Good Wednesday morning I don't want to be back here at work. Yesterday in the city was lovely. Everything was just about perfect. The kids played and sang wonderfully, the Hard Rock was not as noisy as in the past so it wasn't too bad. We had a tour of Lincoln Center and we got to see the symphony in rehersal and a dress rehersal for an opera. Then we had a master class with a broadway performer. What a wonderful day. Why am I back here at work

Hope everyone has a great day.

Thank you for the Bday wishes! I feel fat and bloated oday, so back to the gym this morning. I'm kinda feeling like I would rather run or rollerblade, maybe I'll go to the gym on post and take a go at a treadmill or eliptical machine. I think I'm just bored of Curves for awhile and need something different. I would run outside, but in El Paso it gets really hot really quickly, and I might die from the heat :faint: :lmao: I *need* to lose at least 10 more pounds before we go on vacation, I would like to lose some of this leftover baby fat so I can wear my shorts and t-shirts without the ugly "muffin-top" fat roll look :rotfl2: What do you guys use as your motivation? I would like to put really big pictures of my motivation on the pantry and fridge doors, just don't know what the picture should be of, yet.

Dona, I'm glad your trip to the city was nice. Too bad you have to be cooped up inside now.

Bye for today, have a great day!

I was wondering if someone could help me out with what is going on. Last Monday was the day I officially started with my weight loss program. I am doing my own thing since I have done every plan known to man kind. I know what I should and should not do. Now I also started an excercise plan with this. I will give an example of what a typical day. I eat either a 3/4 cup of cereal with skim milk, 1 cup or 1 egg with veggies for breakfast. Then for lunch I do a salad of spring mix with carrots and celery and some kind of chicken very little feta with light dressing, mostly a vinegar based. For dinner I have basically the same as lunch or a very small portion of what I made. I try to push my greens alot. Excercise is either ride the stationary bike for 25 minutes and then floor excercies for 10-15 minutes or a brisk 20 minute walk with either the bike or floor excercies. I have been doing all of this faithfully for 10 days now with a 2 pound weight loss. I really expected more. What could I be doing wrong. I started today counting calories and fat grams of everthing I am eating to see if I am just fooling myself into thinking I am eating less. Any advice will be appreciated.
Michele

Michele, it almost sounds like you aren't eating enough. You should be eating a minimum of 1200 calories, esp with the exercise program. Otherwise your body may think you are starving it and will hold on to every lb it can.

Also, be sure to drink at least 64 oz of water as that helps with metabolism.

How much do you have to lose? Sometimes if it isn't much, it seems to come off more slowly.

And finally, 2 lbs lost is still a loss... just think, if you lost a 1 a week, in a year you would be doen 52 lbs. :goodvibes

Belated happy bday shell!!

i do drink a ton of water. Maybe I do not eat enough food. I need to loose around 30-35 pounds and I think that is what is so disappointing. Thanks for the help.
Michele

I was thinking of trying to limit myself to 1200 calories/day. I was wondering if you could gie me an example of a typical days meals? Thanks! :)

Sure!

Yesterday I did a 150 cal toaster scramble for bfast, Lunch was a big salad w/ light-done-right dressing (70), a 230 calorie frozen meal and a 60 calorie yogurt. Snacks were 50 cals worth of strawberries (about a half pint) and a bag of 94% ff popcorn (200). Dinner was 8 oz of chicken livers cooked in a nonstick pan w/ onions (240) and a medium sized potato sliced thin and cooked the same way as the liver. You could substute fish or chicken breast for the liver and get the same effect. I also had a 100 cal pack of hostess cupcakes and 10 ff pringles (50). Total, 1200.

Today I slkipped bfast. Lunch was the the leftovers from dinner (300 cals) and a yogurt (60). Dinner will be a WW meal, mac&cheese and salisbury steak (260), and a big salad (100). I also have a pint of strawberries that will likely get eaten, and I will do a snack when I get home from playing hockey from 7:30-9 and maybe a treat of a lite beer.

