but I was down 3 lbs. this morning from last Wednesday. It really was TOM, and I'm hoping to continue to see those numbers go down. I have reallly, really been sticking to my points and exercise since I saw that number go up. I knew intellectually what was going on, but it still made me more cognizant of everything I do.

I actually switched to Cheerios as my "weekend" breakfast. We usually have oatmeal or cream of wheat during the week, but on the weekends I let ds eat junk cereal, and I was having Great Grains. I finally wised up and pointed it out. That stuff seems like it's great for you -- but it's 4 pts. for a half cup! Cheerios are 2 pts. for a whole cup. That was a no brainer switch. I was just pouring a giant bowl and not measuring. I'm measuring now!:rotfl:

I had five workouts last week, and tomorrow I'm doing my long run. I'm up to 3.75 miles. It's slow progress, but I am going to be ready to do the Donald in January. I just hope there's less of me to run!:thumbsup2

We have a birthday party tomorrow afternoon, and I'm starting to think of ways I can graciously decline the cake. The other parents never eat cake at ds's parties, so I bet no one will think twice when I say, "No, thank you." I always accept food when it is offered, so this is a radical idea for me. Yes, I am a total wimp.

Wendy-- I'm not sure if you could wear the Crocs since you need orthotics. They are very comfortable, but I wouldn't call them supportive. It's more of a foot massage while you walk than anything else. I bet your dog is loving having you for those nice walks!:dogdance:

Jennifer -- Don't be depressed. TOM will get you, just wait until it all whooses away! I agree about the warm weather. We finally had our first day of sun and warmth today, and it felt like such a blessing. :cool1:

Kat -- Welcome! Ice hockey sounds like a real calorie burner! I bet you burned off a bunch of those wings! It is good to have a flexible work day. I am really fortunate that most of the time I can do that. I applaud you for working exercise into your regular day. You rock! :woohoo:

Becky -- I love the 365 music as a background, too! I find it isn't too distracting, but every once in a while I hear something that makes me smile :)

Michelle -- My ds was always at the bottom of the weight chart, but at the top for height when he was really small. Now he is smack dab in the middle for everything. They are all just individuals on their own schedule. All we can do is help them be happy and healthy. I suspect all 3 of your kids are thriving!:cheer2:

Kelly -- I hope you enjoyed your date with your dh! Have you thought about just putting a cd player up with the TM? I know it wouldn't solve the something to watch issue, but you might be able to listen to some music to really get you moving. You could even listen to the High School Musical soundtrack -- keeping with the Disney theme. My ds now brushes his teeth to "We're All in This Together", and that seems to help the time pass. Yeah, I know. That's only 2 minutes...:lmao:

Dona-- Ok, you have to dish. Tell us all about this mystery quilt class?! We want details! And good luck this week getting back to working out. I am very proud of you for packing a good lunch all last week, that shows determination!:yay:

Jen -- How are you doing with that ice cream? I bet you are having healthy frozen yogurt! :upsidedow

Everyone have a wonderful night, and a safe and happy Sunday!
Maria

Good Sunday morning. The sun is shining and the air warm. It is a beautiful day here at the Jersey shore. I just finished grocery shopping and ds just went for a bike ride. I still have to clean the house but I just wanted to relax for a few minutes won't be back until later. He went to camp on the beach with a friend and his kids. They are about 5 hours from here and they are taking the ferry back so that cuts down on the time in the car but lengthens the trip while they are on the ferry for about 90 minutes. I have laundry to do and paperwork to do for my yearly evaluation tomorrow.

The weather looks good for Tuesday. I am going with ds2's band to NYC. They will play in the plaza at Lincoln Center, then tour the center and have a master class with a performer (last time that they did this, 5 years ago, it was with the understudy for Jekly and Hyde) and then lunch at the HArd Rock. I can't wait.

Mystery class. You sign up and are given some information. You either buy your fabric or trhe class includes fabric. You do some cutting and/or sewing at home and then go to class. This time we only had to cut fabric. When you get there you given a set of instructions and you start sewing. As you finish that page you are given another set of instructions. Some people try to guess what it is going to look like I just keep sewing and wait until the end. This was just one day. I went to one that was over a weekend and you only got one set of instructions at a time.