Oh and I always have a cup of coffee w/ skim milk and sweet n low in the mornings, which probably adds 10-20 cals, but I don't count those. I also drink a few diet sodas and 64 oz of water, take a multi-vitamin, and take 2 mega-t green tea pills, one on the AM, one in the PM, that I think might help with appetite suppression.

You can try fitday.com, which is a free online food journal, to help track your calorie consumption.

Hope that helps!!

The 150's sounds good to me. I am only 5'2" so whenever I think about losing weight the numbers given to me are in the120's or 130's at the highest and that isnt about to happen. I am trying to cut back on carbs. I do best with that. Although I love the idea of ww it doesent help my cravings with carbs. I won't get too crazy but will stick to the better carbs in small amounts. I didn't go through the entire thread but if anybody is doing this type of program I would be interested. Thanks- Grammy

Welcome Grammy. This is a great group of people who help each other whenever we can..

Hi everyone!

Here is my week on my exercise bike:

Sun. 11 miles, 32 minutes
Mon. 10 miles, 30 minutes
Tues. 8 miles, 23 minutes
Wed. 10 miles, 30 minutes
Thurs. 9 miles, 26 minutes
Friday (today)--day off!
Sat. ???

I did OK with exercising, but have made some poor food choices this week.

I hope everyone is doing well and has a good weekend! Welcome, Grammy!

Pixie Dust that is great. It takes me 30 minutes to ride 6 miles. I only started about 2 weeks ago and today I rode almost 6 in 25 minutes but you are doing great. I think we all make bad food choices and that is ok as long as we get right back to it.
Welcome Grammy! I am new also so I am finding this thread to be great.
I hope all of you have a very good weekend and make good choices. I am going to try.

Hi Everyone!

Where does the time go? I meant to post on Wednesday, my weigh-in day. I lost 6 lbs.! Of course, I was up 1.5 the week before from TOM, so my actual net loss is 4.5. I am thrilled. I have been super vigilant with exercise and counting points, and it finally paid off! I earned my new crocs, and I can't wait until they get here. My next 5 lbs reward is a spa day at home. I'm taking a sick day, and I have a great new spa robe and all kinds of awesome pampering products, so it's definitely a goal I want to reach. I may even nap in the afternoon!

Michele -- I can do about 9 miles in 35 minutes, but I'm pushing the entire way. I have the bike set on resistance level 3 most of the time. I need to find a new tape to watch while I'm on the bike. Van Halen is getting a little old, but I love Sammy Hagar! Two pounds in 10 days is not necessarily bad -- it depends on your metabolism, and how fit you are to start with and what your diet was like. I was eating good things, just way too big portions. And I've been exercising pretty steadily. It takes about a month before my body "gets" that we are trying to lose again, and then the weight whooshes off one week, stays steady, goes up, whooshes again, etc. It really takes me about six months to be in a pattern of consistent losing every week.

Kelly -- You are rockin' out that bike! Excellent job. It is really hard to put the food and exercise together. When you work out, you are more hungry! :confused3

Dona-- I'm thinking of you because ds has a math test today. It's his favorite subject, and rarely gets anything wrong. He also wants to work at WDW when he grows up. I'm hoping we have a budding imagineer...:cloud9:

Grammy-- :welcome: I hope you will find the support you are looking for in this thread!

Kat-- "work from home" also means doing the work of the home for me!:lmao: I should feel guilty, and I do a little bit. There just aren't enough hours in the day...I have a colleague who counts his travel time as part of his work day, and when he works from home he includes the dog walks...

akmom-- I applaud your ability to count calories. It all sort of eludes me. I have to try sparkpeople...

Michelle -- Happy Belated Birthday! I hope you had a great day. I use a prize every few pounds to keep me going. I don't even let myself think more than one prize ahead, I have to get where I'm going before I can consider it.

I did 3 miles on the TM yesterday, and this weekend is my long run -- I'm up to 4 miles! I think it will take me about 50 minutes, we'll see.

I hope everyone is looking forward to a great weekend!
Maria

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. So far I am doing pretty well with my low carb choices. It is amazing to me, but when I cut out the sugar and white flour it is definitely easier for me to pass them up. Treating myself to strawberries instead of ice cream and cookies. I haven't gotten on the scale yet. I am in one of those modes that I know I put on a lot of weight quickly because all of my clothes are tight. Better for my mindset not to know numbers or I dwell and get down. Everyone have a good weekend! Lets all try and reach our goal of the 150's!(no matter how long it takes!)

I weighed today and I am down 4 lbs from last Friday. That brings my total to 21 lbs, 37 to go.

I am a bit down today. But, workday is over so hopefully a nice night of buying trees and eating at golden corral (no yeast rolls, LOTS of salad!!) and hanging out w/ sweetie will make things better.

And, 2 weeks until WDW trip!! :yay:

Golden Corral! I miss Golden Corral! You have to work to find a buffet around here. I usually only eat at one when I'm visiting my dad in St. Louis or on vacation in Orlando...I love those yeast rolls! I admire your restraint, because I have to have them with honey butter. It's such a treat! And I love their dessert bar...I guess it's a good thing I don't have one close by!:rotfl: Seriously, I hope you enjoyed your date

Congratulations on your fabulous loss!:cheer2:

I'm awake, after kind of a rough night. I coughed through most of it, and my voice is pretty much gone. But, I'm going to get my morning routine going and get on the TM for my run. I'll check in after I've done it, gotta keep myself accountable!:goodvibes

I hope everyone is off to a fantastic start this weekend!
Maria

My ultimate goal is 150 lbs, but I've got about 87.5 lbs to go, as of my first WW weigh in this morning. :scared: I LOVE the new e-tools -- it is right up my alley. I'm online a lot anyway, and I'm on there at work too, so it's soooo easy to just pop on there and put in my points. :goodvibes Good luck to everyone!!!

I am so bummed, depressed, and down today. I am up 4 pounds  because I have not been to the gym in ages. I hate backtracking, it seems like such a waste of time. So, on Monday, I'm going to be hitting the gym and watching what I eat with great diligence. Now I need to lose like 15 before August. I hope I can do it. I can't figure out how I can weigh ten pounds less then I did before I had the baby but still not fit into the shorts I was wearing when I weighed more. I can't believe I put that much fat on in my midsection :confused3 And the question of the day is how do you lose this???? I'm just feeling frustrated. Thanks for listening to the rant.

Unfortunately, my MIL loves Golden Corral, we go to a buffet every Sunday! I make up for it by eating a small breakfast and eating a small snack in the evening before bed.

Congrats to those who lost!!  And a great big :welcome: to anyone new. Have a great day ladies, see you tomorrow.

Welcome Marci.

Let's have a pity party right now. MY dh and ds2 went away for the weekend and I am at loose ends. I never sleep well the first night that they are gone.

WE are very concerned about money for the summer and next year's tuition for ds1 since tuition is due July 5th which is a month earlier than last year. (No school teachers do not get paid during the summer) so I don't want to spend a lot of money because Monday is payday. But I am second guessing myself about a purchase I made. I returned something that i bought so I had the money but I think dh will think it is a stupid purchase. I bought a new lawn mower today. The kind that you do all the work with. I know that we have a fairly big yard but it is ridiculus to spend all that gas and money for gas to mow the lawn. I just went to a Global Warming Awarness Fair a couple of weeks ago and with Earth Day last week it has gotten me thinking about what I can do to help the world. I gave myself a really good workout using it today. It will be a lot easier if we didn't have so much onion grass this time of year. It was hard the first pass and much easier the second pass (which you always have to do in the spring even with a gas mower.

My exercise has been very light but my eating has been pretty good this week. I brought my breakfast and lunch to work everyday this week except for the day I went into the city with ds's band.