The pattern was pretty easy with a lot big parts. It ended up a large star pattern about 48 inches by 48 inches. Mine is in sshades of pale pink and green. I will be quilting it with deep pink and green. I will either give it to my sister or my neice who is going to Japan in June.

I agree about the crocs and orthodics. I don't think they will work. re

I hoep everyone has a great day. I have a lot of work left to do so I must go. Will catch up with everyone later.

Hi everyone! :)

First, I have to say that we LOVE Live 365! It's "All Disney, all the time".......just like us! :lmao:

My homeschool review went well. I had a different reviewer this year, and she was very nice. My dh is a public school teacher and Friday was his annual observation day. He did well, too! We went out to dinner to celebrate our good ratings and I ate way too much Mexican food.

Kat, I make poor food choices sometimes, too. I try not to let it get me down because every day there is a chance to start fresh again. I know for a fact that we're doing pizza and beer on Friday night, but I'll be sure to eat well all around that meal and the following day. I guess that's how Weight Watcher's works. If you consume a lot of calories on 1 meal, then you try to lower the calories of your other meals that day. Ice hockey sounds like a great way to keep in shape! I'm afraid I'd break an ankle if I tried to skate. LOL

Maria, don't forget that Cheerios are good for snacking, too! I still give my kids Cheerios now and then for a snack when they are watching a movie. I figure that Cheerios are more nutritious than chips, and they actually taste pretty good.

Dona, have fun in NY! I haven't been to a Hard Rock in ages.

104 days until we're in WDW! :woohoo:

This weekend I'm going to pull out our summer clothes. I usually do this job sooner than the end of April, but this year it stayed chilly for a while. I hope I have enough stuff that fits OK. During the summer we basically live at the pool. I could use a new bathing suit but have not started shopping for one yet.

I hope that everyone will have a good week and that spring weather is coming your way!

Hello, how are you all today? I feel good because I went to the gym today, yeah for me  My FIL came over today to turn on our air system, its one of those evaporative coolers, I hate it!! I wish we had a good ole fashioned air conditioner. I think I'm in good mood today because even Karina's constant whinning is not getting to me. I'm right there with you Kelly, almost in double digits!!!!! I can't wait to go to WDW. DH is trying to come back from Korea for leave now so he can go to WDW too, I think he was starting to get jealous by all the planning I was doing and has now decided he wants to go :confused3 go figure. Well, I have to go now to pick Leila up from daycare. Have a great day and see you later.

Thanks for all the welcomes!

I weighed today and I am down to 196.8. I started at 217 so I am pretty happy!

I managed to hop back on the wagon on Friday and have stuck to 1200 every day since, which is hard for me to do on weekends.

I did okay on food today, am at about 1200 calories. I "worked from home" which turned into a cleaning marathon and mowing the lawn, so I am counting that as my exercise.

Tomorrow I will make-up my normal Monday gym. Not sure if I will do weights since I don't want to be sore for Wed hockey, but I might do the circuit anyhow.

Hockey is great fun. I really, really stink at it but I don't care.

T-19 days til WDW trip!! (and serious diversion from diet...)

Guess what? Today is my 30th Bday!! I can't believe it, I never thought I would be out of my twenties. Right now I'm making chocolate chip cookie bars for my bday cake, I think I can have that at least. Yesterday I stuck to my diet and went to the gym so I should be okay today. If you get a chance go on over to my bday thread and say hi.

Kat, It's a great feeling to see less then 200 isn't it? When I finally got below 200 that's when I kicked the weight loss into overdrive and lost 20 pounds the year DH was in Iraq. I wish I could do that again. Congrats and keep up the good work!

Dona, Maria, Wendy, Kelly, Jennifer hope you guys are all doing well. Talk to everyone tomorrow.

Happy Birthday, Michelle!! : )

Congratulations on the weight loss, Kat!