Tomorrow starts another week we need to make a u-turn and get back on the right road. Good luck everyone.

Hello, Ladies!

I agree, it's U-Turn time! I'm kind of in the middle of the curve, but we need a full Uie!

I did my 4 miles yesterday, and I ate very little for breakfast and lunch...yep, big mistake. I was a snackin' machine. I am really going to have to work to be at last week's weight Wednesday, if that's even possible.

I'm about to go eat cheerios, and then plan a decent lunch. We're having tortellini for dinner, so I'll measuring it. I'm planning to walk on the TM this afternoon to a movie. I have to choose between Starsky and Hutch and Moulin Rouge. We rarely go to the movies, so I get everything on Netflix. My throat is better, but I'm still majorly congested. I'm also hoping for an early night, I think I could really use the rest. Another killer week at work coming up. I just keep saying "May 9th" to myself. That's the date when most of the hard part will be over.

Dona -- I understand your tuition woes. DS's tuition will double (at a minimum) when he goes to high school. I don't even want to think about college! Actually, we're in better shape for college than high school. At least we have a fund and contribute monthly. I'm afraid our lovely vacations may be a thing of the past once we get to that point...We have four years until high school, so I've suggested to dh we start to just put a little away each month, so it won't be so painful when it hits. :scared1:

Michelle -- Weight can fluctuate so much, and one of the sad things about pregnancy is you do come out of it with your weight redistributed, at least I did. But all you can do is move forward. Try to learn so you can improve, and keep going! None of us wants to go back, so forward is the only option. Each day is a new opportunity to make good choices about food and exercise. To paraphrase, "Why Not Today?" It's almost a new month. Think how great you will feel at the end of May if you have worked out 20 times?! I am going to lose at least 5 more lbs. in May. Let's do it together!

Marci -- I hope WW helps you do great thing!:goodvibes

Happy Sunday, Let's take the first steps on our turnaround!
Maria

Hello everyone!

Well, I just came off of 7 days working 9 pm to 6 am. Boy, my body clock is so messed up! By the time I did what I had to do, and make sure I had enough sleep, I really neglected my online postings. Looks like I missed a few new members! Hello to you! And Michelle, Happy Birthday a few days late!

Weather here has been better. A bit of rain, but at least the snow is gone. Last night was DS's senior prom. If I knew how to, I would upload a photo. Maybe some day I will figure it out! :rotfl:

I also booked his graduation vacation. We are sending him and his best bud to WDW for 3 nights. They want to stay longer, so they are going to pay to stay an extra night. His friends' parents are paying for air fare. They are going Aug 12. I tried to talk them into during thier first school break, late december early january, because it is cooler and way less crowded, but no go. Oh well. I just hope he doesn't come back too sunburned for clothes. I know he will be burned, it is just the level that will be in question. I can NEVER get him to wear a hat. Even the tops of his ears burn. Some day he will figure it out.

With my crazy schedule last week, I did alright on my diet. Much better on exercising tho. I did take DD to have ice cream last night. All the hoopla with prom, we figured we deserved a break. SO, today will be a much longer walk to help compensate for it. I am getting tired of veggies and chicken. But while at work, it is the easiest and the most nutritious.

DH brought DD a pastry text book home. Of course they insist on making something out of it. So, I had a very light lunch, and just green tea suppliment for breakfast. I hope the steak and brocoli will keep me from eating a normal size piece. If DH cuts it, I am safe from over indulging.

Lots more to catch up on.

OH--I have never been to a Golden Corral, although there is one near us. My DH has some food allergies, so we don't usually eat at buffets with him. It really helps me, because I can never decide and eat a bit of it all. Mom and Dad are coming over for DS's graduation. Thought about taking them there. Dad loves buffets. So, do they have a good selection of more nutritious items>or am I just doomed for that meal?

Hope all had a great weekend, and a wonderful week ahead!

Wendy
